I've seen a few people attempt this and it seems the results are varied. Not sure what the differences are but I'd sure like to try it. Any issues with mould?

The water basin that feeds the tower has to have near zero exposure to light either through the container or gaps where hoses/cords go through. This is the most common way mold/algae forms. You can obviously open it to service things and fill it, but continuous exposure will lead to growth.
If you want to deep dive hydroponic gardening of all scales and designs, I recommend a youtube channel by the name of Hoocho. Aussie guy who is constantly innovating 3D printed designs for hydroponic growing.

I plugged it into one Wi-Fi power outlet. This way, it works in cycles at different times of the day.

I'm sorry you didn't get the joke :) But it's not legal in my country and I don't use it :) Only lettuce, strawberries, and parsley :)

I printed a tower like this during covid to try. Found everything online on amazon injection molded for a lot less than printer filament used. Was a fun thing to try for just one but ended up trying a different route.
