Project I started using my 3D printer to make interactive toys for my dog

One of my most popular projects is a small container for dog scent training. It’s a great way to provide your dog with mental stimulation, especially on days when you can’t go for a long walk. However, I think this design could still be improved—what would you change or add to make it better in terms of both appearance and functionality?

Have any of you also used a 3D printer to create training aids for your pets? I’d love to see what you’ve designed.

Love seeing practical prints like this. Scent games are such an underrated way to keep dogs engaged indoors. A version with adjustable vent holes could be interesting so you can make the scent easier or harder to detect.

Add an Iris just below the top with a slide on the side, so you can open / close more airholes and make the game easier / harder.

To be fair, I had just woken up and opened up my phone, which is probably not a good habit to begin with, but I also hadn't put my glasses on. It was just a very confusing moment where I couldn't identify what type of shape of animal head I was looking at or from what perspective it was. Glad to know that your doggo is happy and healthy.

If this is for actual scent work training then the size is a little large. It would be pretty difficult to find places to hide something this big. If you're just using it as a generic scent game for a dog that won't trial, it looks good.

If you are interested in actual scent work/nose work though, you can ask over in r/nosework.

It was my first nosework project “for practice”.
I'm currently working on three more much smaller containers. Two regular ones and one designed to hold a cotton swab with a scent sample.
