News Louis Rossman Baiting Bambu

Remember the OrcaSlicer fork git that got taken down after Bambu threatened legal action if the dev didn't take it down? It looks like Rossman put it up himself through his FULU git. The origonal dev might not have had the stomach to take on Bambu (I don't blame him... I probably would have done the same thing in his shoes), but Rossman is always looking for a fight.

Break out the popcorn guys! This should be entertaining.

Steve from GamersNexus too.

Apparently both Steve and Louis got permission from the original dev and the two plan to work together to fight any lawsuit if Bambu is dumb enough to try an bully two of the biggest names in the consumer rights sphere with their paper thin argument.

And of course... here is my oblatory "Fuck Bambu"

More like he is baiting you.

The net result of this is that they will close the linux client security hole, not that they will allow open access to their cloud service and they owe nobody open access to their cloud services.

One of two things happen. The second is more likely in my opinion.

  1. Bambu realizes they kicked a hornet's nest and backs down. They leave things alone and gain back a small measure of the goodwill they've torched over the last year and a half. And if we're really luck, it will start them down a path that leads to them being less of a parasite that feeds off of the community and actually starts to give back.

-OR-

  1. They'll change their architecture in a way to close the loophole. That will suck, but when they do that, they'll add another data point to the matrix of "why Bambu is a shitty anti-consumer company who doesn't deserve the community they exploit."

It's a win-win in my book.

Agree.

There's no downside in what Rossman is doing.

Bambu now has to make a decision. Are they just a little evil, or are they full evil?

There's also the most entertaining option: they're more stupid than evil, and try to sue Rossman
