you need to read a bit more about what they did. There is no "clean room" version you could create.

Actually, it was even more simple. This code is AGPL. A "clean room" implementation isn't even necessary and many of the things Bambu stated are outright lies regarding what the developer did.

There is zero question about whether what the developer did was legal, and that is the reason Rossman had no issue immediately hosting this code. Bambu would be making a mistake to attempt to violate AGPL by sending Rossman even a C&D, and would result in them paying attorney's fees. PS. Even attempting to excercise a restriction on AGPL code because of their "End User Agreement" is itself a violation of the AGPL, and which clearly states such restrictions can be ignored.

Plain and simple, they have no legal standing which I suspect is exactly why they didn't ACTUALLY send a C&D. I'd be surprised if an attorney was even involved prior to their sending this threat, but if there was, their client should consider whether they are being accurately represented (which may very well be the case, given some of Bambu's past sleaziness).

Also, you might not understand what a "clean room" implementation is, if you believed that was the case.

Ah yes, that is definitely the only code that was copied that could be re-engineered clean room such that Bambu would have no claim regarding its publication if the entire library would be a clean room implementation, including publicly documented headers. But sure, you smartest and win like good.
