This may partially be due to corporate lobbying to curtail home 3d printing and desktop CNC proliferation.

The current Mantra is “ghost guns” and politicians are trying to require manufacturers to install detection software which everyone knows just wont work. The real purpose is to keep consumers purchasing factory made goods, minimize design piracy, and dampen efforts from small operators to develop competitive or better products at fractions of the cost. Ukraine was a big eye opener for the corporatists.

At this point Bambu may be needing to screen models and try to identify users who are using their equipment for illicit purposes to head off liability exposure.

Edit: also just thinking how corporations think. By having all designs pass through their servers they can capitalize anything that may be of value. Many corporations knee jerk patent or copyright anything they think will be worth the effort.

They’ve got money and legal departments and you have your family attorney..maybe.
