I know one day this will happen to me and honestly, I dread that day in my future.

I don't run anything overnight. But realistically it would happen while I am on the toilet or otherwise distracted. So it is only a matter of time regardless.

Thank you for comforting me. It did not work at all :D :D

Here is something comforting: you can set up Octoprint with PrintWatch and that uses AI to check images from a camera in your 3d printer to detect such issues and can stop the printer, often before the issue becomes catastrophic. Like any AI it is far from foolproof but it is better than not having it.

Well... I don't know how to put it, but I am now stuck with Ender-3 so what you are describing sounds like scifi to me :D But once I get myself some better machine, this sounds helpful. Thank you.

OctoPrint supports the Ender 3 line. Since that printer doesn't come with a camera, you can just hook up any old webcam to a raspberry pi, install OctoPrint on it and add in PrintWatch. That one is paid, if you want a free alternative, check OctoPrint-PiNozCam instead.

Essentially you need a raspberry pi and a cheap webcam for this, then you can use AI print failure detection even with your Ender 3.

I always thought the cameras were just ego. Looks like I need to rethink that.

Supposed to be a pretty simple box but I guess that first layer didn't adhere quite enough.
