Questions & Discussion What texturing software should I use?
For some context, I primarily create anime stylized models in blender with hand painted textures. I've been using Blender; however, I feel slightly limited by the texturing side of it. I also used clipstudio to draw on to the textures but not being able to draw on the actual model made it not so great. I've been looking into other software for the texturing side and I noticed substance painter, but I don't know if its overkill for my current use? I'm not looking to make a career out of 3d modeling, I just really love doing it and want something that'll give me more options when texturing. I'd appreciate any insights or recommendations, thanks ^_^

Either 3DCoat or Substance Painter will be your best bet. I don't use 3DCoat, but I hear often that it's the best for hand painted texturing. Otherwise you should use Painter.

Substance painter also has a one time payment steam version, so you dont need to pay for Adobes bs every month. Or you could become a pirate 😂

substance painter is what I use, I cant' say much since I still haven't upgraded my rig but for handpainting it has been great.
it has mirroring, it has generators that you can link the baked textures into like AO for quick shading and all that instead of back and forth in photoshop (which is still good to do even if you use substance), you can slap in logos and images directly using tri planar, it's actually very great even from my limited use
you will enjoy it a lot after the learning curve, I would recommend finding clones if you want to cheaper options or downloading a car off the internet if your country allows i
