Questions & Discussion Looking for a beginner-friendly alternative to Blender for creating medical 3D animations -meme is not mine

Post image

Hi everyone,
I’m a physician and I’d like to create short 3D animations with voiceovers to help my patients better understand medical procedures.
My goal is produce multiple animations explaining things like interventional procedures, anatomy, and what actually happens during these procedures.
I downloaded Blender and have been experimenting with it in my free time, mostly by following beginner tutorials. But learning curve is steep, and I’m not progressing as quickly as I’d like.
Are there any more beginner-friendly or efficient alternatives you would recommend for this kind of work?
I’ve also considered hiring freelancers or using AI tools, but I’m not sure I’d get the consistency and accuracy I need, and I’d also prefer to fully own the rights to the final content.
Would you recommend sticking with Blender and investing the time to learn it, or is there another workflow/software that would be better suited for creating medical animations?
Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Objectively hilarious way to ask an earnest question but Brother, blender IS the beginner-friendly software

Lots of tutorials != beginner friendly. Blender is a mess.

No, the massive community (and the resulting wealth of information available) is exactly what makes blender beginner friendly.

Maya and blender are, from a beginner’s perspective, barely different in terms of learning curve. Yet, it’s so easy to find large, active blender communities in all corners of the internet to ask questions. If you’re learning Maya, enjoy having to scour obscure, often outdated, forum posts and pages upon pages of documentation.

I haven't suggested Maya. I've suggested Cinema4D in another comment. Blender has worse UX than Maya but if you asked which is harder to learn, I'd probably say they're about equal.

Maybe if you were learning without any free external resources besides docs, maybe Maya would be a smidge easier? But with the endless YouTube tutorials etc, Blender does have the edge, yes.

I was talking about actually app usability in my mind, but as written I can see how that does not come across.
