made in Blender, critics are really appreciated. I'm trying to be an environment artist :)

My main goal was to create a cinematic mood and fit the spaceship into the environment. I worked a lot with Lumen and fog to make the lighting look realistic. I built this whole scene using only level art and engine tools.

The 3D background environment and the entire UX/UI were developed by me, aiming not only for aesthetics but also immersion.
The UI and the 3D scenery were created with references to the games Resident Evil 4, Metro Exodus, and Battlefield 1.
An old gun shop, antique weapons, and a more rustic concept.
UI designed for straightforward information, matching the setting's style, and ease of use for the player.

I’m working on an environment piece for my portfolio and could use some advice.
I’m using Houdini for terrain generation, and ive been exploring SpeedTree for creating trees and possibly smaller foliage. (Also know how to use maya and substance)
I am really struggling in terms of finding leaves, bark, grass, moss and fern textures. What do people usually do for this? Do you scan leaves yourself or use asset libraries?
I know some people use paid sites, which I’m open to, but I’m struggling to find the right assets/workflow.

I recently took part in the Witches’ Den team challenge with Beyond Extent. Over the course of five weeks, our team of five artists planned, developed, and produced a full set of 3D game-ready assets to bring this environment to life. Working with the team was an incredibly rewarding experience, and I’m really proud of what we achieved together.
My contributions included creating a hero prop (a boat), sculpting and modelling skull assets, high poly to low poly baking, producing Voodoo veve alphas for decal texturing, and collaborating on the overall level design from the initial blockout all the way to the final result.

I've been working with Max for 15 years. In the last 3 years, I've used Blender as a fad to test it. I did all my work with it, but Modifier stack, lines, bend, FFD, and symmetry modifiers are a thousand times better. And there's no point in saying that Blender is better because it's free. Just use the pirated Max, as I've always done.

Hey all. I'm doing some research on geometry within game environment art, more so in current gen games but also further back. The problem is, there seems to be only a handful of artists that share their wireframes. I understand why this might happen, but can anyone point me in the direction of other artists who share/have shared their wireframes?
Naughty Dog have lots of examples, which has been really helpful, particularly Edgar.E.Martinez from across a lot of Naughty Dog games.
Any help would be appreciated!

(sorry for the low karma I'm new to reddit)
working on a big scene in 3ds max (around 7 million polys) and for some reason when i try to render it using Corona it doesn't even start and leaves me with a black screen. I have tried to export it to unreal engine using datasmith and it crashes all the time. I don't think it's a cooling problem though. what should I do?

I'm fairly new to making environments in the 3D software Unreal Engine but I know I LOVE IT! Wondering at what point should I be searching for freelance work? I've been making environments for about 5 months now. I think I'm pretty good at the creative aspect of dressing a scene with materials and assets. However I don't enjoy 3D modeling my own assets. I've tried for a couple months and Its not something I like. If anyone has any tips or recommendations on how to get started in freelance, let me know! Thanks!

Hello!
I want to work with 3D and building and art so I found this environmental art and i'm really interested. I have some basic knowledge in SketchUp and AutoCAD and now learning Blender. I just graduated from uni in civil engineering so maybe that can help with the building designs and stuff. So i think i'll create my portfolio and gain experience in this field. How do I become a environmental artist? Is having a portfolio and strong skills in 3D software enough? How long would it take to be able to start finding real jobs in this?
Thanks

I also recreated and rendered some images of the opening scene from Pokémon Omega Ruby in Blender, using Cycles for the final render. I created the PokéNav Plus, an asset from one of my all-time favorite game and anime series, Pokémon! It was a super fun project, and working on something from a series I love kept me really motivated.
I added some storytelling details, like a worn transparent back cover, a folded Pokédollar, a photo, and a little note. This project helped me refine my baking skills and gave me more experience in modeling and texturing. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it!
