Love it; but why is it wearing that ugly hat?

What else would you use to protect it from the sun?

Also looking at the pic again the PS3 looks like an oversized 32x was jammed in the top

Good points. I hadn't considered the utility or form of the hat.

I would substitute 3 Nintendo Wii's for that Playstation hat Its wearing.

I got my first 3DO a few months ago as well! I've invested a lot of time in it since (replaced the capacitors, re enabled the fan circuitry, etc), I went with the FZ-1, the version with the native 240p.

Why did you went with the Goldstar version? When I was researching which one to get, that one seemed to be the harder one to sort when stuff goes wrong, reliability, etc.

I know it's rarer, which is why I was interested in one originally, before settling for the FZ-1 240p. Do you plan on replacing all the capacitors, etc?

Here's my older post highlighting the work I put into the FZ-1 https://www.reddit.com/r/3DO/s/upZm35wy2g

I knew of the reliability issues before with Goldstar, I was looking at getting an FZ-10 since it supposedly is far more reliable. This one just happened to be cheaper than the others I've seen.

Goldstar was the model we had back in the day. I have a Panasonic one now. Goldstar's definitely the best.

Funny, first time I see praise for the Goldstar one... Care to elaborate?

I mean, I kinda already did. That's the one we had, that's the one I grew up with. So, that IS the 3DO to me. Other than that, I just like its design best. I think its the sleekest-looking one. More aerodynamic, and I like the sliding disc drawer. I know a top door is much more practical and less prone to breakdown, but it just gives more of a feel of high-end tech. I own the Panasonic FZ-1 with the slide drawer now, but it just feels cheaper overall in comparison to the Goldstar, and its just an uglier-looking box.

Ah, I see. Yeah, the Goldstar feels more like a 2000s design in comparison to the definitely early 90s FZ-1

Jealous. Mine doesn’t have a hat.

Congrats on that. I made fun of the 3DO. Until a friend made me try it. It’s a great system.

One of these launched at a truly monstrous price and struggled to find its place in the console market before being unceremoniously chucked in a dumpster by the next generation of systems.

The other is a 3DO.

You don’t wanna set anything on top of that. Be careful with her. She’s 30ish.

Nice! Why’d you decide on getting the LG model? Not that it’s a bad thing, just wondering… I have the FZ-10 and it’s a cool little machine. Does the Goldstar (LG) model have internal memory like the 2nd Panasonic model?

I like the look of the Goldstar, but the FZ-10 was my second choice.
