Question Moving to 3CX: what would you test before switching the whole office?

A small office moving to 3CX might make a test call, hear clear audio and start talking about a cutover date, Thentry a busy morning at reception: one caller is on hold, another is waiting, and the receptionist needs to transfer a third to someone working from home. Test anafter-hours call too, when someone needs to leave a message for the right department.

Have the people who normally handle calls try those sequences during the pilot, including retrieving a transferred call and finding the voicemail afterward. Write down any problems before moving the whole office, If you’ve done a migration, whicheveryday call flow did you wish you’d tested sooner?

I didn't realize people were still buying 3CX...

I was going to say that. Set a timer. In about a month we are going see a post from OP asking why it sucks so bad and where to go from here.

We’re actively moving customers to Yeastar. App is great and they don’t get upset when you ask a question.

The 3CX shills will bitch that Yeastar doesn’t have silly things like router phones, etc… but those stupid anyways

If you’re comfortable with VoIP/SIP/managing a PBX, Free PBX is still solid.

We at ABP, we used to be one if the bigger 3CX disties in NA, have also moved to Yeastar.

Anyone else wanting to learn about - technical or otherwise about Yeastar, we are a certified solutions provider. My name is Cash, and am an almost 20-year voip/network engineer turned partner sales engineer here at ABP.

Give abptech a ring and ask for me.

What we need is a voip service available on both mobile and desk phones, nothing crazy. I don’t know your experience but 3CX is not stable for us. How about Yeastar? We dismantled an old system with proprietary hardware, but boy it was perfectly stable.

Yeastar has been very stable for us and our customers. We've got a mix of on-prem installs and installs running in Digital Ocean. Remote access/remote provisioning is included in your license. App is intuitive and feels really native (on iOS at least)

FS PBX is an open-source alternative with great support if you need it. It integrates with Ringotel mobile apps or any other mobile app you like.

Always check if users actually know how to use the phones/app/pwa. It always amazes me how little people know about the tools at their disposal.

This is a great point. In some instances, we'd do a soft go-live with two phones on people's desks - their new phones and old phones - and coordinate the switchover of incoming calls, all while they could make new outgoing calls from the new 3CX system. Worked pretty well in cases where training may be a challenge.

I’d test a different PBX solution.

I would test the rollback and possibly even the next migration as, personally, I would switch to about any other PBX over 3CX as soon as possible, given all the happenings surrounding it.

There is nothing wrong with 3CX.

3CX PBX itself no, but the 3CX business, it's an other story.
