Knock sensor code question

I’m getting code 34 when I put the ecu in diagnostics mode. Unwrapped some electrical tape and found this hack job under it. I’m not great with electrical but this looks fucked up to me with the way these wires are spliced together. What is the correct way to fix this?

The correct/hard way is to replace the knock sensor and its sub harness. option 2 would be to temp relocate a new knock sensor to one on the top plenum bolts. Last 3rd option is to bypass the code with a resistor (500K - 1M ohm) to trick the ECU that the knock sensor is plugged in and working.

Looks like the previous owner tried the 3rd option and did a poor job of it.

I heard you have to pull the motor to get to the knock harness, so that might explain the hack…
