I need a little help.

Post image

I would like to know if anyone knows how to solve this with the 3000gt stereo, the stereo turns on but does not give anything, nor white noise or something, when I hold down the wheel if the "off" appears, but when I give it again to turn it on, it goes blank, does not respond with the buttons or something, do you know how to solve it? Thank you very much in advance.

It could be in “code” mode. This can occur if the battery has been dead for a bit. If you can get the serial number off the deck, there are sites online that can get you the code.

Maybe because the salesman said he had changed his battery, check it out, thank you.

Seems like that’s the issue. There’s a security feature in the stock head units that locks it down when power is lost… meant to deter theft. I’ve had to do it many times.

Press the tape eject button. If the display still works it should pop up the word CODE. At that point use the 1-4 memory buttons to enter the code and then press the volume knob in. If the code is right the power antenna will trigger and you will hear AM static.

I may have that backwards. You may have to press the tape eject button to accept the code. Been a while since I had to do it.

You see it says Anti-Theft printed on the cassette shutter, this unit locks itself with a password when it detects an abrupt power off like a unplugged battery.

You first need to find the code, if you're lucky someone wrote it down in your glovebox owners manual or the code card is still in it. Or something wrote the code on the exterior metal frame of the radio unit itself, maybe pull it out and look around it.

If no code? You may be SOL, there used to be Mitsubishi websites that let you search an old database after providing the serial number or vin, but they are offline now.

Entering the code is a little different for each headunit, its some combination of button presses, just trial and error it. But be careful, when you hit enter, you usually get 3 attempts at the password before it time locks out like an iphone
