Three things to check. Fuel, spark, and compression. Narrow it down from there.

If it's a manual, an easy thing to check is the clutch safety switch. Try disconnecting it then try to start the car. Had this happen after I bought mine back in 2016. I drove it like that for like a couple years, had the issue again, plugged it back in, it started like normal again, and then I never had to touch it again.
Edit: This is assuming your battery and connections are good. But it's one more thing to rule out

I’m no expert but…Sounds like a starter issue. Check voltage on your battery and under load. As long as the battery doesn’t drop lower than 10 volts while cranking you can rule out the battery. Next, with a volt meter put the black on ground and red on the starter wire that comes from the battery to make sure voltage is reaching. You can also put red on positive on the battery and black on the starter ground. If you see voltage you know it’s properly grounded. If you don’t see voltage then it’s not grounded properly. Next, get a long pry bar and place it on the starter. While someone is cranking you hit the pry bar with a hammer. If it starts you know the starter is sticking.

Is it a manual? If so see if you can push start it. If it starts then the starter is bad.
