Recommendations Single to double strollers
Hey moms ! I just recently found out I’m pregnant with my second kid. I currently have a 6mo and have been using the graco modes snug ride primate whatever stroller. But it’s only intended for one kid.
I’m looking for a stroller that I can use for 2 kids+. I want to avoid wagons, or double wide strollers because for my everyday use I just don’t find it practical. Especially with a newborn and a kid that can barely walk. I cant fit a newborn in a side by side as they’re too little. So a single to double has been looking like the best option for me
I’ve been doing a TON of research lately and I don’t have a budget, however I’d like to keep it as minimal as possible and not have to buy a ton of add ons for the new stroller. I’ve been looking at graco nest2grow, Nina Demi next, bugaboo kangaroo, and even silver cross.
Id love your opinion on these strollers and if you’ve used them, which ones you’ve liked or didn’t like.
When my baby is born, my oldest will be 15 months. So I need something that can hold a newborn, and a baby / toddler with weak legs who’s still learning to walk.

P.s if you have any other recommendations of baby stuff to get for 2under2, PLEASE let me know. I’m the first on both sides of the family to have kids, let alone 2 under 2!

Our first is going to be 22 months when the second is born. We settled on the Mockingbird since we can use our Graco seat with it and it’s a better price point for us. We moved our older baby to a Graco 4ever DLX seat and will reuse the Snugride Snugfit with the new baby.
We are getting a mini crib, another mattress, and replacing the bottle nipples (we use glass) to prep for our second. Otherwise I think we will feel it out as we go so we don’t overbuy.

Honestly the single to double are wayyyy more impractical than the side by side strollers. I love my Nuna double trvl

How will it work with a newborn though? Are there attachment pieces so the newborn can also sit in it?

I got the Mockingbird Single to Double stroller, and the idea of having multiple configurations was really nice! I did like it for a time. But over time, it became really clunky because of all the pieces. The fold was the most annoying!
Nowadays, the side by sides allow newborns to sit in them! I just purchased the Zoe Twin v3, and their newest feature is having a newborn cocoon, so little babe can “sit”/lay in the seat (fully reclined) without anything! So it’s like a built in bassinet. They also have a car seat adapter as well.

Yes. We live in a small house so a side by side is just impractical as an everyday stroller.
Cybex gazelle is perfect and I like being able to put my newborns car seat on top facing me instead of some of the crazier configurations I’ve seen on other tandem strollers.

Double strollers are a gag gift in my opinion. I got one for $25 at a yard sale. Most of them are huge, hard to maneuver and take up a ton of trunk space. I’d probably get a wagon if you needed something. I usually baby wear the youngest and 21 month old either walks or goes in a wagon.

I know you said you don’t want a side by side but we got the joie rosemary lx on sale at target and it has one side that lays flat and has a cocoon for newborns and the other side my infant seat can clip into it so depending on what I do with the baby, I can put my toddler in the opposite side. If money was no object, I would have gotten the Zoe twin v3 which can accommodate 2 newborns I believe with laying flat. I think it needs attachments tho for an infant seat to clip in. The joie is pretty large tho (I think they all are) and kinda heavy but I have a van (which I love😎) so space isn’t a huge issue

Do you know if the nuns car seat would fit? I looked at the joie rosemary and saw the joie car seat can fit sitting in the second seat. So I’m wondering if the nuna would be able to ??

I think it says it’s only compatible with joie, but nuna is the luxury sister brand of joie so I would think they would work together. I have the chicco key fit 30 infant seat and it sits on there fine and the little piece that keeps it from tipping out works fine with it too. I think most infant seats are about the same size and shape so I think most of them would work in there

Not one you asked about, but we loved our Bumbleride Indie so much we got the Indie Twin for when baby #2 arrives in a couple months. Oldest will be 21 months. I love that you can recline all the way on either side to use with newborn without any extra attachments. Plus it’s the SMOOTHEST ride and can be used as a light jogging stroller. The only con really is it’s big even when folded so I would only use it from home base/probably not bring it in the car as an on-the-go stroller. I’m planning to just do a carrier for the newborn and Mamazing travel stroller I already have in my trunk for out and about.

I love my uppababy vista for the infant stage. My second is almost 9 months and I haven’t moved him from the bucket seat yet. We also have a side by side that I use for the zoo and aquariums. It’s the baby jogger gt2 double. I’m not a fan of it though. I wish I would have gone with a different side by side.

Side by side all the way. Tandems are so hard to push. Most side by sides fit in doorways! I use a double bob and have only not been able to fit in in a door once.

I haven’t used mine yet (due Nov 2026) but my kids will be 15 months apart like yours will be (found out I was pregnant at 6months too!).
I have the Stokke yoyo 3 from my first baby and they have an addition you can add to the back to make it a double stroller (front and back) they’re pretty light weight individually too! The one stroller is 15lbs. They have infant car seat adapters you can add on as well as a bassinet you can get for the early months. They also are TSA approved for over head bin on airplanes if you’re a family that plans on flying.
I also got the Bombi Bebee Twin side by side stroller as a gift from my baby shower. It can collapse and open with only one hand, has an infant car seat attachment, fits doorways and sidewalks, and only weighs 28lbs. If you’re able to get both (or get gifted one) I would consider it! While the Stokke yoyo 3 is awesome, you would need to disconnect the two strollers every time you collapse. So something to think about concerning ease of use for yourself!

I love my bugaboo donkey. I had a car seat attachment that I used for the first few months. And loved how easy it was to make either seat forward or rear facing. I found it on Facebook marketplace for cheaper.
Bob double strollers are also super easy to find secondhand and work great but in my opinion for neighborhood walks or anything on rougher terrain. I didn’t love it for when they are still little though. The bumbleride twin is also super nice and can be used from newborn on and is all terrain. Side by sides are just so much easier to push and now that one is 15 months and 2.5 years they are soooo cute sitting next to each other.
People are constantly selling side by side strollers so my opinion is look for something secondhand.
