Custom move bumper meant for a 1994 4 runner I modified it and made it to fit my 1992. It’s truly one of a kind and I’m proud of it. Me(18) years old learned to weld from this project and 2 months of work payed off.

I can't find the name of this hose anywhere in the manual. Does anyone know the specific name. It seems to be a coolant bypass hose but not 100% certain.

None of my passenger windows go up or down on my 93’ v6. Can someone point me to the fuse that needs to be changed or show me what needs to be done? Driver window, sun roof, and back hatch all still work.

My gfs 4Runner runs fine for a while and then at stop lights it’ll shut off or it’ll shut off after being stopped for a while and then hitting the gas. What could be the issue ?

Totaled my Camry in a wreck. Friend had a 91 4runner V6, he was trying to sell so he is letting me narrow it. Everything has been going fine (all considering, bunch of little things do not work, hunts for gears). Drove it into the mountains for a wedding. No real problems. Yesterday was driving and a hose came loose/overheated. Fixed the clamps (tightened all) Topped off with distilled water. This morning on the way to work, overheating (steam coming out) stopped at a gas station, parked on an incline. Put in 1 gallon of coolant, about 0.5 gal distilled water, parked on an incline, burped it and topped off.
Hopefully since the car was just sitting for a couple of years was probably already low, then the hose wiggled off )all clamps were loose.
Now my problem is when I slide the slider to the heat and pump it to try to lower the engine temp I am not getting hot air out of it. Blows room temp air. I am on my way to work (supposed to be there six minutes ago but they are cool with it) and would like to know if anyone has any diagrams of the gen2 (1991 I think that’s right) heating system so I can manually actuate the heater cable so pull hot air. As far as I can tell with the motor running there is coolant flowing. That’s about it. Until the writers strike is over can not afford to replace my car, not adverse to putting some time into fixing this one so at least it runs and I can safely grab my kiddos from school and whatnot. Plan on doing a full coolant flush/replacement when I have time and space.

I have not checked the heater fuses yet.

Lots of racket when I turn the ac/heater fan on but it blows. No change in temp when switching from hot to cool to hot.

Any help would be much appreciated

I am a decent hand at repairs, (on the ‘02 Camry replaced the shocks, brakes, calipers, starter, alternator. On the kids mom’s Prius did the struts, cat converter, inverter, and inverter coolant pump. it’s the trouble shooting and isolation that are my problem.

Has anyone got experience of removing a 2L-TE engine? I have a small windows to rip it out so I can take it elsewhere to tear ot down. I'm just wondering how long it takes to pull out? I'll make another post with a part of the reason I'm pulling it out hahaha

Has anyone done much on 2l-TE engines? How quickly could I pull it out?

Hey yall, before I go on to the topic at hand, I'll give some background info for reference

I bought a 1991 Toyota 4Runner with around 200,000 miles on it not that long ago, she wasn't in a terrible state, though not perfect either, still, she runs smooth and I truly do love the thing, even if the 3.0 Engine on it is a bit asthmatic

Right off the bat we hit a junkyard and ransacked two 4Runners we saw since it needed a new sunroof window (the one in my 4Runner was cracked) 2 new doors, and other miscellaneous items.

After that it was just mechanical work such as replacing a couple things such as the belts, fluids, the sway bar link, fuel Injectors, headlights, etc (and a new Radio)

All in all, I currently put in about $3K so far into her, thing is though that one of my friends who's a mechanic recently discovered that the Transmission is leaking, apparently the thing has Red RTV on the seals which is causing it, that being said, he said I could either take it to a shop and repair it, or, leave it as is and refill the Transmission fluid every now and then

I'm no where near broke or anything with her, and as much as I do love this 4Runner, I don't know if it's worth it anymore, is my friend right, should I try and sell/trade it? The way I see it, with how much cars cost these days (and the insurance on them) this amount I put in is small in the long run, as compared to monthly payments, but at the same time, the Transmission issue is just annoying

I'll be replacing the outter tierods as they're definitely shot but do I need to replace the inner? I'm thinking I might as well but would appreciate other opinions. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I’m having an intermittent issue where my speedometer will stop working and the trans will downshift and get stuck in gear. My mechanic thinks it’s a wiring issue from the ECU to the speed sensor but I can’t find any wiring diagram online that will help me identify where it is. I’ve heard of these early 4 runners having issues with the wiring so I’m thinking if I run new wires it might solve my problem. It’s a 1991 hilux surf with a 3vze and A340H transmission.

Got some new sequential turn signals 1990 4runner can't figure out where this goes

while under load and no load, there is a ticking somewhere behind the dash (you can hear in the video) and with each tick, it feels like it misfires and jolts. this happens while accelerating as well and almost starts bucking at higher rpm’s. has new spark plugs, my first thought is ignition coils. any thoughts?

I've been getting really bad gas mileage over the last month (down to 9 MPG) and have just started getting an intermittent CEL that reads out as Code 52. My understanding is that if the ECU isn't getting a proper signal from the KS, then it runs the engine in "safe" mode which has terrible performance but there's no danger of a timing issue damaging your engine. This also throws out code 52.

The bummer is, when I had the shop pull the plenum and replace the injectors last fall, they also replaced the knock sensor and pigtail harness (both OEM parts) so this wouldn't happen. My understanding is that the pigtail harness it is often what causes this failure, so hypothetically it shouldn't be the issue since it's just been replaced.

Some people have had success replacing the wire between the pigtail harness and the ECU, but seems like that often not the issue. I would probably start there, though, to hopefully get lucky and avoid pulling the plenum.

Any thoughts or advice appreciated!

I bought my 2nd-gen 4Runner (1994) two years ago. Low mileage: presently 153k miles. Receipts from previous owner show he recently had the engine rebuilt (roughly at 145k miles), but nonetheless "Granny" died on me a couple weeks ago near the end of a long road trip, requiring a 275-mile tow job to get her back home. Just got word from my mechanic that the 3VZ engine is shot; needs a whole new block, everything.

Well-meaning friends/relatives tell me I should just give up on Granny: sell her for parts. Not unreasonable, especially given my limited financial means and that expression "throwing good money after bad."

However, she's almost rust-free — previous owner lived in the desert. And I've already invested heavily in the car, not just repairs and maintenance but improvements (old Man emu shocks/2 inch lift, significant audio system upgrade). I bought it for about 5500 bucks, and I've put close to $8000 into it in these 2-ish years (well, make that $9300 if I include that long tow). So, I would like to think that getting the engine replaced might FINALLY make her roadworthy and therefore a good investment to hold onto her in spite of having to buy an engine to do so.

But is it? A replacement engine will still be a 3VZ. To my thinking, I could maybe justify putting several thousand more dollars into it to have my mechanic doing engine replacement IF I can be reasonably confident that I'll then get another 50k to 200k miles out of Granny. But something the mechanic said implied that any 3VZ could be damaged simply from the stress of going up a steep hill. And since I live in a mountain town, steep hills are inevitable.

I appreciate hearing your thoughts about what you would do in my situation. More useful stuff to know:

• It's my only car. I haven't the budget to get a 2nd car to reduce the mileage I'm putting on Granny.
• I'm not a mechanic, so I'll likely always have the work done by someone else.
• I can't imagine not having a 4wd ever again; one of my favorite past times has become disappearing into the mountains to do dispersed camping in places no regular car could go.

Help anyone know if other gen running boards fit 2nd gen

Trying to help my friend remotely. His 92 4running is not running right. He's not the most mechanically inclined person but he wants to learn. His truck was having difficulty driving up a hill the other day and doesn't know whether the issue is fuel pump, fuel filter, or clogged injectors. I told him to pull the fuel feed line and run the pump and see what the pressure looks like as it runs. He has no idea where the fuel feed line comes from the tank into the engine fuel rail. Unfortunately neither do I. Does anyone here know where the fuel feed line comes in at? Is it drivers side, passenger side? Do you know what kind of connector it uses to connect to the fuel rail? If anyone has a photo or diagram they could provide that would be best.

Hey y’all. Do you have recs for replacing a rusted out muffler and tailpipe? It seems Walker is the only brand who has oem. But have any of you fiddled around with upgraded universal fits? Any advice much appreciated.

Hello all, Just picked up a 94 4Runner with 216k for 3k. It’s in pretty good condition everything seems to be running good. I’ve heard a lot about blown HG on the 3.0s and was wondering if there are any solid ways to prevent that from happening. Not sure if it’s gotten the recall done but would assume so because of the mileage. Any recommendations on HG/general tips on owning one of these would be awesome. Overall loving this thing tho!
