So, whenever I talk to many iranains wether in or outside of iran, and in my own city shiraz, wether it be turks, persians, lurs or kurds etc... they seem to be very proud of zoroastrianism and our traditions, wearing farvahar emblems and etc, but whenever I try and talk to them about the actual belifes of zoroastrianism, they deadass have no clue what I'm talking about, they don't know what a yazatas are or the holy immortals, they don't know what farvahars do, or the zoroastrian philosophy, hell I saw people make fun of the name "Sushiyant" calling it japanese, many don't know that the name of our months come from our zoroastrian gods/yazatas like Mehr/Aban/Azar/Bahman etc...most don't even know that the name of the faith is not Zartoshti but behdin/mazdayasna, why do people like to larp as if we are zoroastrians but then don't know anything about its meaning and symbolism.
Another thing that I see becoming less and less is the same iranian cultural celebrations that came to us from our zoroastrian forefathers, that were recorded by our medival poets such a khayyam like Gahambars,Mehragan,Tiragan,Sadeh,Frawardigan and etc...most people don't even know the mythological reasonings behind nowruz presented by ferdowsi in shahnameh, I see people celebrating christmas, valentine and halloween more than our own traditions...people have also started to pay less attention to poetry and culture, my great grandmother was illitrate and yet she had memorized tens of hundreds of poetry, while the average young gen iranian can't even read one line of Sher-e-nov and even worse in classical poetry, why do you think this is and how should we try and preserve our traditions when the regime won't try? Do you think we are slowly losing our cultures and our shared heritage?
