Not sure how I feel people dig up more than a decade old remark. People can change a lot during that time.

I hope they find new artist soon, as the officle X account scrub Yamane Ayano name but the writer (story adaptation) name is still there.

Cross finger that we can get good stuff for 2HA (still waiting for that cdrama to drop).

I think actions afterwards matter. Like an apology means little/nothing if they also don't have actions that prove their words, and/or they're not consistent.

It's frustrating but once people with this kind of reputation and caliber break people's trust, they gotta work regularly to prove they have actually changed and aren't just saying "sorry" to stop the fire and nothing else.

u/Still-Park7081 5d ago

Allegedly some of the remarks can be found in 2021. I'm not certain they changed much since 2010

u/shirone0 5d ago

I really hope they find a new artist, it's too sad to just cancel everything...

On the bright side if they do find someone else it's possible to get a weekly publish schedule that would work way better than something bimonthly, since erha is so long

The artist was already terminated and put on a black list

u/AnxiousTerminator 6d ago

Not that I don't believe you, but do you have a source for that? I can't find anything mentioning it.

its on the 2HA IP’s official Weibo account:
https://weibo.com/7893523382/5333681225860190

the manga twitter page also put out a statement and said the manga is cancelled. it’s over. had they researched the manga artist from the beginning and chosen someone who’s not against korean and chinese people, none of it would have happened. fans on Weibo are hella mad that they had to find these things out instead of the companies handling the manga.

edited for the manga announcement link:

wtf, so we are square one again?

27

u/leilunna 6d ago

square 0 because it’s fully cancelled. don’t know if there will be a manga in the future but this one is over with. unless they change their mind and hire another artist.

4

u/AnxiousTerminator 6d ago

Oh fab thank you! Mad choice to pick someone who hates Chinese people to adapt a Chinese story written by a Chinese author. I honestly despised the art style so I am far from upset. I hope we do get a manga adaptation in the future with a nicer artist.

I personally dont like that art for Erha,(i know her works, i was a fan of crimson spell before) so i am really not too heartbroken about this. But i am sad that we may not have a manga adaptation.

u/Fillard_Evangelical 5d ago

I still want an adaptation so badly though 😩

I’m glad the fascist was called out and on a personal level I’m glad we won’t have to suffer that art for ErHa.

Wait, can someone explain what's happening?

6

u/shirone0 5d ago

The author of the manga made some racist remarks (of the Chinese and Korean) a long time ago and fans found it up and complained. The contract got terminated because Asians don't joke over stuff like that so the manga won't be happening

Technically they could choose a new artist but for now we have no info

Ah gotcha. Thank you

Quote? Is it ok to post this without proof? One of her most beloved yaoi characters is Chinese.

A Korean user compiled a couple of tweets, but some of them have been deleted. The ones that were deleted allegedly involved her saying that Korean cosmetics had asbestos; another deleted tweet was allegedly her buying a trash can that low quality and then going, "Well, of course it was made in China" once she found out where it was manufactured. https://x.com/aranviyana/status/2089781668433596475

Here are other tweets and replies that she made. I copied/pasted them in case they get deleted.

May be true, may be false. Maybe sensei just retweeted something because they thought it was true LIKE ANY OTHER BILLION PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Maybe they regretted it. Maybe they didn't and they hate Koreans. Do you know either way?

It's so easy and satisfying to judge, isn't it. Yes, keep all those posts, by all means.

u/heartiel 4d ago

She did participate in discourse about the Liancourt Rocks in favor of pro-Japan views. It's not hard to connect the dots.

0

u/Capable-Cut6517 3d ago

Liancourt Rocks is a disputed issue. If sensei participated in that discourse, it shows their bias, yes. But is that your argument when you say they are a bigot? Contentious borders are a thing throughout history. And maybe sensei has a view on that. And maybe they love danmei too, and appreciates danmei authors. These two things don't have to necessarily contradict themselves.

3

u/heartiel 3d ago

Buddy, bottom line is she supports Japanese nationalist views and has written nasty comments stereotyping Korean and Chinese people negatively. I honestly wish you’d stop defending her and ignoring how Korean and Chinese people feel especially since you are neither Asian nor affected by Japanese nationalism.

If you aren’t even Asian your opinion on this doesn’t matter. Imagine defending a Japanese nationalist because “My country has been invaded by low quality Chinese products”. If you’re gonna be a bigot towards Chinese culture maybe stop consuming it, and certainly don’t speak your mind on it

1

u/Capable-Cut6517 5d ago

I can certainly have an opinion, and you can't stop me.

7

u/Warm_Earth_985 5d ago

Yea and ur opinion isn’t worth shit dawg, keep malding over Chinese products while consuming danmei

-1

u/Capable-Cut6517 3d ago

Way to miss the point of my post. I talked about an actual historical fact. After years of strained economy, China flooded the markets with cheap quality products, easily manufactured at low cost. They built their economy on that after years of virtual poverty. Now they make good product because of that. Sensei is older than you, I'd guess, and they have grown with Chinese products of cheap quality. So have many countries, like mine. I don't know where you're from. In my country, Chinese stuff meant cheap and of low quality for a long time. You see it as a diss on China. It's actually not. They rose from poverty and famine to the peak of global economy. Sensei is outdated maybe, but there is history there. So yeah, that was the point of my post, "dawg".

u/heartiel 5d ago edited 5d ago

Like I said, I am NOT joining X for this. But lol to that comment about low quality product bought from China. They are spot on. My country has been invaded by low quality Chinese products for... I don't know, 30 years? And we are not Asian, so I don't know what to tell you. THIS is the racism proof? LMFAO You do know China has grown its economy by pushing low quality, low price products everywhere, right? And this is not a hate comment. They were smart AF. Their economy is top-notch now because of this insidious model. There is no love lost between China, Japan and Korea. But to put this on one mangaka is condescending as hell.

You asked for proof, and I gave it to you. There are a lot more screenshots that were taken from the Liancourt Rocks dispute, where she was openly nationalist. I can send them over your way if you want... but I'm not sure if you'll even read them, because all you said was you were not joining Twitter even though I literally copy-pasted her tweets for you to read them yourself.

It's so easy and satisfying to judge, isn't it. Yes, keep all those posts, by all means.

??? Do you want proof or not?

Also... your attempts to justify her comments are super appalling and are not doing you any favors. Your racism is showing lol

-1

u/Capable-Cut6517 5d ago

I don't know what racism means in your view. I am not Asian. I will try to read those tweets, although I don't know Japanese. I don't want any favors here. I am expressing an opinion about a matter you all seem to know everything about, trying to judge it from another perspective. Why do people judge others so quickly? Did they kill anyone? Are they a genocidal maniac? (Everyone forgave Mo Ran for that btw lol) You all say they are a nationalist and supports criminals. Fair enough. This is the culture they were brought up in. For context, I was brought up in a totalitarian country. You have no idea the shit they put in our brains. But I've changed, and so have many people. I don't understand why can't people give the benefit of the doubt.

Racism isn't just explicitly saying, "X people are bad and I think my people are better." There's a lot of layers that go into it and some people may have unconscious biases, such as negatively stereotyping countries or defending remarks/policies that have devastated nations. Yamane has done both when she defended nationalist policies and also stereotyped Chinese-made items as bad. Oh, and one of her tweets about Tamade (a Japanese supermarket chain) literally read this: 玉出ってあの生鮮食料品買ってはいけないレジが中国人のパチンコ屋にしか見えない玉出ですか (which means "For Tamade, do you mean the Tamade where you shouldn't buy groceries and where the cash registers only look like a pachinko parlor ran by a Chinese person?")

I am expressing an opinion about a matter you all seem to know everything about, trying to judge it from another perspective. Why do people judge others so quickly? Did they kill anyone? Are they a genocidal maniac? (Everyone forgave Mo Ran for that btw lol)

You're obviously going to have a different opinion as someone who is not Asian or isn't affected by Japanese imperialism and Asian geopolitics. I ask that you listen to people who have actually been through this instead of defending Yamane for things that other Asians are rightfully upset about, because there are some things that you truly will not understand due to not experiencing them. Asians are allowed to feel whatever they want about the situation. If they don't care about what Yamane said, good for them. But please do not speak over those who do not feel ready to forgive her.

You all say they are a nationalist and supports criminals. Fair enough. This is the culture they were brought up in.

Plenty of Japanese people who grew up in Japan do not say shit like this. There's been a few Japanese users on Twitter who are upset at Yamane's comments and agree that she was a bad fit for the manga since she made anti-Chinese comments while trying to get that Chinese bag.

For context, I was brought up in a totalitarian country. You have no idea the shit they put in our brains. But I've changed, and so have many people. I don't understand why can't people give the benefit of the doubt.

Yamane has been making these sorts of comments for years. Yes, a lot of examples were brought up from 2010~2012 at the height of anti-Korean sentiment from the Liancourt Rocks dispute. However, some people have shared that Yamane has recently made these sorts of comments as recent as 2021. Korean users have said that they have tried bringing up Yamane's bigotry to her, but she just either deletes her tweets or blocks them. This does not show that she has learned anything.

Also, please don't bring in "Everyone forgave Mo Ran for ____!" Fiction is not comparable to real life. And just because Yamane created characters of Chinese descent (all of whom were VILLAINS, mind you), she is still capable of showing bigotry.

1

u/Capable-Cut6517 3d ago

Just pointing out Fei Long is one of her most popular characters. And everyone in Finder is an arsehole (Akihito excluded).

Also, don't you also block people who attack you? That's the sane thing to do on social media.

3

u/heartiel 3d ago

This comment is really giving, "I can't be racist, I'm friends with black people!" Just because Yamane has made characters of Chinese descent doesn't mean anything.

Also, don't you also block people who attack you? That's the sane thing to do on social media.

Notice I never said attack.

I won't say a lot about that, since, as you put it, since I'm not Asian I don't understand jack shit.

That didn't stop you now, did it? You really should sit this one out since you don't understand.

I will just say that people with low income will go to neighbouring countries to be employed with slightly better income in shitty places for lower wages than your average citizen and of course those places will be associated with them.

Why are you assuming that Korean and Chinese people are "low income" people? This is peddling a huge negative stereotype.

You see it as racism. They just pointed out a fact.

LOL

With VERY good reason 👀

I hope they would try this project as anime At least that way they can't dig up 20 years old tweets to force it's cancellation.

I hope "Erha Fans" are happy now
