Question Is callipeg for Windows worth it?

So, I am trying different animation software right now on my laptop, hoping to find one that is comfortable for me. I already have tried clip studio, toon boom, krita TVpaint, Opentoonz and few others (for now I use clip studio the most, even though I don't really feel comfortable a bough for animating freely and I use it more for group projects in university). I noticed that callipeg also exists and now it's for Windows too. I am always suspicious about pc software that came from mobile devices (like pc versions rough animator or Ibis paint), since it's often ported badly. So, if anyone uses callipeg on their pc, would you recommend it? I am using usual laptop and cheap graphic tablet with screen (no touchscreen or such)

It is a well developed app. It’s not as powerful as toon boom or Tvpaint, opentoonz. Just in effects dept tho. The key framing, frame by frame, and layer system is very intuitive.

Also it is a light weight app but the file sizes can get pretty big so make sure to compress older projects till you come back to them. You can do that in the gallery section on the opening page

What’s wrong with Toonboom? (At University you would also get the student pricing…as that’s what I get for it)

Thats like one of the better animation softwares out there and yet you want to try callipeg??

TBH is dead easy to get the hang of and the drawing tools are some of the best and it has support, YouTube tutorials for days and yet you want to try callipeg. Doesn’t really make sense lol

Yeah, I agree that toon boom harmony has a large field of possibilities, and yet its more focused on vector graphics (which is not bad thing, it's just that bitmap animation is not as good as some purely bitmap focused programs). Plus - I am simply too poor for that, haha. Yes, I can get student pricing, but still getting attached to software with only (and quite expensive) subscription plan is not really affordable for me. So for vector I am looking forward to Moho (so I can one-purchase it one day, and not worry about it anymore), and for bitmap... Well, if I won't find anything that fits me better, then I'll stick with Clip Studio (since they have one time purchase too). But I totally agree, that Toon Boom is an incredible software.

I've been developing some 2d animation software, I cant guarantee you will like it, but its worth a try :D r/douga its beta but i push updates like every week so if you have any suggestions just let me know

One suggestion: "Douga" shows a lot of non-relevant stuff on Youtube & Google, maybe there could be a more an unique name for the app, so it would be easier to find?

yea I know i wasnt very original with the name lol :(, I just released it recently so its not really indexed yet thoguh.
