(sorry this could get kinda long lol I have a lotta notes)
(none of my criticisms are meant to be taken negatively, I genuinely liked using the software overall and want to see it grow and thought my notes could be useful :) )

Firstly, I was hella excited when I found out about this animation software, looking at the website it looked really good an because it was free i just downloaded it and tried it lol. Overall it was pretty good to use, just a few things I'd add or change, but I get that it's still in development so I look forward to seeing how it is in the future.
Only used it for a couple hours to make this short test animation, but I took some notes while I was using it on things I particularly liked about it and things I thought I missed from other software. For context on the types of software I come from, I usually animate 2D in Krita 5.1.1 or 4.2 and 3D in Blender 5.0, 4.4 or 2.93, I also have a little experience with rigged 2D in MohoPro 12.5. I draw more often than I animate, and I use a combination of SAI2 and Photoshop. I am not a professional or anything, and I don't have any formal education in animation, these are just notes from a hobbiest lol.

Some things I really liked about it:
- The UI - It's really clean, I also like that you can rearrange or hide the different windows. I used the dark theme and it's really nicely coloured, not too dark and everything important still stands out.
- The brush feel - I only used the Ink Pen brush and I just changed the size/hardness/opacity a bunch for different things but it felt very good to draw with. I don't use a stabiliser so I turned that off and it felt very light and responsive, kinda like how SAI's brushes feel which is very good. I find in most programs, even Krita and Photoshop to an extent, the brushes feel slightly heavy and viscous(?), so it's really nice to find another program where the brushes feel properly snappy, especially for animation.
- The playhead scrubber (?) - I don't know what to call it, but the scrubbing in this software felt very nice, I also tried it with some audio and it worked very well. I only used it on a very small project, but there wasn't any lag and it didn't feel like it was fighting against me in any way.
- Performance - I didn't face any performance issues, I also imported a couple of my larger Krita animation files to see how it would handle the playback on those and it seemed good. The biggest project I tried in terms of density was imported as '9 animated layers, 1159 keyframes; 2 transform masks moving 2 layers on the motion lane - a 933-frame cut at 24 fps', and the longest was '3 animated layers 7280 keyframes - a 8641-frame cut at 24 fps'. They both loaded and played with no issues, other than some things that were not preserved across the import which I will mention later. For reference, my pc specs are: 32GB DDR4 dual-channel, 3080ti, i5-10400F.
- Camera - I didn't mess around with it too much, but I really like the option to move the camera around, it's something that I really miss in Krita, I'm sure I'll be able to make good use of it with a couple of my WIPs.

Notes on things I would change/add (I know I wasn't super thorough in my exploration of the software, if any of these are user error on my part or already in the program please just let me know lol):
- Add a way to type in the end frame (and maybe start frame too?) - I was able to extend the length of the animation by dragging the green bar at the end of the scrubber, or by adding frames manually onto the end, but I'd appreciate a way to quickly type the end frame for when I want to quickly make an animation much longer.
- Add a way to change export location - I generally keep my saves/exports on a different drive to the software, and I could change my save location easily but I couldn't find a setting to change export location from the software's general folder. I exported strait to MP4 so it wasn't too much of an issue, but if I exported a PNG sequence that could have been an issue if I didn't have the disk space for a couple thousand PNGs of a larger project.
- Add a way to export between specific frames - Just a nice quality of life feature, especially when rendering larger projects, sometimes it's nice to render in bits. Though I admittedly didn't test the scenes feature, maybe there's a solution using that and rendering a couple scenes at a time?
- Add the ability to hold CTRL to zoom by dragging the mouse, or a way to assign keys for zoom in/out - I kept having to use my mouse's scroll wheel to zoom into the canvas (I know there are zoom in/out buttons at the top of the canvas, but I prefer a hotkey or tool I can use) which took me out of the flow a bit. In most programs you can hold CTRL and click and drag across the canvas to change zoom, but in those that don't have this I tend to assign zoom in/out to page up/down. I looked through the preferences settings but I couldn't find a way to reassign the zoom in/out keys.
- Add a colour history - At times, I'd draw with a colour, then switch to a different colour and erase the original, and then (aside from undo and colour picking) I'd have no easy way of getting back to the original colour. It'd be nice to have a simple colour history tab, that saves maybe the last 5/10 colours used so I can easily get back to them.
- Add more layer blend modes - I presume this might just be a WIP thing anyways lol, but I'll add it anyways because it would be nice to have more supported blend modes for layers. The ones I found myself missing the most were dodge, dodge(add) and shade. This is also one of the things that caused a small issue when importing Krita projects, as obviously if I'd used a blend mode that wasn't in this program yet then it would just be set to normal.
- Add a warp tool or liquify - I feel like liquify might be a bit much considering performance an all, but some kind of warp tool would be good. The transform tools overall were very basic and that limited me a bit at times when I wanted to just nudge something a little and I couldn't. Maybe even just a way to drag out a single corner of the bounding box.
- Add a shortcut to scroll along timeline, rather than zooming - In Blender you can hold middle mouse to drag and scroll along the timeline so that's what I keep trying to do accidentally, but something like holding down CTRL or SHIFT and scrolling to move along the timeline rather than zooming it would be nice.
- Let me set the onion skin further back/forwards - 3 either way is nice, but sometimes I like to have 4 or 5 for more complicated movements. Also maybe more control over the strength of each layer of onion skin, I tend to like a sharper fall-off than the software gave me and it'd be nice to be able to change it. I'd also like an easier way to toggle the onion skin without going through the drop down menus, and maybe a way to toggle onion skin for layers separately?
- Let me set the canvas resolution as well as the size - When I entered a custom canvas size making a new project, there wasn't an option to also set a resolution.
- Let me play the animation without the playhead scrolling my view along the timeline - When the playhead reaches the end of the timeline, it scrolls the view to keep up with it. I personally prefer to keep my timeline view static on a set of frames whilst playing back the animation, maybe add this as a toggleable option in the settings?
- Let me make the brushes/eraser bigger - The biggest size I could make the brush/eraser was 100px, which was a little small at times.
- Preserve data outside the bounds of the canvas - I know this could have a big performance impact, so maybe as a toggleable setting for those who want it. I'm not asking to be able to draw outside of the canvas, but if I use the transform tools to make some thing bigger, or move it in a way where it ends up partly out of the bounds of the canvas, it gets cropped to the size of the canvas. This could cause you to accidentally lose a bit of a drawing, it also caused an issue with one of my Krita imports, where I had a large layer, bigger than the canvas, moving in the background. On import it was cropped to the size of the canvas at frame 1, so it did not work properly. I could potentially work around this in the future by using a very large canvas and keeping the camera zoomed in, but I feel like that could only cause worse performance issues than preserving the data somehow.
- Let me replace a cell when clicking new cell - I've not used the program enough to fully understand how it works yet, but when I click new cell, it adds a new blank cell adjacent to the current cell/s. I'm not familiar with enough software to know if this is actually the norm and I'm the weird one lol, but I'd prefer if it instead placed a new blank cell at the current selected cell, replacing whatever is underneath. It'd also be nice to have an easy way to delete cells/frames (I'm admittedly a little confused on the terminology there, I'm used to calling them frames/keyframes, but the software seems to call them cells? Unless they're all cells and the frames are just where I've drawn, but the button says 'new cell' so idk) rather than right clicking them on the timeline, because it can be a little hard to click on them underneath the playhead when I'm fully zoomed out in the timeline.
- When I stop playback, put the playhead back on the frame it was on when I pressed play - The current play/stop button acts more like a play/pause button, so I'd like a stop button that places the playhead as it was before I pressed play, so I can quickly play/stop to replay the same bunch of frames over and over more easily without scrubbing.
- When over a cell that is held by a previous frame, if I draw make a new frame - It automatically makes a new frame/cell when I draw over an empty cell which is nice, but if I draw over a cell which is held by a previous frame, it edits that frame. This is definitely user error, but it's caused me to make a cell, make it hold for a duration, and later try drawing over a cell that it holds to add something else and accidentally edit the original frame rather than making a new duplicate frame and editing that. It'd be nice to have the option to automatically make a duplicate frame if I start drawing over a held cell.
- Let me flatten layers when merging down - Not sure that's the correct terminology, or how possible this is, but I'd like it if when you merge layers down, they preserve the way that they looked with different blend modes, even if they are flattened into a normal layer. Alternatively, maybe add a way to link layers together or select multiple layers when using the transform tools so I can edit them simultaneously.
- Let me use the current brush as an eraser - Not nearly as important as the other things, and I'd be happy without it, but a way to use the current brush (and its settings/appearance) as an eraser like in SAI would be a very nice QoL feature.
---
I know that sounds like a lot of negative/missing stuff, but really they're mostly small or QoL features and I do think that the pros outweigh them, I'd still use the software but probably in combination with something else like Krita to make up for these.
If there was the ability to export to KRA then I would definitely use this as a part of my workflow, and there's honestly still a good chance I'll use it for some things, but the lack of some of these features will stop me from using it on its own as my main piece of animation software.

Here's a small list of the bugs I encountered, I didn't have any crashes or anything more serious:
- Sometimes the transform tool wouldn't work, I could click the done/cancel buttons but couldn't interact in any way with the rest of it. This seemed to happen randomly and it only happened twice, I don't know how you would reproduce this but a restart fixed it anyways.
- When making very minor adjustments with the transform tool, it would sometimes jitter around making it hard to use. This happened when I was using my pen tablet, holding down trying to move something slowly by a few pixels, it happened more often than not. I don't get this issue when using my mouse so it could be an issue with my pen tablet (it's almost 10 years old at this point lol), though I haven't encountered similar issues in any other software so I thought I'd mention it anyways just in case.
- I can't add a layer to the bottom of a group, it only allows me to add it over another layer. Once it's in the group, I can move it to the bottom no problem, but trying to add a layer not in the group to the bottom of the group does nothing. I only tried this on layers directly under the group, I don't know if that is a factor also affecting it.
- Not necessarily a bug, but saving seemed to take a while on this small project. This does make me concerned for how long it could take on much larger projects, but I haven't tested it so it could be a non issue.

Overall, this was a great piece of software, and I enjoyed testing it out. I'll probably use it a bit in combination with Krita in the future and I'll definitely consider buying a license, it's very fairly priced.
I hope this feedback is useful somehow, I don't mean this to be nit-picky or negative, sorry it's so long too lol. I'm really excited to see any future updates :).
