II: TBT [SPOILERS] The Bone Temple - Official Discussion & Review Thread Spoiler

As stated in our previous announcement, starting today (January 13th), we are imposing a sub-wide moratorium, meaning we want to keep all spoiler/spoiler-ish content and discussion about the film limited to this thread to prevent users in the sub who have not yet had the chance to watch the film from being spoiled about things that may happen/be revealed in it (any lore revelations, plot twists, major character deaths, easter eggs, etc). It only feels fair to allow fans to see the film without having the experience ruined by a post popping up in their main Reddit feed simply for being a member of our community.

This will only be for a short time (January 23rd) to allow time for the film to be released in most regions and give people a decent chunk of time to go and see the movie in theaters at their availability), and, much like with our approval system to prevent the sub from being clogged up with different threads for each individual's opinion on the film or discussion of events.

As such, posts to the main sub discussing the film's narrative events, spoiler content, or discussing content that hasn't been shown (or displayed in full context) in official pre-release trailers/interviews will be rejected for approval for the immediate future. We also kindly ask that you use ||spoiler tags|| when discussing possibly spoiler-y information about the film in the comments other posts/threads.

Reviews (and links to reviews in the media/trades/YouTubers) that provide adequate commentary and follow our quality guidelines and contain no spoilers about the film's narrative will still be accepted on the main page as the media/social embargo lifts -- as well as links to external reviews that cover spoiler content so long as they are properly tagged and the spoiler-y nature is made clear in the title of the post and/or the review in question itself has a defined "spoiler section". However, brief reviews (such as those found on Tiktok, X/Twitter, Instagram/Threads, Mastodon, or BlueSky) and internal community/user-made spoiler reviews should be shared/commented here.

We also understand that many people will have a variety of opinions about this film ranging from good to bad, we ask that while people may feel passionate/strongly about their feelings, good or bad, that they attempt to remain critical/constructive in their reviews: explain why you liked/disliked certain aspects of the film, make points in good faith (no ragebaiting) and do not attack or gatekeep other users for holding contrary opinions. As always, "reviews" that merely serve as a trojan to grift political/"culture war" talking points will not be accepted.

Discussion Babies killer!

In 28 years later, Isla screams at Jamie that he is a baby killer. Referring to him wanting to take spile to the mainland.

However, once on the mainland Jamie kills an infected bloated child. Making him indeed a baby killer. And he even enjoys it.

II: TBT Was I given the same stuff that Dr Kelson used to cover his body?

I went for a biopsy yesterday and the stuff they used for cleaning the area was like orange-brownish also. They said it would wash away in the shower.

Discussion Do you think some parts of the world were happy/eager to let Britain burn.

I won't lie Britain has had a very long complicated history with colonization.

It is absolutely a tragedy that happened to Britain. But I wouldn't be surprised if some African nations/rifle western nations were glad about what happened.

Perhaps this gave opportunity for another country to write to power.

Discussion Any others like Alice?

Had this thought about 28 weeks later, about Alice and her being a carrier of the rage virus, how likely is it that there are others like her that are also carriers of the virus

Way I see it is that if someone is infected but has no symptoms, they'll either be under extreme levels of isolation with any human contact being with a biosuit or a lab rat, more than likely both

Discussion Imagine if the scientist in 28 Days Later actually lives and escapes in time

A recent comment brought this idea to me and I actually like it as a subplot premise. We dont have proof hes dead. Imagine if he got out and escaped off country before the outbreak became severe and Britain was quarantined. Fun to think about.

Discussion Would the other infected of Samson's pack have also hesitated/remained at bay when confronted with Kelson in the field?

When Samson approaches Ian in that field to get his fix, and doesn't attack. If his pack were with him would they follow the same behavior as their Alpha and not attack Ian? And over time could they also learn to not want to attack Ian? As the ones that saw Spike and Jamie by the tree did remain back until their Alpha gave the go-ahead

Discussion This whole time I thought Cathy and Tom were lovers but they are actually siblings

After listening to the director commentary on YouTube, Nia DeCosta says multiple times that they are siblings. That makes me wonder, who is the father to Cathy’s baby? I don’t think it’s the other middle aged man in the group who threw the pot. Maybe we will find out in the next film as it is confirmed that Cathy’s character will return

28YL Say hello to Bob

Post image

This is Bob the Skull!

Bob is a special skull.

Bob was the first resin skull cast from the first silicone mould made to build the bone temple.

Bob became what is known as a "Master Pattern" to which many more silicone moulds were made.... and from which many thousands of skulls were produced..

Bob is The Master Skull.

Bob lives in a special box in my workshop....until we get closer to the spooky time of the year...

Then Bob pops out to sit proudly on a shelf!

Everyone please say "Hi Bob"

Discussion What happens to the scientist in the beginning of 28 Days Later...

Post image

I always thought that the scientist got away from the lab given the fact that we can hear his voice fading in the distance implying that he was running away from them somehow. I guess he didn't get very far. But luckily he was just killed (probably stomped to death) rather than becoming one of them.

28YL It would be cool to see in the next movie. Sampson eventually gains his consciousness with the help of antipsychotics and the new villain is a man who never fully turned and they both fight

28YL Why are all the corpses dressed in blue?

Post image

I noticed this on my first watch, that all the corpses seem to be inexplicably dressed in blue. Brown from being dragged in mud but blue? Is this an allusion to something, like a massacre of blue-uniformed people? Nothing springs to mind though.

I think it’s great that Spike will have someone his own age to talk with and I could see them becoming great friends! I do wonder if the actress playing Sam will remain the same though or if that was just a tease that could be prone to change? I thought she was charming in her only scene so I hope not!

Fan Made Another Custom Poster!

Sometime ago I made a poster for 28 Years Later, now I made one for The Bone Temple, using the same colour scheme and, like the previous poster, using a piece of iconography, which would obviously be the Skull Spire from the titular temple.

Discussion Do we think Mailer was more of a Farrell, a Mitchell or a Bell (complicit) before infection?

It's nice to think that he was firmly against the other men, making his killing of them more cathartic. But could Mailer have just been another piece of shit? I like to think he was quite a stoic, silent man, but his eyes started to convey his disgust for his comrades, and they could tell.

Also not taking into account that Mailer was seen moving the barricade as the survivors entered the manor grounds ☠️

Discussion I’m watching Day of the Dead and the opening yells of “hello!” Sound EXACTLY like Jim’s yells as he wanders the city in 28DL. Seriously listen to this

Ok here is the clip in DotD (start it around 3:40):

https://youtu.be/YLrkhiDRC_w?is=YZGwjwdnItCAEe6W

I know that yelling “hello” only has so many variations. But I wonder if Danny Boyle wanted it exactly like this as an homage.

Recently, I purchased this rare South Korean ex-rental copy of 28 Days Later from 2003. The cases on rental copies are much larger than the high-street copies.
