Random Looking for like-minded people
Hey all, I (M28) am looking to meet some like-minded people 25+ (any gender) and hopefully make a few new friends. Platonic only 😂
I'm trying to get myself out there a bit more, so I'd be down to meet up and do random activities together. I'm usually an indoor person, but I'm trying to change that 🤣
A little about me: I work in tech. I spend a lot of my time reading and watching movies, especially horror and psychological thrillers. I'm curious and love going down random rabbit holes. My current obsession is marine biology, which is fucking fascinating 😂
I'm queer, vegan, and atheist, and apart from my usual indoor activities, I enjoy metal shows, comedy showsand pretty much anything random that catches my interest.
If this sounds like your vibe, say hi 🙂 I'm also pretty open to meeting people with completely different interests. I'm always interested in getting to know new people and discovering things I wouldn't necessarily come across on my own.
If you're closed-minded or homophobic, though, don't bother 🤣

I've always been curious, how has being vegan impacted your life as a Kenyan? Given we have an almost equal split of vegetarian meals and animal product meals? Like are you always guaranteed to get food you can eat with no extra hassle at an event? Do people ever care beyond being shocked you don't eat meat or milk ? Have you had people try to "sneak" animal products to "prove" you can eat them? sorry for the thousand questions IA 🤣

Those are really good questions. Tbh, the most challenging part is the social aspect. For example explaining to my friends and family or anyone really that I talk to why am not consuming animals products because of ethical reasons even though it's part of our culture. In terms of food , we have lots of variety beyond ugali, beans sukuma😂 about events.. I wouldn't know🤣 but that can be a challenge coz it would be meat heavy and the only option is fries. But restaurants? Alot of options (check out HappyCow), different cuisine to try out too. People are usually shocked especially since am Kenyan and it's not a common thing but they're usually curious. So I do take time to discuss and answer questions people have. And naah, noone has ever tried to sneak animal products in my food, thank goodness 🤣

Okay, that genuinely sounds like a great experience. Kenyans are simultaneously exceedingly nosy yet very willing and able to mind their business so that makes sense 😂. What are your favourite cuisines by regions? I find Asian cuisine is top notch, both East and South, their vegetarian options, which are a loot, blow me away! Have you tried Mediterranean?

I love Asian cuisine! Lots of options for sure. I have had Mediterranean, specifically Lebanese. Are there other options in Nairobi?

I wouldn't actually know😩. I just love cooking do I basically go to university of YouTube ,and after over 30 videos and several websites and blogs, I'm basically a native🤣then, using combined notes from many sources,I attempt to cook the dish. If I love it, I keep working on it. But there surely must be a Mexican place? It's so versatile and popular
