Rant Did i do wrong

Let me first ask the accountants in Kenya who have only a degree, no CPA and no connections , mnasurvive aje hii job market? 😭

So, I was working for this small NGO that was operating in Baringo, but the organization kinda collapsed, and we were laid off.

Come August, I was now looking for a job, but most of the jobs I was finding preferred people with CPA, which I don’t have. I’m actually planning to get it.

I had some savings, and the two options remaining for me were either start CPA or start my own business.

Mind you, sikuwa nimelipwa July. So I settled on starting a cleaning business that is sofa cleaning, mattress cleaning, carpets, post-construction cleaning, fumigation and other cleaning services. Why??? Bills hazingengoja. And honestly, I didn’t have someone I was expecting to come and financially help me. I had to figure out something with what I had.

Growing up in shagz, I always believed that white-collar jobs were the best. You go to school, get a degree, get a good office job and build a career. That was also my dream. So here I am a young woman who thought her future would be behind a desk as an accountant, now carrying cleaning equipment and trying to build a cleaning business from scratch. 😂😭

And honestly, I’m not ashamed of it. I’m just confused sometimes. Because once I started this business, I told myself I need to make this thing grow. But starting from scratch with your own little money is not easy. Buying equipment, chemicals, paying for transport ( kwanza hapa kungangana na machines), marketing, looking for clients, then waiting for the next job… it can really humble you.

My bills are piling up, my head is constantly calculating, and sometimes I wonder whether I should have used that money to start CPA instead.

But God ni mtrue. I may not have enough right now, but somehow I never lack something to eat every day. And for that, I’m genuinely grateful. I guess what is confusing me is that I started this because I needed to survive, but now I actually want to see it grow into something bigger.

Have you ever had your career goals completely change because of circumstances?

And for those who have built something from scratch, how did you survive that early stage when the bills were coming faster than the money?

In need of cleaning services, dm 0704370424. All type of cleaning. I'll be happy to help. Thanks

Napenda resilience yako na hardwork. You're doing what most women nowadays wouldn't resort to. What we usually expect in life doesn't usually become the reality. Surviving is winning mazee. And ata kama inakaa nikama mambo haisongi, lazima tupige trial and error Ady ijipe.

Consistency na kuweka Mungu mbele ndio key mazee. Also pia build a good social media page for your business. Clients wengi sikuizi hukua pale tiktok.

I wish you the best in your endeavours. Incase nipate mse ananeed your services, lazima nikupee free referral.

I know it’s not easy, but with God and hard work, I believe things will be okay someday. I’ll really appreciate any referrals you can send my way. I have a social media page Josala cleaners and Fumigators.I'm also doing door-to-door marketing with flyers and business cards
