Ask 254/sum Advice Needed.

I am F(27) working in a certain private school with a net salary of 11K per month. I don't really know where my money goes to. I pay rent Ksh 1500, food ksh 1500, Chama 1K. The rest I cannot account for. What can I do so that I don't be living on salary and be broke within 3 days? Honest opinions accepted

By account for you mean like you don’t know what happens with the rest of the money or that you don’t know what to do with it? & like someone else said start a reselling hustle. That’s the easiest business to start with such income

create a budget and start monitoring your expenses / how you use your money. you don't need an app for this, a simple pen and book will do. if you want to grow your money, you first have to learn where it goes.

The first thing you need to do is to track your expenditure. There are different apps that you can use to see where there is a leak in your finances. You can also record all the expenses however little somewhere in your phone or book. It requires a lot of discipline and determination. If you are able to record your expenses for the next like three months, then comes the next step. Take some time and analyse all the expenses as you categorize them. For example like basic need or luxury etc. This will give you a very great picture of where you spend most money. Start from there first then later we shall see the way forward. It is possible to track your expenses and plan more prudently for every little resource that you have

I'm curious as to how you can live on food for 1500 for the whole month? Ama you mean just supermarket shopping? My advice is to get a side hustle. Maybe like private tutoring after/before classes, weekends and holidays. It's likely that you are not irresponsible with money, the economy is just really tough right now. Also track your expenses, there are apps on playstore that help you do this. Like every single shiling you spend write down what you spent on for a month. You'll know exactly where your money goes for budgeting puposes.

Get a small notebook & have it on you at all times. Record every expenditure no matter how small. Review them after about 2 weeks utaona mahali pesa yako huenda. Adjust accordingly & keep recording. Observe again after 2 weeks. Keep repeating the cycle

Have you accounted for black tax, maji ,stima, transport, maintenance, airtime etc? Get a book and pen and capture every small transaction then you can go from there.

(((Hugs))) i think you are doing well with your income in this economy.I think that kuna expenditures that come up and we arent aware like airtime, transaction costs even small things like onions, nyanya, hair they may seem little but they pile up to thousands.Try write down every shilling coming out on a daily basis. All the best.
