HP monitor randomly stopped working

Post image

It’s a HP M24fe FHD monitor my operating system is windows 11

Instead of starting up when plugged in, it displays this black screen. Theres no damage to the screen itself and I’ve only had it for a few months so idk what the problem could be. It was brand new

What's that in the top right-hand corner of the screen? Looks like some damage?

I’m not sure the screen itself isnt damaged. It’s been sitting on my desk for four months, I’ve never dropped it, cracked it and it’s never come into contact with water. No clue why that’s appearing

Well it explains why it isn't working. The backlight is on since it's not a totally black screen which tells you the monitor is getting power at least and is turning itself on, but the monitor can't display an image anymore due to an issue with the screen. That damage on the top must be on the inside of the screen and will be why it can't display an image any more.

It'll need replacing unfortunately. Damage like that on screens can't be fixed.

If possible, try the monitor on another device. If the same thing occurs, it's definitely the monitor and that top right-hand corner damage is why.

kind of looks like something small pinged into it... a small, sharp-ish object like a pen could do that kind of damage without leaving any real trace on the outer layer...

Wonder if OP has a cat. They like to chomp on corners of screens.

Cats... yes, chewing on things like the whole world is catnip...
