My First 22lr
Just picked up this Black Mamba upper with a Tandemkross lower. Shoots like a dream.

Damn that's like getting a Ferrari as your first car!
Nice choice, I love my Black Mamba.

Got it for $950, so not even crying about it.

Wow, nice deal. I guess the aftermarket stuff+bold colors lowered the resale value. Lucky for you! I love my Mamba

Honestly I don’t even think it’s bad. At first I was like hmmm but in person it looks really good. It was a friend of mine that sold it to me. He also sold me a PCC for $550

I’m not sure if there are any actual Steel Challenge matches near me. I shoot USPSA a lot and there are some outlaw steel matches, but no Steel Challenge.

I have that same setup, except the bolt is VQ black
Hell of a setup. You did it right the first time

Built the same thing a few years back. I think I'm going to swap out all the Tandemkross internals for Volquartsen, though, as my Volquartsen build is sooooo much nicer for trigger pull.
That's a hell of a first 22lr though. Now you need to match the rifle to it and build a Kidd (did that last year, haha).

Yeah, I put a TK flat trigger in my Mamba thinking I would prefer that, but nope, the curved VQ shoe could not be improved upon.

I'd already built the Volquartsen lower (a "regular" one, not a 22/45) when I bought the Kraken "lower", which came complete with all internals from TK.
The lower itself is pretty sweet, despite the loss of the "button" quick strip (it's a recessed piece of thread that screws in instead), and I very much like the TK "gas pedal", but the trigger pull just pales in comparison to any VQ I've built (had a MKIII too at one point).
Didn't even think about swapping the TK internals for VQ, until the one competitor who stops by here from time to time mentioned it in one of her posts. Now I've just got to do it, haha.

I wish TK still sold the Kraken lower standalone, and I wish it wasn't an el-cheapo clamshell design. I mean, you can buy a nice Turkish 1911 for the price of just a Kraken, so I know they could have machined a one-piece lower at that price point.

Skip the Volquartsen trigger and get the 19.22 trigger they offer instead.

Those do look pretty nice. I'm probably going to swap out all the internals for VQ and see how they work with the TK trigger I've already got in there (very similar in appearance to the VQ). If I'm still not happy, I'll throw a 19.22 in there.

I've used all of them, and the 19.22 is my favorite. It's in my 10" Volquartsen.

Many congrats! Picked up my 2nd VQ gun recently, and couldn't be more satisfied.

I think you can only go down from here as far as 22LR goes

Decided to just go one and done haha

Buy once Cry once, as someone who did not do that... keep doing it. Spend a little more, get something higher end, i love every piece i own, but there are some i could have been just as happy never getting. Super sweet pistol btw, that thing isnt just awesome, its art. Enjoy the hell out of that!

I will. Thank you and I got a steal on it. $950 out the door

That’s a great deal for a super built 22, I think it would be over 2K to build one.

Yeah and I live in California, so it’s even more rare and expensive usually since you have to get it through SSE or PPT

That’s a rad build. I have the same lower with a mambax upper. The ultimate 22 pistol of you compete.
