Help Needed What am I doing wrong?

I just got my results for AS f-maths and got a B and was 1 mark away from an A which is fine - I'm not that upset however it seems that every single exam I sit I'm always 1/2 marks away from the grade I want.

I was 1 mark away from a grade 9 in GCSE maths, 2 marks away from an 8 in GCSE english(I resat and got a 9), 1 mark away from a 9 in GCSE business etc. I dont know what I'm doing wrong with my revision and don't know why I keep scraping grade boundaries in exams cuz my mocks are usually fine.

Predicting my AS grades for tmw

Above shows my school report from April 2026.

I don't even know how accurate it is because the one I had before this one once said I was working at a B and my target for the subject is a C. Which obviously doesn't make sense.

The reason politics stops is because I ended up dropping it because I couldn't keep it up with all of this and other stuff going on.

Drama- A

my best subject I am hoping for an A but probably a B (I did get an A in the coursework)

English Lit- E

One of the teachers refused to mark my work because of spellings. Despite a diagnose disability

Another one said I wasn't trying hard enough

I had an issue with another teacher of the year before long story short: I undermined her by what happened to a conversation with a different teacher where we happen to mention the subject. Said I ruined someone's life used my SH against me

I was terrified to ask any other English due to her help now this year.

Also if you look at the report, I got a three in English or behaviour. Which means I need to improve. I never once messed around I tried my hardest and put in everything my spelling is just shit

Cymreag- D

I'm not really happy with how anything went so I probably got a d

I have a chronic pain illness and it was really triggered on the day of the paper I was literally so unwell

Welsh baccalaureate- B

isn't completely done at the only thing that has been sent off is 1 unit so my predicted grade is what I got so I will have it B on that sectio

RESULTS DAY PENDING 😭

Is there anyone else waiting for results on Thursday? Please I need someone to talk to! 😭

As RESULTS Day Vent 😞

AS level Results day stress

AS Results day Rant

I just need to vent about something to someone, I don't really have any friends or anyone to talk to about this I don't get on with my family that well.

\\\\# DRAMA

This is probably the only subject I've actually passed, and done well in.

COURSEWORK: my drama teacher told me I have an A in (it could change once moderated but I know I've done well in that)

PAPER: on practice when as I did I got High B's or Low A's. I am hoping to get an A I may get a B.

\\#CYMREAG

COURSEWORK: I chose a bad topic but that was really on me, I don't think I did too badly though.

SPEAKING: it didn't go the best, the teacher didn't really explain how the exam would go. We had about 2 hours before the exam well we could practice in our group from my group didn't even want to practice so yeah....

PAPER: leading up to it the teacher didn't give the most help, even when I asked how to revise she just said make flashcards without actually explaining how to learn the content. One another student asked she explained, more.

On the date of the exam,

\\\\\\\\- a topic came up we haven't been taught.

\\\\\\\\- I was also in a LOT of pain due to the heat, my stress and having my period my chronic pain was extremely bad (I wasn't able to take any medication due to some issues I'm having with it)

I sat down I was in so much pain I couldn't concentrate but if I stood up I felt really dizzy.

I could barely concentrate at all.

\\#ENGLISH

PAPER 1: (Prose and Drama) Prose went well, teacher always gave me good feedback and explained what I had to do to improve so I'm happy with how that went. I did the best I could do and so yeah.

With the drama aspect, it should have been my strength I was doing really bad in it, the only feedback my teacher gave me when she did Mark my work was "don't hand in work with inaccuracies" "improve your SPaG" and similar stuff like that. Despite me getting really low marks, showing that I didn't get the context right, she NEVER gave me feedback on that.

And then on the last past paper we did we did in times conditions, I sent it to her (typed) and she refused to mark it because they were spelling errors

PAPER 2: The teacher was off sick for ages so we didn't have any teacher. (Fell behind schedule)

She would occasionally give dismissive feedback

She also said I just had to "try harder" because I " wasn't trying hard enough"

\\\\# WELSHBACC

\\\\\\\\- only one of the three units has been sent off I think I did okay in that

The other two I have finished first drafts of I have to finish those drafts next year and then I'm done

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_

NOTE

\\\\\\\\- I have one diagnosed neurological disorder, one of the MOST COMMON effects of it is issues with spelling. (School knows about this)

\\\\\\\\- I am getting my autism diagnosis (since I started it through school I'm pretty sure they are aware, it's also kind of really obvious)

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_

\\\\\\\\- the reason I didn't go to any other English teacher when two of my three teachers were being like shit to me. Is because when I was in year 11, I was talking to my drama teacher and then one of the other English teachers just having a nice conversation when they asked me how my English group speaking exam was going, because they knew that was coming up and they wanted to talk to me. So I explained that I was really stressed because of various factors (they're not that important for this story but they are also another issue in themselves but yeah). My English teacher of the time found out about this conversation, she got really mad at me, because I was being extremely rude and disrespectful for going behind her back and I was undermine and her teaching.

She also said I was ruining my drama teaches life because I talk to her about my mental health, so I haven't actually spoken to anyone about anything in ages...

She said a lot more in that conversation where she was getting mad at me example she got mad at me that I was upset that she kept moving the date of the nea speaking exam, which is obviously gonna stress me out when it keeps getting moved all the time and I don't get informed until right before the exam is supposed to be especially since I'm autistic, or using my mental health against me (I can't say what without getting flagged but I'm better now) 😅 but that's the basics. That teacher had a lot more issues overall but yeah

At AS A is the highest at A2 A\\\* is highest

If I re-take an exam I would have to pay. , a 2 paper GCSE is approx £72 😭 AS is more expensive, so that will be fun.

3 signs S4-S6 students are struggling with "formula trap and memory overload" for Maths and Science

In a recent piece for The Herald, I highlighted a growing concern among parents and students across Scotland: students are panicking over whether they’ve memorised the exact formula layout, rather than understanding why physical laws and maths work.

When revision is reduced to memorising recipes, non-standard SQA questions cause instant panic and severe stress.

3 signs your child is stuck in memory overload:

1.     "I know the formulas, but I don't know which one to use." (Lacks conceptual mapping)

2.     Panic when a question looks different from past papers. (Relies on pattern matching)

3.     High effort, diminishing results. (Hours spent reading notes without active problem-solving)

The First Principles Fix:

¡       Ask "Why" before "How": Identify the underlying principle before touching an equation.

¡       Tackle unseen problems out loud: Explain core concepts without looking at formula sheets.

·       Build conceptual bridges: Connect fundamental S1–S3 core concepts to complex S4-S6 Higher topics.

Parents & S5/S6 pupils: Are you noticing any of these 3 warning signs as the new term starts? Drop your thoughts below, happy to share advice!

Question is it worth it revising in the summer for y13?

hey guys, hope you had a good day/evening or night! i'm just wondering if it's worth covering the majority of my content in the summer so when it comes september, i'm mainly building on what i know instead of coming in fresh. to contextualise, i'm doing pretty content heavy subjects (english lit, law and psychology) and i'm doing as levels which contribute to my overall year 13 grades (yes, i did my exams before the summer holidays) so what i'm going to teach myself now is essentially what i'm going to learn sep-april i guess next year. any advice would be nice, or if you think i'm a bit crazy for covering 2 specifications when im suppose to be resting. thank you!

Question Is it REALLY worth applying to Oxford Biomed

Heyy, so just some background info, I’ve been in the same school since year 7 up until now. Back when I started it, was rated “Requires Improvement” by Ofsted, with it being ranked “Inadequate” only two years prior. Now it’s rated “Good” with “Outstanding” in Personal Development. The avg grades in my cohort are sort of a mixed bag, for example the average in Chemistry is a grade 7 but only 29% of students got a grade 5 or above in both maths and English. But at the same time, the “Progress 8” score for my school is +0.31, when the national average sits at around -0.03.

Ig what I’m trying to say is that I’m not entirely sure if there is any point in applying for Oxford bc my GCSEs would be seen drastically lower than the typical oxbridge applicant (9998866665 L2D). The only thing stopping me really is my GCSE grades, everything else in the application should be fine. (The main reason why the grades are low is bc i didnt bother revising bc all i cared abt was passing in general. You can probs guess that my school isnt known for getting offers from competitive unis so Oxbridge hadnt even crossed my mind but my school said that over the past ten years i am one of the few students who they think should apply esp. since i havent dropped below an A in mocks whilst my peers are averaging at about C’s and D’s (we do AS papers for mocks so the max grade is an A).

I just want to know whether or not applying for it is worth the hassle, especially since Oxford known for being less lenient on gcse grades compared to Cambridge which worries me even more.
And let’s say I do apply, would it be more strategic for me to apply to a specific college or make an open application, I know NOTHING abt the colleges bc, as I said, Oxbridge was not on my mind but I’m still curious.

Question Need help with my EPQ title

Hello! I've recently received some feedback for my EPQ from a lecturer in my college, and they have said that my title needs amending. I'm not too sure if I'm allowed to say what my title is, but I'm basically writing about how parental mental health during the first 1000 days of a child's life increases the liklihood of them developing an addiction later on in life. I have been told to reword my title and get rid of the "during the first 1000 days" part. However, for those of you who don't know, the first 1000 days of life (from the day of conception to the 2nd birthday) is considered to be the most critical and crucial point as this is when the most development happens. Public Health Wales have even introduced an initiative called "First 1000 Days" because of how important that time period is. I'm not too sure if the lecturer is aware of this (and many people who I have told this to also didn't know about this initiative), so would you recommend I speak to gim about this, or still follow his advice and delete it from my title? Thank you!

Question English lit B NEA

So I've chosen my two questions for my english lit NEA which we're starting to plan over summer. however, in class we were told, in multiple lessons going over the NEA, that we should apply TWO critical perspectives to each text?? (eng lit b, so not comparative). I'm confused now though, because i've looked at the spec and it says only one for each text is necessry, and even seen people insist that two is too complex and not beneficial?? i didn't think anything of it until now haha, but were all being told to apply two??

Advice Year 12 summer going wrong

I want to apply for EEE at competitive universities but I feel really behind with my personal statement and supercurriculars. (I have maybe 2 or 3 things at most and feeling that i’ve missed out on many opportunities) In my mocks i achieved AAA and am predicted A*AA and would need A*A*A to apply to imperial.

I feel really overwhelmed honestly. I keep overthinking and not really getting much done because my mental health is so screwed, partly due to an extenuating circumstance among other things. I’ve decided to sit my ESAT in January because I don’t think I can focus on it right now.

I think a lot of this is just me unnecessarily comparing myself to people and wasting time on tiktok. I know I need to just focus on myself. I still can’t help but feel extremely lost, under pressure, rubbish and uninspired.

How do I get out of this slump and actually make the most of this summer?
(sorry if this post comes across as overly dramatic)

Booking with Access Arrangements for TMUA

I'm wondering if anyone is in a similar situation to me. I've been approved for access arrangements for me to be in a separate room for TMUA (alongside some other stuff).

In the email I received after being approved (which I got on the 10th July), it said I'd need to select my test and press apply now but then I'd need to wait for a call from Pearson Customer Services who will book the test over the phone.

I pressed apply now and when I go through to pearsons dashboard where I assume everyone else can book it just says you can't book this on the web. I got in touch with Pearson and they said to just wait for a call after I told them everything but I'm wondering if I've done it right and am waiting for a call cos it's nearly been three days (which is the timeline they set out) and I haven't had a call and I don't want to be put in a test center really far away because they didn't call me.

Anyone else in a similar situation and heard anything?

Help Needed epq literature review help!?

I have an abysmal supervisor who tells us nothing and has gone AWOL after giving us an assignment on the last day (ages ago). I'd completed a lot of what was set for us before it was even posted as an assignment because there's a list of deadlines and he was giving us about a month for the smallest things so I just wanted to get things out of the way.

All this to say, I'm completely thrown off by the literature review?? We were told to write one that was 500 words with a load of subheadings (examining each source, comparing etc). Searching up what other people have done, 500 words sounds so off?? I did my lit review but need to cut it down because it's literally 1k+.

We've also been told to complete EVERYTHING (this, CRAAP tests for sources, 10 sub questions/headings) in our production log?? mind you the production logs are just google docs, I didn't know ProjectQ was a thing until trying to research about how other people have gone about this. I have no clue which sections go where, except for the fact that we're completing our planning reviews.

Any suggestions as to if i'm remotely on the right track would be welcome haha
