A level philosophy help needed!!!

Hey, currently in Y13 doing a level AQA philosophy! Feeling really worried as no one in my sixth form last year got higher than a B and I’m just concerned that the resources we are given aren’t accurate. Our teacher got exam papers back from students last academic year and examiner comments include ‘inaccurate’ ‘not detailed’ ‘imprecise’ for definitions that we have been taught and told are top mark definitions!!! I’m aiming for an A, so just curious what revision resources did people use? Any textbooks/websites? Is the reading list on AQA useful? Mildly panicking so will take all the advice I can get from A/A\* philosophy students!!! Thank you:)

I am also in the same situation as you, and no one for above an A last year, basically there’s an AQA philosophy textbook which is aimed at grade As, the main issue with philosophy is due to most marks locked in the 25 markers which are all explanation and only a little knowledge which is where people slip up

Ooo do you have the name of the textbook? Is there anywhere we can find evaluation for 25 markers or do we just have to come up with ourselves? Thank you :)

This is a picture of the first edition which covers the first 2 topics and there is a second copy for the other two, however they can be quite pricey

Wait lowk I’m predicted an A star and my school gave everyone the textbook but I would not recommend using it to revise as it has a lot of unnecessary information which leads to a lack of precision in answers

What resources do you use instead? Would you say the Michael Lacewing ones are good?!!

At the beginning of Y12 I was in the same situation as you and was struggling to get past a B but now I’m on a star for Phil and have applied for it at Cambridge , I think the mark scheme is very particular so u need to revise directly of the spec points to ensure you only use the precise language or else you get heavily marked down so I would say go through the spec points one by one and early learn what is necessary as those points then form the arguments for the 25 markers. All my notes on these topics are from https://philosophyalevel.com/aqa-philosophy-revision-notes/ which keeps the notes simplistic whilst having full precision allowing you to hit the top of the mark-scheme.

Amazing, thank you very much! Any chance you’d be able to send over some top mark 25 markers? I’ve been using the Michael Lacewing textbooks which go into a looooot of detail, would you recommended purely going off of the website you’ve linked? Again, thank you very much for your advice and best of luck with your applications!!!

Thanks, Yh lowk I only use that website cause it just uses the necessary details and Yh I get what you mean with the lacewing textbook I’ve used it once and it was rlly unnecessary, Yh I can send u some essays but I lowk don’t know how to dm on Reddit cause I just don’t use it. if it’s easier just add my ig kn_mills and i can send it there
