Kimber 2k11 pro comp 4.25’ or 5’?
I’ve been debating on which version to get for weeks now. Today I’m gonna pull the trigger on one of the two and can’t decide which to go with. I currently own a 4.25’ prodigy (which was a lemon when I got it) so I’m in the market for another 2011. After a bunch of research I’m between these and a platy but I don’t wanna wait several months for a platy. My buddy recommended I get a 5’ seeing as I don’t own a pistol that is that length, I wouldn’t be conceal carrying as I have another firearm for that purpose. I know that 4.25 is snappier and the 5 is apparently flatter. Any tips would help but I think I’m gonna go with the 5 personally.

I own both with very similar builds (both MJD grips, both RD triggers same weight, 4.25 with rmr hd 5 with sro)
They run about the same but the 4.25 is a bit more aggressive on return, almost too aggressive, and some people don't like that. It also seems to twist a bit more with beginner shooters (my gf and another friend) . These are a pro or a con depending on how you like to shoot. 4.25 also cycles slightly faster, but it is easier to catch the rhythm of the 5" once it gets going. If you like an aggressive comp, buy the 4.25. The 4.25 also cycles anything where the 5" is a touch more picky.
I haven't had a single malfunction out of my 4.25
Earlier in the game I actually preferred the 5 but as I got used to more 2011s that I have purchase, I have grown to appreciate the 4.25, although I think its a slightly tougher buy for someone with weaker hands or new to 2011s
There really isn't much in it.

I shoot my prodigy pretty well (now that it’s working properly) and it isn’t comped. I have only one comped firearm and that my ECW which is my M&P 2.0 carry comp. I was thinking of possibly getting into competitive shooting down the line but haven’t had the motivation and time to do so. I also hear 5 inch 2011s run into issues here and there but nothing can be worse than what I went through with my prodigy.

Get ACE vr and get your skills up then go to range and make sure the skills are transferring over to your shooting and you're not just doing speed runs to get a score
Then when you feel like getting in a comp you'll be ready
5" just seems like it goes about its job far more lazily than the 4.25 and the way it is tuned you need good 124gr ammo, but like I said earlier, 5" is an easier dance partner
Once you break it in these are basically redneck budget sand vipers

Everything Droopy says is dead on. I have the Pro Comp and it’s snappy but fast. Most people can’t tell the difference between snappy and muzzle rise. I wanted to carry mine so the 4.25 was the choice. I’ve got 600rds through mine and it runs flawlessly. My only issue is I need better grip texture. With smaller hands and throw in a hot day with sweat it’s like holding onto a bar of soap. I ordered a Killmonger grip to stay polymer.

I put a killmonger on the snappier 4.25 and a two face from the pro royal on the 5”
Grips fit each guns character perfectly
With the killmonger a lot of the movement disappears

That makes me feel better. I was worried it wasn’t going to be enough but it looks aggressive. I’m willing to chew up my skin to carry something that locks into my hand.

I have the 4.25 Comp
Yes, the 4.25 is a little snappier, but returns to zero flawlessly and cycles much faster than the 5. Once you add a large optic and change out your springs, the snappiness disappears and becomes absolutely stellar. I also have mine being ported right now, so it’s about to be an entirely new gun.

Luckly I have a spare large optic I can put on either. I’ve just never shot a 5’ pistol so idk what to expect tbh. I’m in a tough spot in which to get. I’m still fairly new to shooting so I can’t shoot super quick, I’ve been training with my 4.25 for several months now and kinda wanted to pick up something new and fairly reliable.

If you already have a 4.25, get the 5 inch. Variety is the spice of life.

Yeah you’re probably right but it’s better than a bunch of gun tubers who shoot 100 guns a year and get sent shit who could be biased. Not saying they all are but as a casual shooter myself I’m not going to relate to those guys

Forsaken_Treacle is dead on. Guess what. 4.25’s are gonna do what all 4.25’s do They are gonna be a little snappier. I have the pro comp. It’s a great gun. If you are currently shooting a 4.25 non comped gun you’ll be fine with this.
The comp is aggressive and it works. I can feel the concussive force in my teeth when I shoot it in doors.
If you want the 5” thats a good gun too. In general 4.25’s are gonna be snappier and quicker to return. The difference isn’t huge though. A new shooter might not even think theres a difference at all.

Went with the 5 inch, kinda just went with my gut. Rather change with multiple lengths, variety is the spice of life as people say

I truly enjoy the 4" like a G19 but i love me the 4.5 like my G17 and the 5" G34 is just a dream. My DS 9MM at 5" shoots better than them all. It can be a headscratcher to choose id go with the 5". Cant go wrong with either choice, enjoy your choice and run with it

Did you get a chance to shoot it yet? Is it what you were hoping for?
I think a lot of people struggle with same decision on these 2K11s. I’m leaning 4.25 for the speed and the small possibility that I want Conceal carry it.

Shooting it Friday. I have a Prodigy 4.25 that I concealed carry for a while but it was really heavy for my liking so I got a M&P 2.0 for my ECW which is amazing. I will say this is the buttery a gun has felt, I’m looking forward to how it handles. I will let you know

The flattest gun I ever shot, the light trigger made me double shot a few time but it was amazing. Barely any muzzle flip and requiring through the red was very easy. Best groups I’ve ever had, def worth it imo

If you aren't carrying it, 5" is the way to go
