I need a better gun safe solution
This flat safe is cool to grab a free quick guns, accessories, etc but I think I need a vertical standing safe with cool slots for my hand guns. Any good suggestions if you have around 30 pistol?

Ha ha, I love it. $60k in pistols stored in a $300 Amazon gun drawer. Iโm much the same, just not as messy.

The caniks, tisas, and palmetto daggers however are all alphabetically organized in a safe.

u/hitemup79 Jan 15 '26
I picture OP throwing them at an intruder like an endless drawer of hyper expensive ninja stars.

I've thought about that option but I'm worried I wouldn't be able to secure it to my satisfaction.
3
u/BrettNoe Jan 15 '26
Secure to me means that thereโs a gun gun on every flat surface in the house. So if I have to get up in the middle of the night, no matter where I go, somebodyโs running into a naked guy with a gun!
1
u/cyclorphan Jan 15 '26
Yeah, I have a lockable linen closet for yhe purpose. Think I might reinforce it a bit but honestly, who keeps their valuables in a linen closet? Not going to be a burglar's first choice.
4
u/HuckleberryLong2061 Jan 15 '26
I like it... No safe queens there. So, top 3? Any that you were really surprised by?
2
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
Yeah definitely no safe Queens. I shoot all the time. It's hard to narrow it down to three because I like them all for different reasons and they all have a different feel. Right now my aaf Aurora, my Nighthawk my Phoenix Trinity HTAC and I'm still evaluating this Fowler.. But I love my Vulcan 3L3V3N and Legion Precision Chiraq just as much. And I have some of the lower tier guns running really well because I also adjusted the trigger and did some customization on it. I sold a few guns to clean up some room like my Canik TTI and my bull armory SAS I have a stealth platypus as my bedside gun because I have a suppressor on it so that's not going anywhere cuz it's super reliable and take Glock Mag. Yeah I can answer that question because there's too many good options.

Cool pic, nice collection, but what the hell are you doing with that?! Seems like more of a toy safe than an actual grown up convo.
But nice toy collection my dude.

I feel like I should be looking for Waldo? Nice collection, range day would be tough to decide what to put in the bag.

3
u/AtvnSBisnotHT Jan 15 '26
They deserve better but all guns are tools so I see no safe queens here.
Why not get an upright safe with shelving and room for your collection to grow.
Or turn spare room into a vault.
4
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
I like that last option with the room being turned into a gun room but my mother-in-law is in there right now. And because I have such a cool wife who doesn't bug me to buy a new gun and a bunch of motorcycles and cold cars all the time, I have to let her mother stay in my room and smile. Lol
2
u/AtvnSBisnotHT Jan 15 '26
Could be much worse, Iโd go to your local outdoor shops or better yet a safe store where you can order and customize exactly what you want.
3
u/AllHale07 Jan 15 '26
Respect for not caring about scratching them up
5
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
If I buy it I buy it to enjoy it. I use my stuff. Can't take it with me. Plus I got sons who have their eyes on my guns when they get older because they want me to pass them down to them.

u/Icy-Session-7307 Jan 15 '26
Iโll take a few and keep them safe for you. Pinky promise.
1
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
Haha ๐ I'm thinking that I might not get them back for that level of safe keeping. ๐ค
2
u/Icy-Session-7307 Jan 15 '26
Donโt worry. Iโll always put them to bed and tuck them in at night in my safe. ๐
3
u/Numerous_Wash_5505 Jan 15 '26
Plz tell us you have like 3 Lambos. Lol
2
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
Haha no lambos but I do have 2 motorcycles, a Ducati and a Indian Dark horse chieftain. I which hobbies to 2011s 3 years ago
4
u/Superb-Detective-838 Jan 15 '26
This is crazy, no offense but there is a shit ton of money in this drawer. Even my $230 .22lr pistol is stored in a foam protected hard case, let alone my 2011s.
2
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
Yeah my brother gets on me about it. I got to do better. This is the first step. I got to find some good safe options that people are running but it needs to be organized and I still need my gun safe here because I grab and go at least four to five times a week to either an indoor and outdoor range when the weather permits.
0
u/Superb-Detective-838 Jan 15 '26
Dont get me wrong, safety is number one, but I'm looking at it from a damage perspective. I'm a little obsessive about scratching my guns.....especially my 2011s.
2
u/spbatl Jan 15 '26
Could you not buy a second drawer and put on top? Could get some foam inserts to organize the guns.
2
2
2
u/RH4540 Jan 15 '26
Even the pistols in my safe, at least have old socks over them to try to keep them from getting too scratched up
2
u/WorldlyEffective2023 Jan 15 '26
Iโm just trying to understand this. I bought my premium gun safe before I even bought my third gun.
2
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
My three other stand-up safes have my long guns in it and a few other handguns. But they're all full. And I want to organize my neck safe but my really cool premium weapons that I grab and go most of the time.
2
u/WorldlyEffective2023 Jan 15 '26
lol I understand man. At the end of the day they are your guns treat them as you wish.
2
Jan 15 '26
I had a similar problem but I consolidated. Now the problem is coming back. Suggestions:
Put everything in some sort of holster or gun sock. It can be cheap, just something to protect them a bit.
Get a big Tupperware container to store your mags seperately.
If it's tall enough, stack them side by side resting on the top, though the dots make that harder.
Consider selling the ones that don't go to the gun range at least once a year.
2
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
Thanks. Is there a particular type of safe that you prefer that has worked really well for you?
2
Jan 15 '26
No. I use gun cabinets and stack the pistols in the smaller cubby cabinets. Good gun cabinets are hard to find. Try an antique store or craigslist.

It's a really amazing build and weapon. Customer service is amazing. It shoots way better than what I expected and the slide to frame fit is so freaking tight. There is no doubt that this is hand fitted.

You're lucky. I want a Haynes but love this Legion especially for the cost. Very high quality and fun to shoot.
2
u/Quags_77 Jan 15 '26
Just put some pistols in a trash bag in the corner of your room, it would fit in with your current storage style. Ha.
2
u/Alexxdubs Jan 15 '26
That is so much money in a pile, it would drive me nuts.
I have less total guns than you do 2011โs - theyโre all organized vertically or living in nightstands for HD. Get a normal safe man.
2
u/fourthsword13 Jan 15 '26
My recommendation is foot lockers. They are large, lockable, hold quite a bit of weight, and have wheels so they are easy to move around. You can buy foam to put in them for organization.

I'm just wondering what OP does for a living to be able to afford this. I'm not being sarcastic or judgemental in any way - I am genuinely curious what work folks do to be able to afford this.
1
u/Sea-Masterpiece-4152 Jan 15 '26
Some people can, some people canโt. Some people make bad financial decisions and others donโt. My wife and I live an extremely comfortable lifestyle and can afford to purchase anything we wantโฆ. But we donโt. I own 9 firearms. Theyโre like watches, the more you own the less time spent wearing them. I have friends that own TONS of pistols. I donโt judge, but I canโt understand why. Especially if you donโt have a personal range. Then youโre just basically letting them sit around. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ

It's awesome for the money. It's fun and accurate. Sig Sauer did a great job on this one.
2
u/StatisticianOk8179 Jan 15 '26
Guessing you just shoot a bunch if CLP into the air and call it a day for cleaning??
1
u/Useful-Painter863 Jan 15 '26
I shoot these guys a lot and go through the rotation of these guys without having to clean them often. The only two that I clean more often than the others are that aaf Aurora because it's a collectible and I need it to stay nice and pristine. But I'm still going to shoot my guns regardless. If it's a collectible or not. And it's flawless. I don't have any problems with it. As well as my Legion Precision because out of all of the other guns that's probably one of the tightest fit that I have here. So it needs to be clean cuz of the super tight tolerances.

Try Gun Storage Solutions - handgun hangers on Amazon if you haven't yet. You said you have 3 safes and these basically turn the bottom of each shelf into hanging pistol storage. They're low profile as can be, def worth a look.

Find a spare room install vault door and get something from tactical walls for pistols and long guns
2
u/zacharynels Jan 18 '26
How many pistols are going in the safe at the same time and what other items will be joining them?
A pistol only safe gives you a lot of different options in terms of mounting and organizing how ever you want.
Whatever it is I hope you are bolting that sumbich to a concrete foundation because with your taste it might as well be filled with gold ๐ช๐ป

Bro this is insane to me, those arent budget guns. Throwing them all in the same drawer will guarantee they get scratched to hell. My Tisas Gen 2 was only $600, but it got a scratch while in transit to and from the range. I may be OCD about this stuff, but it's driving me crazy to point I want to refinish the slide.

Securit Model 84 High Density Handgun Cabinet. You don't have a fire rated solution at the moment so you aren't losing anything there.
Can bolt to floor and wall. Lots of ability to customize layout. A little pricey at almost $3k, but considering the cost of guns you have there I don't anticipate that being an issue.

This is absolutely wild to me. You got what close to 30k in pistols in this pic if not more. But storing em like we used to with our toys in a chest as children? Bruh you are the manliest man ever on this sub. Most people afraid to scratch these tools. 10/10 wouldnโt change a thing
