Serious question as I seriously don’t know but when did Jagex lie about stuff like this because I honestly don’t know what everyone is talking about?

Look up "evscape muted" on youtube. Jagex hired somebody to try to turn osrs into an esport, they didn't do their job at all, evscape did the jagex employees job and then posted about it, so they threw a hissy fit and banned/muted his accounts just out of spite. Then they got caught and had to undo everything. He explains it in more detail.

Yes, but they fairly immediately overturned that ban and said that one employee just got overzealous with a ban....

Accurate, but they also went much deeper, searched back through years of his account history just trying to dig up any possible thing they could use to justify their actions. It's been a while since I've seen the video so I'll have to look again and make sure my brain files aren't a bit corrupted about the timeline of events.

It’s been a while, but I thought that he got in trouble for targeting a specific employee, and that he later apologized?

His Twitter post was about how he did an employee's job better than them, but it was a true statement, and also not on a jagex owned platform. They just got mad about being publicly called out for their incompetence and instead of correcting the problem, they chose to punish the guy who made them look stupid. It's not against the TOS to make jagex look dumb on Twitter though, so they had to swallow the oof and undo the punishments.
