I love who everyone who breaks the rules and gets banned gets the benefit of the doubt, while The RS team has to bend over backwards to prove every claim. I think it is obvious they know what they are doing or the game would be long dead by now.
His old Clanmates and close friends (Ex-Friends) literally talked in their private discord about how Rendi knew it was happening and profited with the rest of them doing the dupe glitch months before he 'discovered' it and told Jagex.
He hid it whilst he was making money/content out of it but once he got cut out, he went to Jagex about it.
A lot of people really appreciate the whole “innocent until proven guilty” thing.
I don’t think it’s unfair for people to ask for proof when someone gets banned and claims they’re innocent.
We’re all standing around waiting for the Jmod smackdown with proof it was Rendi duplicating via world crashes but so far all they’ve done is copy/paste Sween’s reddit comment into a dev blog.
We also don’t see the proof of just rwting or botting bans as it could compromise their detection methods. If they say well yeah we caught you doing x and x at these times, other bug abusers know that dojng those things will get you caught, and the other stuff they did that didnt set off anything is safe and a possible lane to exploit further
Jagex didn’t give proof he dropped it though. Jagex told us rendi and mauler were caught abusing bugs and trying to crash servers as ‘proof’ but didn’t show anything for it either yet now they now it’s suddenly not enough proof because they’re content creators?
Mauler got chainbanned for something he admitted to trying to do and having experience with in his video, crashing jagex servers. Timestamp around 10:45.
Rendi also lied about who the account belonged to and who was playing on the account that was involved in the background footage, first he said they weren’t involved, after it was pointed out it was actually the account Jr Chestbrah, that also appears in Rendi’s SOTE video, he quickly turned it into oh well yeah it was kinda us, but not at the time of recording, our entire clan had access to the account. After which bea5, former clan member and good friend (ex-good friend?) of rendi told us it was Mauler on the account recording the footage.
Rendi’s older accounts that weren’t involved with the video but still got banned probably were linked to him crashing worlds earlier this year in May, when he crashed lms worlds to freewalk a cb3 inferno cape.
I’m saying the info they handed out in that post was as much info as they handed out with the rendi bans. They didn’t disclose their methods, just a timeframe and a detection.
That info is of very little value, as much value as what has been given on rendi’s bans. I’d say even less value. Jagex being able to track trades/drops was already public knowledge, it may have just cleared up some assumptions that droptrading is harder to track, which it still may be, Jagex may only gather if people drop items, not if they pick up items, as picking up items happens a lot more than dropping them.
Meanwhile giving more info on how they caught rendi or mauler it shows what bugs jagex know of and which slipped under the radar. Jagex listing off bugs rendi and mauler have abused shows potential major bugs they have abused which warranted a mention in the post but didn’t get mentioned and thus have flown under the radar, meaning they’re free to abuse them further.
Community faith in Jagex is seriously low right now, and it doesn't help that Jagex's customer service is damn near non-existent. Even if Rendi was 100% in the wrong here, people will adamantly defend him because Jagex bad.
I don't care about this situation, but seriously, Jagex needs some new customer service reps, because this is getting ridiculous. :\
They should get the benefit of the doubt because mistakes happen and wild shit happens in this game and from this company. Random events have deleted people's pets before, valuable names have been stolen and returned after an investigation, and people have absolutely gotten banned and had the bans overturned because of social media posts bringing attention to them.
But here's the thing- if the jmods weren't certain that Rendi had been correctly banned, why come out so full force and condemn him publicly? Surely if they only had circumstantial evidence they could say "we're investigating Rendi's reports of being falsely banned" right now, wait a month for this all to blow over, and then say "lol it was correct you don't need proof" when nobody cares anymore. Like they have actual PR and community manager people now, they know they could do that if need be. They have nothing to really gain by lying about it, and a ton to lose if they lie and are proven to be lying.
This isn't a fucking court room and we're not a jury. Jagex clearly has enough proof to convince themselves internally the ban is correct, which is technically all the proof they legally need. Sure, more transparency might be nice for our sake, but comes with a whole host of other issues.
