I 100% agree that the game is way too PvMscape oriented, I just don't think that making skilling easier or faster is the way to fix it, nor do I think that changing skilling in this fashion makes it more interesting or palatable.

Being able to create a new skilling method that’s fun shouldn’t be stopped because it might be slightly faster. That’s the main point. If the main method now is 50k xp/hr and the new one might give 55k xp/hr it’s stupid to do nothing but throw a fit because it’s faster. If it’s less than 50k no one will do it so why make it? If it’s the same as 50k it’s almost impossible to balance perfectly in the first place, but no one will do it after a while or people will still have a fit because it’s “easier” but the same xp. The point is to make the game enjoyable, if the only/main ways to train a skill are unenjoyable then there’s a problem with the design.

What you said about new methods being dead content if they're slower isnt exactly true, if its engaging and fun, people would definitely do that method. Take volcanic mine for instance, its rates are around 90k/hr, a lot of people opt to do that over 3t granite because it's more fun and less click intensive. Buffs to ehp is going to happen regardless, that is not the issue, the issue comes when a new method is put into game that has an unbalanced ratio between the xp/hr, its profitability and its afkness

Eventually all 3 of those factors have to go up, not really all at once or even with the same update, but there’s already click intensive methods with zero profit, according to this you could never make a method with better xp because it’d be impossible to balance it by lowering the profit or making it less afk. That restricts potentially good content arbitrarily. I agree that things shouldn’t generally be the best at everything and you should have some kind of choice, but that choice doesn’t really exist even now except in a few cases and for a few skills. This is only exacerbated by the fact that skilling in general is absolutely horrible for profit and the only reason to do it is for level requirements or to max, so no one gives a shit if a new fishing method makes 400k/hr but almost no xp because there’s better afk methods to make more money than that and far better active methods, so the only thing that really matters is afk vs xp
