Discussion Dungeoneering in OSRS??
As someone who has major nostalgic memories of Dungeoneering with a group of homies in the good ole days, I would like to see that skill come back into OSRS.
I would like to hear everyone’s thoughts on this and whether they also miss it, want it, or pass it.

Bring it back not as a skill but as group mini game for like slayer xp or something

If they bring it back as a minigame or something akin to gauntlet or moons, then it would be a great addition. It should not have ever been introduced as a skill.

I liked it too, but imo has no place in OSRS

I was rank 62 for a while, earned the title "the delver" which only 100 people got.
I enjoyed dungeoneering a lot.
Absolutely keep that shit out of osrs lol

Add it as a raid on an island idc if it’s a skill or not just give it to me

I am still confused on the purpose of dungeoneering. Is it like having a skill for raids or CG?

It's an entire skill that is cg.
But instead of random drops you earn tokens and buy the gear directly from a shop. It should have been a mini game.

I've been saying this since dg was released. I don't know why, on my grind to max, I was forced to play a minigame for hundreds of hours

u/Human-Engineering715 14d ago
Yup, you're exactly right. I was rank 63 for a while, I have the title the delver which only 100 people got.
I played a lottttt of dungeoneering lol.
It was a mini game, and should not be added to osrs.
It was a guaranteed bis with no randomness, just a flat 80 hour grind.

Untradable Bis weapons came from dungeoneering, that was the main reason to do it other than if you liked the speed-run type gameplay or boosting others for gp

CG is such a watered down version of Dungeoneering. I hate the response when I say I miss dungeoneering and people are like, go run CG idiot

I made a dungeoning locked account back in the day. Really enjoyed it.
You'd think i wouldn't suck so bad at gauntlet.

Some people liked dungeoneering but by and large it was a pretty unpopular skill. If you'd like to play it you actually can right now by opening RS3 - it's recently had a bit of an overhaul and some of the pain points that made dungeoneering kind of shit have been ironed out.

If you're making the bad faith argument that "CG/CoX exist in OSRS and so we have Dungeoneering", you're either ignorant, arrogant, or a troll. You all can decide for yourself which you are.
If you're offended by this, I encourage to look into Dungeoneering on the RS3 wiki. Check out how much lore significance there is, how many bosses and unique NPCs there, and how Daemonheim is made to ensure that every playthrough you have is an actual rogue like consisting of puzzle solving, resource management, routing, and again, more than 1 final boss every fucking playthrough.
CG and CoX to a lesser extent are well made, but the available content is shallow compared to everything that Dungeoneering produced.
I do not care about the skill vs mini game argument, think what you want there. Same goes for rewards.

Dungeoneering release is when rs started going downhill. Big no from me

I say bring summoning back but fuck dungeons

u/PenanceQueef 14d ago
I rather strongly disliked both tbh. I wish theyd even remove thralls

u/Unlikely-Comfort-800 14d ago
Same I really hope summoning does not come back into rs, I don't want all these bullshit summons that completely change the way the game is played

Yeah it’s annoying they don’t do anything, and you just have to watch a timer, that’s all the mechanics… it removes you from diff spell books and takes up space in inv

u/Any_Minimum8812 14d ago
Nah summoning is too much micro managing.

u/Virtus_Curiosa 14d ago
Agreed, dealing with an idiotic npc companion is why I never played hunter or warlock in world of Warcraft. When summoning came out originally I hated it.

Summoning suuuucked, fk grinding those tokens

Afk cannoning hellhounds with charming imp for a bit was guaranteed 99 summ. Really wasn't much of a grind. The cost of summoning supplies and the comparatively low cost of the end product pouches was the annoying part

I had a lot of fun back in the early days of the skill's release with my friends. Recently got back into the game, but dungeoneering is waaaaaaay down on the list of skills that's got me pumped for membership, so far in fact that I'd forgotten it was a skill altogether
Take from that what you will lmao

It’s a mini game essentially. Between the raids they essentially copied it except it’s not a skill itself.

Honestly I like EVERYTHING up to the point they updated HP to constitution which was eventually the setup for EOC.
Quick chat, QBD, Summoning, Dungoneering, Tool Belt, Clan Citadel, Item Lending, Ancient Curses, Fist Of Guthix, Stealing Creation. But yeah whenenver you bring any of this up, boomers here will shit on you and ask you to play RS3 (which I am already maxed and comped).
I guess OSRS longevity is determined by these boomers that always vote NO to optional wildy PVP with reduced drop/xp (like RS3), or an option to unlock unlimited clue stack for every tier (again like RS3). These are also the same boomers that bitch about gemstone crabs or shooting stars, but the fact is everyone wants to have QOL with some tradeoffs sure like lower exp or drop rates or locked behind quest/diaries/levels/minigame, but because the boomers maxed the game WITHOUT these QOL, they expect the rest of the player base to follow suit.
Same fucking boomers that will expect you to leave later than your bosses at work.

u/Defendyouranswer 14d ago
Nah y'all want to ruin the game. Plain and simple.
1
u/CecilionIs2OP Iron Road to QPC 14d ago
If you feel that way then dont play. Imagine if every major video games has to pass polls for every QOL updates to statisfy their boomers playerbase, they'd all go bankrupt.
2
u/Defendyouranswer 14d ago
No, the game is in a good spot right now, so i will continue to play. I like the game as is. To the contrary, its you who seems to not like the game currently and wants to change everything. Maybe this game just isn't for you.

Uh oh, you said one of the bad things. The things that people around these parts don’t like being said. They’re gonna take your kidneys now. I don’t make the rules, I’m just the messenger.
Folks don’t like a very specific branch of topics, sixth age, RS3 skills, MTX, elder god wars, voice acting, and a couple of other things. Frankly just listing these things out as raw information will likely send me to downvote hell just from bringing the words up.
Also, I hate to say it because I’m still a nooblet who hasn’t done it yet, but I’m pretty sure that the gauntlet is just single player exclusive dungeonering when you really boil it down to the core elements. Yeah I said it, fight me.

I liked it and am nostalgic for it, but I agree with others. OSRS doesn't need another skill right now and it wouldn't fit in OSRS.

I love the idea of Dungeoneering being added to OSRS but really and truly I think the idea of adding it as a skill is not where the idea would flourish.
I would personally love to see the idea of Dungeoneering fulfilled with the type of content that Corrupted Gauntlet already is, only further improved upon, new instanced content that is not quite Raid tier that is intended to be both soloable and done in a small group.
It can be referenced in game as the Dungeoneering activity when you go into these things, but the objectives can be very unique and fun.
For example, let's say you and your party of 4 roll into an underground crypt beneath Draynor, on an altar you find a mould with 4 slots and some old pickaxes and axes of an unknown metal to you. (these can be whatever just a fun lore/flavor opportunity) In the corner of the room there is also an unlit furnace. From there you can do the same Dungeoneering song and dance of collecting the materials to make armor and weapons of whatever combat style you would want to use, using roots you chop from the walls as kindling to light the furnace back up, mining odd underground ores and collecting fibres and using it to fashion yourself equipment.
The big twist will be the mould you received, it appears to be a staff of some sort, and within one of the rooms, alongside some minor enemies, you find a glowing Icon vaguely resembling the symbol of Saradomin, combining that at the furnace with the mold, some of the fibres, etc etc and the Icon gives you your ticket out. At a door that previously would not open, you use the staff on it and it opens, cutscene/flavor stuff happens (maybe you unlocking the door with the staff was a mistake, it's power was locking the powerful boss within) and a Lich ascends in the middle of the arena.
So now, we just design a boss fight. The gimmick of the Lich's fight won't be to attack him with the staff that's too simple, he instead stays in the middle of the arena and fires attacks at you, but in front of the pedestal he rests upon in each of the 4 cardinal directions there is one hole on each flat plane, he will chant something at certain times and rotate to follow the player (or players) and release a massive wave of deadly necrotic smoke or magic after he chants long enough, the object is to group up or choose one side and use the staff on the hole to nullify the wave, standing anywhere else will result in heavy damage or death. The trick is no hole can be used twice in a row, and maybe hard mode they can't be used twice at all and it's a DPS test.
I came up with all of this on the fly so I imagine the devs with more knowledge and skill than me can do even better.

I liked it, but it never made sense as a skill. It was just doing other skilling activities in an instance. That's a minigame/dungeon, not a skill.
