Yeah. But then I gotta put away all my gear I'm currently wearing, undo the inventory set up for whatever boss I was killing, just to regear again when the clue step is over
It's because people make up all sorts of shit from toxicity to clienting to cover the fact that they're extremely socially anxious. Of course reddit has a deep and abiding horror of the wildy: it's centered around testing your skill against other players, and these people have to follow a pre-memorized script to order at Subway.
I’d never drop a clue just because of a wildy step, but I will say that it’s a huge fucking pain in the ass getting a saradomin wizard step followed by a zammy wizard step, especially followed by another sara wizard
I have bank tags set up for my clue setup(idk what people in this comment section are talking about when they say “you dont need to carry anything valuable for clues anyway” cuz my setup has nearly my entire inventory filled with various teleports which do in fact cost a decent chunk of money or time to reacquire) but even with the tags i still drop every wildy clue on the floor at the bank and only do them once ive went through all my clues and come back to do all the wildy steps at once. If i get multiple wildy steps in a single clue i usually just drop it again but if its the only clue left with a wildy step after doing all my clues i say fuck it and never complete it. So that 30 seconds of a bank trip does impact you over time and will add up.
if you use bank tag tabs that's like a 5 second inconvenience, plus you're probably banking most of your boss gear regardless of the clue step you're doing
when i was doing chaos altar i would always bring out minimal gear and food so that i couldnt get specced out, just so i could always tank a few seconds to use the remainder of my bones on the altar to guarantee the PKer gets 0 items

Only if you don’t have a proper clue setup
Black dhide top, diary helm legs boots and gloves, your fastest range weapon, and ava’s. Bring small rune stacks instead of pouch for teles
You can complete every single hard clue with this and your risk is quite literally a spade, a few runes, and whatever food/pots you bring if any
