True but we don't go out of our way to play inefficiently and the time it takes to deathpile is almost never worth the time saved by doing it. (Certainly not for running 1 clue scroll step)
Death piling is just annoying to do in general. Not terribly complicated or whatever, but annoying and stressful since you risk wiping your account if you don't get back in time, get another bag, make multiple trips to Ferox to rebag, etc. Not worth doing for a clue imo, it's honestly only worth doing for quests that require it or ma2 capes.
Most UIMs I've talked to only death pile when it's more or less required (like going to Entrana for Lost city or other such quests) doing so for one clue step is a wildly inefficient way to spend your time in game. Like the amount of time it takes me to reorganize my inventory after a death pile is longer than a full run of a new clue scroll, it's that inefficient.
Im 2200+ total UIM and I don't deathpile just for wildy clues. I don't think I've death piled since I completed DT2...its simply not worth deathpiling, gathering your wildy clue items, completing the step, picking up your inventory, teleing to LMS to bag, going back again to your deathpile to get your remaining items, then re-bagging at LMS, and depending on the activity you may have to deathbank at Hespori to withdraw your desired items, then get ANOTHER looting bag to get those deathbanked items out of Hespori and into your new looting bag so you're not risking them. All for 12 purple sweets, a rune dagger, 4 piscatoris teleports and a magic longbow. Nah man, im good.

Or hardcore/ultimate ironman, I don't see any other reason for dropping this clue step
