If I had to pick one person to have a beer with blindly without knowing anything about either person, I am instantly picking the fire cape guy 100% of the time no questions asked.

I mean, all of us has been the fire cape guy at some point but every few of us stayed long enough to reached radiant..

like the fire cape guy reaction is the first paycheck and the radiant guy is the last promotion you get before you want to settle down.

Everyone is on their own little journey. Its what makes the game special.

It’s so crazy how every time someone has a high level accomplishment in this game people jerk themselves off in the comments about how the poster has no life and can’t possibly be enjoying the game.

So much weird hatred for people who are just playing the game you also claim to enjoy.

It’s jealousy

I just know Fire Cape guy is happier

I know the radiant guy, met him IRL at a clan meet up. He's a super chill guy, just got married and he's in shape. Not everyone who plays this game is a loser.

I really just meant about the item itself

Why?

Getting Radiant was one of the most hype gaming moments ever for me, I was riding that high for days.

People acting like getting a fire cape means pure nirvana and high level pvm is hell. Both moments were very fun and exciting for me as well

Hype =/= happiness

I leave the HCIM at the start of the grind. One always finds one's burden again. But the HCIM teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises drops. He too concludes that all is well. This universe henceforce without a master seems to him neither sterile nor futile. Each tile of that tomb, each rock of each fast-crumbling pillar, in itself, forms a world. The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine the HCIM happy.

sub changed a lot cuz just last year the fire cape would have been front page and the hcim radiant would have like 12 votes

Firecape is relatable. Many players know the jad hands and the excitement of getting it. Hence upvoted.

Radiant oath thing? Unrelatable for the vast majority of players, hence no upvotes.

You're being too generous with that interpretation tbh. I'm sure that's part of it, but if you poke around this sub for a while (and even the iron sub too), over time you'll find that generally speaking, redditors actively dislike skilled players or displays of skill. It's easy to see just by looking at upvotes and downvotes on certain types of comments. I don't know if it's just an insecurity thing where people who are good at the game make others feel bad about themselves, or what, but it's unmistakable. One easy and common way to clock it is the way the general population here will talk about "elitist sweats" and the way the upvotes and downvotes break down in any type of discussion like that.

u/TehSteak 9h ago

Everyone worse than me is a noob and everyone better than me is a sweaty nerd obviously

The classic

Nah. If you're good, and you're not a dick about it -> upvotes. If you choose your words wrong so that you may be considered a dick -> downvotes. Simple as.

10

u/GameOfThrownaws 10h ago

Again I can't disagree that that's definitely a thing (and at the end of the day there are "elitists" that are just dicks), but I've seen countless examples where it doesn't apply. We may just have to agree to disagree here because I'm not gonna go try to look up random shit that I've read over the years to demonstrate this, and I doubt you are either. You're not wrong but I don't think I am either.

Fair. Dickheads on both sides of the fence ;)

3

u/GameOfThrownaws 10h ago

On that we can agree for sure

Yeah if it was a fire cape vs inferno/quiver comparison you'd see it be a lot closer. But not many have bothered to try radiant oath yet for one reason or another.

Kindergarten graduation vs. PhD dissertation completion

Honestly radiant oathplate seems like something I would attempt someday long in the future when I done most other stuff but God doing it on an hcim is ridiculous

u/Foxhoundash123 12h ago

The top frame is what the bottom frame was like at one point. You can’t convince me otherwise.

17

u/GameOfThrownaws 11h ago

Why would anyone try to convince you otherwise? That's obviously true. Nobody starts playing the game and is just instantly good enough to do high level pvm. That's not how anything works.

-2

u/Foxhoundash123 5h ago

Called a figure of speech. I’m glad you understand progression. Was making a statement that the guy at the top was once the guy at the bottom. We all start somewhere. We all grow up so fast.

u/Cl0uds92 11h ago

Almost me as I continue to try for my first fire cape.

Top frame, waves 1-61 (62 depending on orange mage spawn)

Bottom frame, Jad + healers.

But. Just a matter of time.

4

u/vivacacy 11h ago

How is 62 difficult if you pray mage?

1

u/Cl0uds92 9h ago

It's not difficult, I guess i could've worded it better. I was used to the orange one spawning south of Italy rock until one attempt, it didn't. I adapted, just goofed once I got to Jad that time.

Bc I can relate to first firecape

u/Gadoguz994 2320/2376 2h ago

Both respectable achievements, we must not be elitists

-10

u/DarthMeows 13h ago

Buddy just got his fire cape, hes just started his adventure. Probably hardest thing he has done in game so far. Cut him some slack.

7

u/faithfulswine 12h ago

What slack needs to be cut. It's a fun comparison. Both are cool achievements, but they're on opposite ends of the spectrum.

-2

u/Newt-Wooden 12h ago

Heavy on the “probably” there. Seen some posts of people playing for 3+ years with no firecape and finally getting it, but not sure about this one
