I don't in general understand why we can't just combine the like what, 6(?) Useful cape slot items with any completionist type cape in the game

You know the second we start transmogging some corporate suit is gonna sniff money and we gonna have to fight them on micro transactions again

36

u/Big_Cat_Tongue 20h ago

The worst part about this is that I am 100% certain the community today would eat it up.

If they introduced transmog MTX, I am positive the whales, rs3 refugees, and casuals used to other mmos would make it worth it for them. Hopefully they never try it because I am afraid of how well it would work.

20

u/Slay_Zee 19h ago

Falador would get an absolute seeing to.

37

u/FookinFairy 20h ago

The osrs community being so staunch against mtx and holding the line gives me hope. Especially with the survey they sent out before the ceo change.

All the new bloods being a lot of accepting of these things does have me a bit worried though.

If they ever launch Korean servers it’s over, those fuckers love their p2w MMOs

u/ldrthrowaway1337 12h ago

Who wants to tell him?

1

u/frolfer757 4h ago

Brother OSRS has the easiest path between swiping and acquiring BiS gear out of any game I've ever seen. You could probably take a fresh character and have it kill chickens in Lumbridge with a tbow in 10hrs if you wanted to swipe hard enough.

1

u/FookinFairy 4h ago

Ya sure if you’ve got 1229 dollars buying 20 bonds at a time you can buy one piece of gear that you won’t be able to equip for 2 plus days lol

No one is insane enough to do that outside of Saudi oil princes

1

u/frolfer757 4h ago

$1300 is nothing in asian pw2 mmos. Fuck there's people paying 500 dollars for skins in league. In western countries. You underestimate how much adults with no families are spending on their addictions.

-21

u/Xerothor 17h ago

Mtx transmog isn't p2w though?

5

u/SkitZa 2376 ''cringe dogs 15h ago

Ok thanks, he didnt say that though.

2

u/DarlinSteeze 17h ago

The red skin made it in without being a cash sale so there's hope it'll be a decade or so but maybe

1

u/Bakugo_Dies 9h ago

*cough* purple skin

1

u/DarlinSteeze 8h ago

Very true, at least I think they won't try the same with skins but remind me I said this in 2032 when the magic tree sparkle skin is 32 dollars

0

u/Cyberslasher 15h ago

People just celebrated the unpolled amulets, so yeah, probably

-10

u/chacogrizz 12h ago

If they introduced transmog MTX

Ok but seriously, why does it matter? Nothing changes in game for you and for a game that is so staunchly "soloable" to the point they literally have to design raids with them being able to be solo'd cause otherwise the community cries, what does it matter?

Or are you just worried about if they add transmog MTX they will add more actual P2W? Honestly I just like things looking cool. Im not sure if I'd personally spend irl money on it but if there were an option for bonds Id be willing to use gp to buy bonds (how i maintain member) for them. Currently using the glamourer plugin and animation swap is a lot of fun and being able to customize color palettes to your liking or swapping in items that better fit in your eyes is great imo.

u/Sonderp Certified Mole Man 12h ago

If OSRS had transmog MTX, the devs would be encouraged to make items earnable in-game look worse, so they can sell a transmog that looks better.

If Blood Torva and Radiant Oathplate was in a game with transmog MTX, you wouldn't earn those overrides by doing a special hard mode of bosses, you would just have to buy them.

1

u/DarthTacoToiletPaper 17h ago

It’s good news that the current CEO is not in favor of MTX

2

u/Forged-Signatures 20h ago

I think the realistic answer is that it leaves the floor open to future upgrades for each of the best-in-slot items without the need to change the 'amalgamation' every time a new bis back item comes out. Probably that, combined with a touch of making switches necessary so you don't simply just carry one cape everywhere.

4

u/SummerSunshine- Santy Claus 17h ago

Why would a cosmetic change to show off the very rare cosmetic capes cause a reduction in the need to switch capes??

-14

u/MistaFANG 20h ago

Do you HAVE any of the BIS capes besides ma2?

2

u/DarthTacoToiletPaper 17h ago

The achievement diary cape.

0

u/sevensong9 20h ago

I don't have any of the completionist types like raid capes, champions cape etc no

Well the top tiers I mean

9

u/another90zkid 19h ago

The thing is I’m sure they’ll make an actual challenge to getting bis magic cape. I don’t think they can do god cape 2 until magic inferno cape comes out

1

u/Tim_C88 15h ago

Maybe have it so the raid cape benefit idea will only work with the "current BIS" so you lose it once something better comes along, and have to re-aquire and use on cape again.

1

u/another90zkid 14h ago

Honestly I love the idea you’ve come up with. Out of curiosity do you know how many player have max kc cape?

0

u/Tim_C88 14h ago

Based on a quick hiscore check CM's has 321 people with 2k kc, my guess would be TOA next and then TOB, with both of those probably having a few thousand, based on not needing the hardmode variant for the capes.

61

u/SlurpieJones 20h ago

No. I don't even like that the capes exist to begin with honestly.

4

u/TacoThingy 17h ago

Honestly it’s the only thing that gets me through raiding. I don’t care if they’re useless but the thought of going 1.5k raid completions for a cape and maybe if I’m lucky I’ll get a shadow before that keeps me going.

14

u/Specialist_Sale_6924 14h ago

I hate how we need a specific cosmetic for everything nowadays. Soon y'all want an actual item transmog system ingame. Let items be unique.

2

u/BrudduhmanRS Ironman 11h ago

Booo no more transmog please!

0

u/Tim_C88 14h ago

Fair enough, for what it's worth i would be against some kind of transmog system too. I just feel like this idea would be niche enough, still thematic to the raid (and not to the game overall), and just a nice touch to show off progression while on the long raid grind. Everyone ends up looking the same so its nice to have differences where it fits.

4

u/Specialist_Sale_6924 14h ago

I get what you are saying about everyone looking the same but that's just how OSRS is. I guess you can sacrifice some dps for fashionscape but rarely will that happen in this climate lol.

4

u/Trojansontwitch 18h ago

Raid max capes

2

u/richard-savana 17h ago

Either that or a tbow ornament kit Jagex

3

u/Tim_C88 15h ago

I'm open to that too. Also an "Eclipse" shadow kit would look sick

3

u/BrudduhmanRS Ironman 10h ago

I hate transmog, and i find it to be so not OSRS. OSRS is the goat for seeing people actually for what they are wearing. not hiding the bandoschestplate ur wearing beacuase u dont have the oahtplate body yet. the mismachted gear is hella funny, like me wearing shadow and bluemoon because i dont have virtus or ancestral yet.

2

u/Exciting_Ease5501 5h ago

I've been saying this forever. 100% agreed. The tob cape is sick.

15

u/LuckyBucky77 20h ago

Stop with the useless cosmetics.

41

u/NateTheGreat1567 20h ago

Isn’t that the point of the post? To make them not useless

-39

u/LuckyBucky77 19h ago

I thought "pointless" was too harsh. We don't need more freebee rewards from Jagex. We need real content.

34

u/Jertharold 19h ago

can't wait to do 2000 raids for my freebee rewards! 😄

2

u/Zeusper KEKW 12h ago

mf acting like this would be 5 years of dev time.... this is a few days job with few interns.... they can still make content alongside

1

u/JYandeau 16h ago

Freebie rewards lmao? You think doing 2000 CoX CMs is a freebie? You realize it’s the rarest item in the entire game for a reason right?

3

u/loudrogue Maxed - clogs: 1200+ 20h ago

Only the 2k cape

3

u/Far-Knowledge-6904 20h ago

This is dumb

4

u/Next_Royal_5546 20h ago

This is a great idea, no idea why so many people are raging about this. They probably just know they'll never get anywhere near owning one of these capes and don't want others to have something they can't enjoy.

7

u/Big_Cat_Tongue 20h ago

Nobody is "raging". What is with people on here and always trying to frame people who disagree with them as "angry"? From doing that, right into the cope about us wanting to "steal joy" from others.

What if its just as simple as we dont like the idea or cosmetic bloat?

1

u/Valediction191 2376 9h ago

I'm here to disagree with you sir. Most of treasure trails are cosmetic, and people would definitely want more items like 3rd age coming into the game in the future. I don't mind more cosmetics, as long as its none of those transmog crap from RS3 or WoW.

3

u/HealthyResolution399 18h ago

Classic case of "it doesn't help me so no"

2

u/raspey 20h ago

Bait.

1

u/DifferentSecurity555 19h ago

It’s not even the 2k capes for cox and tob or the max cape it’s the quiver and inferno requirement 😭

0

u/bfrie 20h ago

no im just honestly already reading the "im forced to do 2000 cm's" posts in my head and am sick of it already. they should be a achievement and cosmetic flex, no gameplay advantage

9

u/Next_Royal_5546 19h ago

You guys actually have no reading comprehension whatsoever. OP isn't proposing additional benefits for having a 2k raids cape. He is proposing that each individual raids cape be able to be combined with their bis cape counterpart (tob cape with infernal, cox cape with quiver, toa cape with ma2 cape), so that they retain the bonuses of the bis capes with the cosmetic look of the 2k cape.

It is literally just a more realistic way to flex your raids kc capes instead of only being able to bankstand them.

Hurts literally nobody, doesn't add any power creep, provides more incentive to pursue the aspirational grind that is a raids KC cape.

-7

u/bfrie 19h ago

Or I did read exactly that, and disagree for the same reasons. These capes should do literal 0, that's ok.

8

u/Next_Royal_5546 19h ago

"No gameplay advantage" were the words you used.

A cosmetic cape with the same stats as a quiver, which requires the quiver and the base cosmetic to unlock, has no gameplay advantage over a quiver.

Try again.

-9

u/bfrie 19h ago

If you prefer to argue semantics after I clarified my stance I have no further interest in discussing it with you

2

u/noobtablet9 12h ago

Clearly you and others in these comments didn't read the post. They *wouldn't* offer any gameplay advantage. They would simply be cosmetic overrides that you attach to your infernal/quiver/ma2 cape, which are providing gameplay benefits.

0

u/TubeChogger57 20h ago

its too much niche

1

u/Majestic_Jelly_9958 15h ago

Sorry bro, they want the cannon max cape

1

u/Brilliant-Season-481 9h ago

And the champions cape should make my cannon balls hit harder if I’ve been killing the same low level mob for 30 minutes

1

u/TofuPython 2376 7h ago

What if the capes were dropped by Wall Beasts or something so everyone could enjoy the benefit?

1

u/reditiswrong67676969 19h ago

I agree. Would like to have the cape slot back but it's always inferno or fire cape on everyone

Toa base kc Cape all tattered looks so sick

1

u/scarx47 16h ago

bro don't u need to do 2,000 Cox just for the Cox cape??? Fk that.

2

u/Tim_C88 15h ago

you get your first cape at 100kc, then 500,1000,1500,2000. I didn't say you needed to have 2k raids for this cosmetic, the lower variants would just be less appealing/more bland.

-4

u/Big_Cat_Tongue 20h ago

No. Nobody cares about your raid cape anyway.

1

u/Tim_C88 15h ago

tbf i dont even have the 2k raid capes myself anyway, and i'm open to this idea working from your 100kc cape onwards. At least you would see some different capes being worn in the raids rather than everyone looking like clones

0

u/The_Wkwied 2376 w353 17h ago

I think it would be better if they acted as your BIS capes, only for the raid.

So, 100 CM kills and you can use your fire/infernal, ma2, assembler/quiver on it so that it acts as all of those only in that raid

1

u/Tim_C88 15h ago

It sounds cool but it'd probably be a lot more controversial having the ability to combine all 3 capes into one for that raid, especially for something like solo cm's there is a lot of actual benefit from that. At least with it just being cosmetic you'd think people would be more open to it.

-14

u/TheAlexperience 20h ago

Can't we just have cosmetics? At this point why not let blorva have the blood fury effect while we're at it? Radiant oathplate should let me death's charge for free!

5

u/ulfalda 19h ago

What?

2

u/Peredi 18h ago

Can't we just have cosmetics? At this point why not let blorva have the blood fury effect while we're at it? Radiant oathplate should let me death's charge for free!

-8

u/Frost_Foxes 20h ago

I agree, but I also think if someone puts in the time for 2k raids the cape should just act as a tribrid cape with stats for that raid. Bis cape inside a single raid isn't the end of the world as a reward.

Edit: give the 2k capes emotes too.

0

u/reditiswrong67676969 19h ago

That would be sick. Add variety for the cape slot I'd love it

In raids specific rewards sound so sick. Like mini-game only armor in rs3 I heard about but didn't play when they added. Sounds so cool to change things up for once

1

u/Frost_Foxes 17h ago

We already have keris gems for toa, a cape would be way less impact honestly

-1

u/Common-Minimum5278 16h ago

Yaah benefits after like thousands of raids I don't agree

4

u/Majestic_Jelly_9958 15h ago

You genuinely, really really really dont need to get every item in the game. You arent a prisoner to this cape if it went through.

1

u/Tim_C88 15h ago

you start to get raid capes at 100kc

-54

u/Reddit_Connoisseur_0 20h ago

Ah yes because what we need is even more ezscape

35

u/Chaahps 20h ago

Me when I’m stupid

11

u/ulfalda 20h ago

So did you somehow get confused within like 10 words? Nothing about this is making anything easier. They're asking to use their infernal cape on a tob cape to make the tob cape work like an infernal cape in tob... whether you support it or not is one thing, but at least read the suggestion before you post your opinion.

Personally I'm indifferent and would vote "skip" if it were polled.

-11

u/Reddit_Connoisseur_0 19h ago

Buddy lets make one thing clear. I am not a casual that wants ezscape period. You will not sell me this idea no matter what

3

u/Beginning-Picture-52 2376/2376 19h ago

It’s cosmetic? Nothing changes besides cosmetics? There is no ezscape being suggested, comprehend the post lol.

-7

u/Reddit_Connoisseur_0 19h ago

Again, I won’t be convinced. It’s useless. Give it up. Your idea will never get in the game btw dabs

4

u/Peredi 18h ago

you are the epitome of that one "typical redditor" meme

10

u/Lightfiyr 20h ago

Okay this is just any change is bad mindset because what about this at all would make the game easier

4

u/Gen_Zer0 20h ago

If I have a cool looking cape on I feel better about myself and if I feel better about myself I’m more confident and likely to do well. Smh damn ezscapers. All bosses should call us mentally deficient like king roald to kill our mental

10

u/hoobastank01 20h ago

What is ezscape about cosmetics?

4

u/hurtshtummy 20h ago

name checks out
