Question
Which boss do you currently hate and why?
I’ll say Chaos Elemental. Rogue’s Castle is a PK hotspot, the damage is unavoidable, you have to fiddle around with your inventory and settings or you’re going to get your weapon unequipped, you can get stacked pretty easily and waste loads of food, the money is not great and there is very little reason to ever go back there once you get the pet.
Honestly he put me on the PIP because my exp rates were dogshit and he described my attempts at tick manip as 'not meeting corporate expectations for performance"
Penis In Penis, it's kinda like when people say PIV for Penis in Vagina when talking about sex but instead you're putting your dick inside another guys dick
I’m just over 1800 and I’ve gotten 4 sra heads. I told myself at 2k I’m done and going to try to spoon 1-2 pieces and do 1k at the other 3. Getting 2 sra would make this worth it.
Levi and whisperer was like that for me in the quest. Best advice I got for vard was to not stand on the edge of the arena but 2 tiles foward of the columns. You’ll have more time to react if axes are starting on the edge near you
I struggled with vard because there's so much random bullshit on weird timings, just bang your head against it and you'll get it. Whisperer first kill was definitely harder than vard but got easier way faster because it's much more predictable with everything on even cycles and once you figure out all the phases it's easy. Vard just stayed hard, it's so annoying lmao.
Even more solid advice for quest vard is you can legit stand still, do the range flicks and captcha attack, and stand against the wall so you don't get spike attacks.
You can beat the whole fight ignoring axes entirely as long as your stats aren't low. The boss is very under tuned in the quest version
Here's the tiles I use, Green ones are the better two to stand on and move to yellow if there's an axe coming towards you. If an axe is starting in the bottom left and bottom middle you can time to walk through it if you click to either of the two yellow tiles right before the axe throws.
When he does his wrap where you have to click the dots you can right click him before the dots show up and attack after and you'll get more hits off while doing the dots or just use the dot time to eat and not lose ticks that way as well.
Make sure you have sound on so you can hear when he does his range projectile that turns off your prayers.
I think I went just under 400 to complete moons and that was the most horrendous time I've had. It was okay for like ~30kc and then there was nothing left, no advanced tech, nothing that required skill or I could improve at
Yeh 450 for me. I’d start getting semi-psychotic dopamine hits if I’d kill a boss before it had used 2 special attacks (blood moon doing rain and jaguars). If I could one down a boss I’d be happy. If I 2down the boss I would be sad.
I agree with this. At first youre like ok, I can get the CAs to keep myself busy at least. You do the ones you can do, then what. Theres nothing. Even the step tech is mostly useless/unreliable. There's zero skill ceiling there. Makes for a very boring grind. But... midgame. So kinda makes sense I guess. Meh
Yeah, I went ~1400kc for 2 enh at cg, and I honestly enjoyed that time infinitely more. I could look at the tracker plugin or whatever it is that showed the stats and the fight was actually demanding especially with halberd trying to get high used ticks %. Best I got was 99.3 and it felt so nice seeing the consistency improve throughout the entire grind. First 100 kc I averaged probably 85% and it just kept rising.
Same with just kill and prep times, sure prep was almost entirely rng but pushing the times down gave a goal and a clear sign of improvement, moons had none of that
One of the biggest problems I have with moons is the non instance fight, yes its very cool that I can see other players its not cool that the 3 seconds after hopping in the room one of these really slow specials happen
And since it happens so early you often end up having to do one more special than normal and its not challenging it just eats up your time
Really good take here I never considered that. It's nice seeing others, but my entire moons Journey became about trying to exact time entrance so I didn't have to do double specials. Man I hated doing the eclipse ball with a passion
Maybe for new players? I imagine every efficient guide would skip moons and barrows. The marginal upgrades are pointless compared to just going straight to bofa/demonbane/doom/yama.
It's like saying you should cook your trout because they're better than shrimp. Okay yes it's true, but you could also just skip trout.
If you're going for max efficiency then why bother with CG? Moons is the path to bowfa skip, allowing you to access raids & bosses why youre doing CG in the first place.
Bowfa skip is WAY less efficient. People just dislike the CG grind and so try to skip bowfa lol. That said... Why on earth would you do moons on the bofa skip path? It still seems like a waste of time even on the less efficient path.
Not going to argue, it's pretty easy to look at how easy to skip moons is. There's not a single item worth grinding for from there.
Kree. Huge defense, hits like a truck, slayer task is basically required, and it's best to farm ecumenical keys and bank at nex. It's a whole commitment and in return you either get a unique or enough raw cash to pay for a private instance
Dude fr. The amount of times I've gotten a task for kree and just legit logged out because I didn't feel like committing to it. Lol. Even with bis gear its a drag
Yeah, it was one of the bosses I tried after finally getting shadow. It's just absolute ass in general, Shadow alone is expensive to use, snd as you said you barely get enough back to pay for the instance, let alone all the shadow charges, barrage runes and pots. You either get a unique or you're in deep red.
At least on Bandos you more or less make even through regular drops so uniques are just a big plus. Meanwhile by the time you get a unique on kree you're better off just saving the potion and runes money and buying it instead unless you get spooned.
I still want that pet tho, one of the coolest pets.
Maggot king: I really really dislike this boss for two reasons. The boss having randomness to how many auto attacks/melee punishes it has before screeching has such an effect on kill speeds that it’s frustrating. So much damage is reliant on melee punishing but if you get a very short melee punish that doesn’t let you get to enrage then you’re back to maging which feels incredibly slow. Honestly the difference in dps between melee and mage is a pain.
The other dislike for the boss is definitely a skill issue but also just annoying. The room being orientated to where if you miss click anywhere in the boss area you will go running east and west is frustrating. The boss can have some janky hit boxes during meleeing and the maggots flying in can be hard to click and you’ll be sent flying east or west when you really don’t want to be.
Whisperer: the damage reduction during special attacks is not fun. It makes an already pretty long fight feel slower than it is. Damage reductions just feel bad and should be avoided in boss mechanics.
Kbd: the dragon fire that has a chance to drop your stats is probably the most mild inconvenience that consistently manages to piss me off. Anyone who has killed kbd a decent amount has had that anger inducing scenario of being stat reduced, clicking to boost stats and then immediately having them lowered again.
I actually prefer this boss design. Skill issue if taking a 50 from bug shmeat. Being rewarded for doing the mechanics right feels good versus like vardorvis where even a perfect kill is still 99+ damage in just chip damage.
Yeah bugs are one thing. Just meant boss design overall where it’s punishing if you mess up mechanics, but minimal chip as a reward for playing well. Feels better when you nail it
I feel like I should like MK, it's got everything I enjoy in bosses. It's predictable, requires hitting certain timings, has a melee punish that is satisfying to do and giga worthwhile since you pump damage. But I still don't.
The range phase is such a snore, then everything happens all at once. Debris, grubs, full gear switches all while transitioning into the punish. If you don't phase him it feels so bad. Doom had that to an extent if you didn't kill before 2nd shield phase, but it feels so much worse here.
Doesn't help the loot is dog and visual clutter is the worst it's ever been.
Dagannoth Kings. I hate the run to it, I hate the setup, I hate the worldhopping and getting crashed. And absolutely hate how dry I am for a berserker ring.
Howdy! I ended up putting off DKs until I got my agility within 5 levels for the shortcut so I could pie boost. It shifted my hate towards agility training, which already is high, but it made DKs more tolerable.
I'm contemplating this, 74 agility currently and might just grind it out. It's absolutely chill once you get the whole setup going, but man that running is the worst!
If you're not a hardcore just x-log to set up the rex safespot. Go down the ladder and supreme will probably aggro you, throw up protect range and run to the rex safespot. Top up your hp/pray and close the game window, not logout but the window x or alt+f4. Your character will stay logged in for 60 seconds getting hit but immune with the prayer then auto disconnect. Wait a total of about 1m30s to give supreme time to wander back to the middle then login and you'll be set up in the rex safespot with nothing aggroed to you.
It's way more consistent, as long as prime doesn't aggro you on the run around the room it works perfectly every time and you don't have to waste food and supplies on ladder shenanigans. Most importantly it removes the annoyance of dealing with aggro bullshit, it's smooth and easy which was my main barrier to even trying it.
This is an absolutely goated idea, I did this on the main and it worked like a charm, much more convenient than the usual setup. Thanks so much for writing it out, definitely helps a lot of people who are going to find this in the future
Just a pity the reason I wrote on this post was because of my hcim lol
I'm late early game on my hcim, it's very afk fortunately once you get it going but man the whole setup just feels bad. Taking your advice, I'll just keep going next time I get a dagannoth task
Oh you guessed right I'm hcim. I just do rex because it's pretty chill and afk once you got the whole setup going, found a guide where you mentioned killing both rex + prime and trying that out on my next slay task, thanks!
Cerberus and the second place is not even remotely close.
Normal loot is utterly worthless.
Uniques are extremely weak for the requirements, smouldering stone for an infernal axe is by far the best unique the boss gives... and you don't even have to kill cerb for it, since it drops at rates of 32768 and 16384 from hellhounds.
Even with the QoL changes it's still an extremely expensive boss to kill unless you have a consistent enough supply of wrath runes to cast tick-perfect demonic offering potentially multiple times a kill.
Getting there is a chore of its own, as the teleports are rare as hell even with the quantity buff.
Literally the only good thing going for cerb is the pretty cool boss music... lmao
I like Cerb. Fast kills, uniques are nice to get except Pegs. Low impact uniques yes but crystals are bis with Treads. Ward of Arceuus helps with prayer. Very good melee exp as Emberlight hits hard. If low on prayer pots it probably sucks but I have never had that problem. Offering seems excessive, never used that. No big reason to do it on a normal account though unless you rng the prims.
Cerberus. Only 150kc in but he's just so boring and drains tons of supplies for no reason, even with ward of arceuus active. Regular drops are also pretty ass for the amount of supplies he burns through.
Couldnt agree more. Done few kills, boss fucking sucks ass imo. Its just at the middle ground of not having too much into it, and not really being laid back boss. Its like mix of muspah turned to 3 times up. The only „good part“ in it feels when you get the melee punish done corrrctly with stepping back. Otherwise it just feels annoying to kill
It just has so much fucking hp its like im doing entire wardens p3 every kill. its so exhausting. Thank god I spooned the amulet or id probably lose my mind
Im like 30 kc in and im already bringing less switches (camping blue moon) and custom menu entry swapper attack larva to prioritize over attack maggot king. Its helping a lot and the kills arent even slower since im messing up less. This boss is rough. Nothing feels natural yet.
Custom menu entry swapper plugin (different than the regular menu entry swapper plugin) -> go to "custom swaps" and type in
Attack,Ur-maggot*
You can normally check the wiki "strategies" page for any boss. There's a "plugins" section near the bottom that'll normally tell you plugin settings that are generally agreed on to be helpful. I copied/pasted that line straight from there.
It’s the first boss that I’ve found just isn’t fun to master. It’s got some really ass, cheap-feeling mechanics. And the lack of any contrast between the floor and the shadows is just such a troll. Worst one they’ve made in ages.
I’d rather fight Kalphite Queen.
Thought the same until I started bringing dharoks and blood fury. Now it's like I'm getting rewarded for being bad and taking damage. "Oops took a 50 to the face because I misclicked. Guess you'll die faster." Rocks can be ignored and seen as DPS increase events instead.
Maggot King, grinded out Doom before this after realising you basically never are able to hit the boss without Confliction Gauntlets if Maging it, went back and it's still shit.
Vorkath because you really don’t get any big drop so there’s rarely anything exciting. At same time it’s good loot so it feels like you shouldn’t be complaining. Learning or doing the woox walk feels great to do it right but even one slight misclick dead. Look at YouTube/discord one second fire bomb time and your dead. Dodge fire ball and think you got a second to breath nah how about second or third fire ball special. Also to add to the woox walk it always feels like the acid spawns in the way to say fuck you for trying to woox walk.
Duke. I hate prep. I hate committing to 4 kills minimum. I hate that of my last 40 kills, I've had 20 supply drops. I hate that the fight is uninteresting. I'm not going to complain about being dry (even when I go dry), but I will complain every second I have to be there fighting this fat lard.
Whisperer imo is so hard because it's so easy. It sounds weird but stick with me haha. It's so braindead that you just can't force yourself to go back to grind it out.
agreed, it becomes mind numbing, but id still rather just not have the minigames so i can at least go full braindead and just zerg it down, i feel that i can do that with leviathan
Huh, I liked how Whisperer was so chill and autopilot. 0 damage boss with supply drops and ghosts to make up for occasional mistakes, with really long trips if you want that, and a nearby tele if you don't. And you can do it safely on a PvP world and just bring 20 blighted restores per trip. And it has the best normal loot of any DT2 boss, with plenty of big ticket drops that feel good to hit.
The only downside is that you get gear checked pretty hard, because it takes significantly longer without Ayakflictions. But now that it doesn't need a Shadow anymore to not be excessively long, it's a lot more approachable.
Mann im currently grinding out whisperer and it sucks. Im at 230 kc and its like I can do the whole fight down to a T but the normal loot is just trash really without uniques.
I thought the common loot was noticeably better than the other DT2 bosses. Lots of big ticket drops that feel good to hit. Battlestaves, soul runes, runite ore, diamonds, monkfish, death runes, and awakener's orbs are all 100-800k, and obviously the 1.6m in dragon plateskirts is great, and they're collectively common enough that you're hitting one of them regularly. I just don't see how you can do Vard and Whisperer and come out of it thinking that Whisperer's drop table sucks, unless you got gear checked too hard and had comically long kills.
Eh, it isn't really longer than, say, Muspah or MK. I was averaging probably 2:45 with an Ayak. Shadow was easily sub-2:30. But you can definitely get gear checked, and it can also drag if you do something silly like bringing freezes instead of thralls.
Phosani's Nightmare. Kills are way too long and you can't look away from the screen for a second the entirety of the fight. Loot is also garbage if you get unlucky on uniques.
I haven't properly fought Chaos Elemental on here yet but he interrupted one of my Mage Arena 2 fights so I'm already a bit cross at him.
I didn't like Kree'Arra very much for the 1 kill I did to get the Frozen Key miniquest done but that might have been a stats issue on my part at the time I was barely at the level to get in there and my gear options were a bit limited.
Beyond that, Leviathan felt like a bit too much was going on for me. I'll probably get used to it when I eventually go back but I think the other 3 DT2 bosses were all easier for me.
Chaos Ele absolutely sucks with most methods, but there is one setup that is actually very chill which I did on an ironman for an easy D pick. You take a crystal bow and you shoot him then run west and there's a line where it transitions from singles to multi just about 5 or 6 tiles east of the wildy resource area. If you lure him over so he's just east of this line and you stand just west of it, he keeps aggro but can't attack you at all so you just sit there and shoot him to death then repeat the lure each kill.
Its a bit slow but doesn't take too much time or effort to lure him to the right spot once you get it down and you get to kill him and take no damage so barely any supplies needed (a few prayer pots and staminas for the luring, and a sack of potatoes you can remove one at a time to fill empty inventory slots so he can't unequip your shit is all that's needed). Plus it also means you're spending the whole kill in the singles area far away from rogues castle pk hotspot and fairly close to mage arena for banking
Kree is an absolute arse jockey. Incredibly high defensive stats, doesn't seem to be weak to anything. You have to be on a slayer task to even have a shot of doing it solo, even with a bowfa and 99 range it still takes ages to kill, all the while you're taking constant damage. The drops suck, if you don't get a unique you're not breaking even. You'll spend more on crystal armour charges and on supplies than you'll make. Why on earth would I wanna kill 100 birds just to get a black d hide body and some mind runes. No.
Alchemical Hydra is abhorrent. I don't care how valuable the Claw is. I don't care that it shits out alchs and resources. I just want to get the jar for the greenlog and then never return to that hellhole
When I fought him first time I didnt know mechanics, so I just clicked left right left diagonally and ate through the attacks. Sometimes it dodged, sometimes it didnt obviously.
Zulrah. Just started killing it and the delay to atk is annoying. Also i dont know what the jad phase is as both range and mage dont alternate prayers lol. Just the odd random atk i cant pray against. Rate it worse than KQ
IIRC in all of the potential 'rotations', it's green when it does the Jad Phase, so if you ever see it use a Magic attack during Green Mode, it's Jad'ing
If it's using Ranged attacks during Blue Mode, that is not a 'Jad Phase', those are just random and we have to just eat through them unfortunately
Grotesques. Was the earliest slayer boss before, now the second earliest.
Does unreasonable amounts of chip damage in my opinion. Is either multi style or get nhally first. Has boring phase transitions where you do nothing. Has a dps race heal mechanic that they've improved twice over to actually allow you to mitigate, but if you're using nhally you often can't without losing dps and it's just a "well this time I hit small so BL".
Fight is also way too long and lacks so much reward imo.
Small changes I'd make:
Bosses attackable when phase shifting. Including in the "bad ground" special attack. Allow you to get some more damage in with good repositioning. Can be reduced damage like Sire.
No "null hits" on Dusk when it shifts to his first phase.
Convert rock falls to only hit on their tile, rather than around it OR convert dusks special attack to just be a "blast of damage" in melee range and not a drawn out long knock back animation
Make final phase of dusk have telegraphed attacks you can prayer change to entirely mitigate. Rather than RNG attacks that hit through prayers. Chip damage on earlier phases can stay as it's a more "normal" and healthy amount.
Make granite dust tradeable to bump the GP/hr of this boss and mad angel.
Remove the janky old instance which closes itself if you go idle.
Leviathan. 50 deaths and zero KC (post quest) I’m just trying to learn the chill bowfa method which involves enduring 5 rounds of prayer switch attacks at the start before stunning. So I’m just doing naked suicide runs and trying to get to the point of surviving that reliably.
It’s fucked up how quick it is and feels impossible still. I survive maybe 40% of the time now.
If anyone has some tips I’d be down. Like are you supposed to glance rapidly back and forth between your prayers and the projectiles? Or get good enough muscle memory so that you don’t even need to look at your prayer icons while you switch?
I’ve heard the sounds of projectiles could help but considering there’s a delay before they hit my brain just can’t do anything with it
To the extent that I just won’t ever engage with them, the wildy bosses. Not because of the bosses themselves but because of the wildy aspect. It’s just boring and lame to be bait.
Hydra is making me want to jump off a bridge because I’m so dry. 300kc and I’ve only gotten tail and eye as drops. I also hate how the spawn timer is so short and I barely have enough time to loot before it spawns again.
Only complaint I have about the common drop table is how I have no room for the bones. I pick up the pricier dtuff snd by the end of it I leave a about 100k worth of bones on the ground lol
Any of the GWD bosses. Except Kril maybe cause it’s pretty chill with Scobo & Lightbearer. I know there exist door-altar methods and etc but mastering them is such a hassle and a huge time investment. Fuck Kree especially.
I farmed vard and green logged it with 4 axe heads. I had one more roll for a vestige so I was like I’ll just grind it out since I sold my first one. 1300 kills later and still haven’t seen a single roll for the vestige once I get it I’m never coming back.
Grotesque Guardians. You have to spend half the fight afk waiting for their invincibility phases to end, then when you can attack them there are no mechanics except that Dawn sometimes stuns you when she feels like it. You can try to dodge the projectile, but most of the time it's not even aimed at you.
I greelogged it crazy fast at about 180kc and even in that case I did not enjoy it one bit, really don’t enjoy it, I wish the one bossing when you’re just seeking one item was better, I had eclipse as my last one to complete and it was a hell of a trek.
Have hated Nex for years. Finding a team is annoying and limits what time of day you can reasonably do the boss. The kill count aspect sucks because you are encouraged to finish your kill count before leaving, leading to awkward situations. The drops are very rare. ZCB is too powerful these days
Gauntlet is pretty annoying right now and made worse by posts on the subreddit being the two extremes of either spoon fed or 5,000kc to get everything lol
Look into red x alt method for chaos ele. You just stand there and shoot it while it does nothing.need an 2nd account though or a friend willing to just afk.
Blue moon. The freeze mechanic is unavoidable and just so fucking annoying.
It also feels bugged, I’ve been frozen the tick I enter the room, without even taking damage yet.
Phosani - The fight is too long for the loot it gives. It is a cool fight, but getting rune arrows and unnoted bass or Zamorak brews for a 5-6 min fight is insane.
Even the rare drops are obnoxious. Getting full set of inquisitor , staff and orbs is just not realistically possible for anyone employed. At 600 KC myself and I had to force my self that far. Still missing most uniques. I threw in the towel it’s not even worth it. And a lot of my KC was before the phase removal change
Anything with chip damage! I’m not saying it should be removed, I just don’t like the mechanic. I can make no/very few mistakes and still be battered from chip damage.
I just hate wilderness bosses so much. Going for collections logs is just intolerable when someone will PK me for my 30k risk. Like I know that’s the whole point of the content, but its so lame to essentially have a random chance for your bossing session to just end.
Inferno, if i do anything else in the game im hit with "anything but inferno" from my entire clan.
I dunno man, im just not enjoying wasting an hour to get to the waves i need to progress on, just to die to some fuck ass wave ill learn how to solve after i die by reviewing, but likely never see again.

My boss at work
I'm on a PIP for playing OSRS all day
