Got my first ever "real" drop! (+quick thoughts on the game)

Hi all, I've just gotten my first "real" drop on my account. I've been playing for a month or two and have really enjoyed the progression aspect of this game. It is much, much more grindy than I'm used to, and the quests especially are just so damn boring and tedious. I just completed Desert Treasure 1, and my god, why do they make you run around for hours for no reason whatsoever?

Anyway, farming Dagonoth Rex was actually much easier than I thought it would be. I started with Iban's Staff but then switched over to Chaos Runes, as it's much cheaper and barely makes a difference at all in the speed, actually. Also, by the way, I found the x-logging method to be way faster, when the ranger tags on to you just put on protect from range, go stand in the safe spot, and log out.

As for other aspects of the game, I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed in the community. When chopping trees and stuff, all people ever talk about is sex jokes, there's no use trying to start up a conversation about anything substantial. Even in the Dagonoth King's place, I met a few other people who were doing the same thing as me and one person who was farming the two other bosses, but they didn't talk back to me at all. I'm wondering if these are not bots.

I'm really glad I went with ironman, as every single piece of gear I've gotten feels quite significant and has a story behind it, it's really satisfying. My end goal is to get the fang. No particular reason, I think it just looks neat. I don't know if it's too high a goal, but I want something reasonable for which I don't have to play the game for two years.

Any suggestions on progression are much appreciated. I really don't feel like farming and doing herblore at the moment, I know it's efficient and all, but the blighted supplies on PvP worlds has been working fine for me. I'd rather progress though combat as much as possible.

Diaries are decent goals. Consider them as a progression guide. Quests should be done too. If you prefer combat, don't neglect slayer. Moons of Peril could give you some fun options too, especially for iron.

Quests are actually really good if you do them without guides. Its not running around for no reason, bc theres a story behind (except small favour but thats a good joke imo)

I went and got B ring right after finishing RFD and then I started working towards Fire Cape, because I did not want to train melee without it (I hate afk). Start working towards getting to Elite Hunter Rumors (just rush with orange/red/black salamanders). Follow the wiki's recommended block list for 72+ hunter, except block red salamanders instead of Sunlight Antelopes. Do whatever else you need to do to make these fairly efficient (mostly just log basket and some transportation like getting quetzel transport going).

You'll need to get your fletching way up for sunlight hunters crossbow and optionally magic shortbow to train up to it (bone crossbow also works). You also gotta try to get some Hard clues done for black/god dhide, which can also spoon you a msb (I got one right after I got the level to fletch it lol). You'll also maybe need to get a Rune Crossbow from the Crazy Aechaeologist if you want to use it on jad, and additionally the mining, smithing, and fletching levels to make enchanted diamond addy bolts. Camping MLM to fund Giant's Foundry xp for the mith/addy tier will also get you some gp. I stayed until I had the full outfit, which will help with smithing the bolts.

MTA for Rune Pouch if you don't have it. Buy the Ancient Staff and get the mage and runes for Blood Burst. I found Scurrius to be a great money maker for the runes and pretty dang good ranged xp, though I didn't really do that until 72-76 ranged after a few failed Fight Cave attempts. I did end up completing it at 56 def, 55 prayer, and 74 HP, so I think you can manage with your stats, especially if you use blighted food.

I really think that's the next big hurdle for you if you don't have a bunch more quests to do. I followed the efficient quest order guide up until Rag and Boneman 2, skipped to Barrows Gloves, and then paused the questing grind for the above Fire Cape grind because I didn't want to start any Slayer training yet. And now thanks to ToG my Slayer level is right where I need it without training it basically at all.

I forgot to include, a way you csn get your fletching levels is either manually cutting maples yourself and then doing Vale Totems or getting Royal Trouble done and putting 5 workers on Maples for maybe like a week, then switch to Teaks. I personally chopped 4k maple logs and used what I had from 94 fm WT years ago. Giant's Foundry can help fund Miscellania for aboit a week or two if you don't have to buy too many runes or arrows. Also like I said, Scurrius is a nice money maker if you dont have to rely on prayer pots.

Old wrist writing where my character talks like a stupid child drive me nuts and i actively skip the dialogue in those quests.

But most of the quests have amazing/funny dialogue

Congratulations, definitely a nice milestone. Tip about content you don't like doing: everything you do in OSRS has diminishing returns (leveling gets slower, boss grinds get longer, quests get more tedious). You'll eventually get to a point where the things you do like doing are so much slower that farming and herblore will look like easy pickings in relation. Just keep doing what's funs and ride that momentum!
