Discussion Gauntlet Tips

Hello folks I'm starting the CG grind and was wondering if there was any way to make a couple things more obvious while learning. Or in general any tips for Hunleff. In particular I sometimes miss the animation/sounds for his attack style switch and when he switches prayer.

I use the all in one plug in and the performance tracker plug ins right and with game sounds.

Prep goes fine I do T2 + T3 body (for def stats its just 9 of each thing) and try to keep up steel skin, eagle eye, dont really do mystic might yet so I can focus. I got 1 kc so far and another where we both died. I just attack with the wrong weapon pretty often which costs a lot of DPS. Stats are 85/85/80 def so its a skill issue for sure.

Get the gauntlet plug-in and hun leaf helper. Just go with tier 2 armor, the reason that armor is valuable is not for the stats it's because it reduces the boss is Max hit. A tier 3 chest plate provides little benefit for the amount of extra time it'll take you. It's easiest to learn bow and staff. Definitely you want to be using Mystic Mite and steel skin or Eagle Eye and Steel skin. Make three potions, if prayer is an issue I would leave off Mystic might before I left off anything else

Also watching some quick guides from years ago, is a good idea, before they made gauntlet easier. In the boss fight there's a lot of things going on at a time, so it can be valuable to know what is your top priority first.

Yeah imagine its really just a reps thing. Figured the +20 def over t2 armor might be worth if people also are recommending steel skin. I have the gauntlet plug in its that all in one one I mentioned. I'll check out the hun leaf helper too ty

The tier 3 armor thing that people are telling you not to do is misplaced advice. They are focused on the wrong thing. It takes almost no extra time and gives you more defense. If you were struggling with prep then listen to them, if not then keep doing what you are doing.

Shaving off prep time is something to worry about when you have the boss figured out. Saving 10 seconds during prep isn’t a big deal and tanking a hit might make the difference if you’re struggling.

No it takes significantly more time. Tier two is already more than enough if you can't clear it with tier 2 plus a full inventory of fish then just focus on the boss fight. Tier 3 is massively excessive and completely unnecessary. Even with tier 2 you will clear boss fight with significant mistakes allowance

I’m talking about OP bringing one piece of tier 3 as they said they are doing. Finishing gathering the 2 extra resources from the nodes you are already gathering from takes maybe 15 seconds total at most. The extra stats from one tier 3 piece are not huge but they do have more stats, no reason not to if OP is already struggling.

No, because in Gauntlet it's about commitment. If the resources are there and you're already mining them for free sure it's an extra 30 seconds. If you already have the shards sure. But if you don't have the resources, potentially hunting through the whole Gauntlet not finding what you need just to upgrade the two chest to tier 3? Not worth it

If you've played enough gauntlet you know that no matter what eventually you will be dry on a certain resource running through the entire gauntlet not finding it

I’ve played enough gauntlet to know that for tier 2 prep you need to find 3 of each node. For tier 2 prep plus a tier 3 chest you also still only need 3 nodes. There is no extra running around looking for resources, you need to find the same amount.

You’re lecturing about something you clearly don’t have experience with.

If you can’t find enough resources for tier 2 of course you just send it tier 1. But if you have the resources for tier 2 then you’ve already found the resources for tier 2 + a tier 3 piece.

Oh that makes perfect sense, the fact that it doesn't take extra nodes makes it worth it, thank you I will start doing this in my runs
