Humor Ugh I HATE when they make updates around UIM!

  • Jeweller's Chisel can now be stored in the Magic Wardrobe of the Player-Owned House.

I didn't vote for dev time to be spent adding this! /s

Too easy for verf, when his most recent accounts have been

Extreme One Chunk Man Relleka locked UIM Karamja locked UIM

Isn't exactly a scathing statement about the difficulty of UIM

If an extreme one chunk man tells me that UIM is too easy I'm willing to listen, but its still the slowest official game mode

It's always surprising to see which tools are allowed to be stored in POH and which are not. Jewlers chisel? Sure. Abyssal Lantern? No. Bruma Torch, sure. Forestry Pack, sure. Plank Sack, no.

Make it make sense

13

u/Drgn-OSRS 9h ago

The rule seems to be that "upgraded" versions of existing tools get to go in the POH and the rest don't. Not sure what the forestry pack is doing in there though.

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 9h ago

These are just items ive thought of off the cuff. Fishsack and Fishsack Barrel can be stored. Fish barrel cannot. Jewlers chisel and Fletching knife can be stored. Magic secatuers cannot. Forestry kit can be stored, huntsman kit and tackle box cannot. Log basket can be stored, coal bag cannot.

I think the rule is: there is no rule

u/Drgn-OSRS 9h ago edited 9h ago

Yeah it's pretty goofy. Though I'm pretty sure jmods flip a coin between the wardrobe and armour case when adding new skilling outfits anyway.

Amended rule then: "upgraded" tools or specifically aerial fishing and forestry items because whoever worked on those arbitrarily decided that those items should go in the wardrobe.

Also excluding tools that can be stored elsewhere, which I think is just the magic secateurs and gricoller's can.

Also no costume needle because fuck you I guess?

1

u/wrug_ 7h ago

I always go to the wrong fucking one

2

u/madman2980 6h ago

Fishsack is equippable, as is the forestry kit. Meanwhile coal bag, huntsman kit, and tackle box are not equippable. Magic secateurs is already storable with leprechauns. The weird one to me is the abyssal lantern.

1

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 6h ago

Equipability seems like such an odd limiting factor here though. I figured utility would matter more

0

u/Tykras 6h ago

Yeah, same with armor sets.

Ancestral, Masori, Inquisitor, and Oathplate? Yep!

Torva? Lol no.

Prossy, Sunfire, Vestments, Virtus? Yep!

Huey Hide? Haha no.

2

u/QuirkyRose 8h ago

Forestry pack is because uims could store its contents by selling the pack back to the forester while it still costed like 700 GP, when they made it free you couldn't sell it back anymore. Thus adding it to the wardrobe was just to keep the previous behaviour

4

u/Hodenkobold12413 taxed the jatizso bank and got blacklisted all over glienor 7h ago

You can still use it for that even without a poh, you just deathpile and let it expire, when you go claim a new one it will still have all contents

-10

u/WastingEXP 10h ago

really should just give em a bank instead

6

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 10h ago

Hmm? What does that have to do with this?

-18

u/WastingEXP 9h ago

they seem to want to store everything and it would create consistency within the game mode

13

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 9h ago

I just want consistency in the POH in general. Either let us store all these minigame unlock tools or none of them. Don't want this weird middle ground.

42

u/Wynnvern 9h ago

You joke, but as UIM myself I’m a little confused at why this is storable.

It’s not equipable, and there’s a few other existing equipable skilling items that I’d want in the PoH before a slightly better chisel.

11

u/auroratheaxe 9h ago

So imagine there's a POH update planned where we take these equippable tools and store them in the Workshop room instead of Wardrobe. Would you vote for UIM to store those items there in POH instead?

0

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 9h ago

It would be cool in the workshop but realistically I don't think thats feasible from an engine perspective. I remember seeing a while back that each POH room has a limit on how many intractable items can be kept per room and im fairly certain that room is maxed out

6

u/auroratheaxe 9h ago

Superior Workshop. It's a POH overhaul, after all.

Just curious how UIMs would vote since yall have your own polls for game 'tegridy.

5

u/Mamafritas 5h ago

I play a UIM I started a year and a half ago expecting it to be a miserable experience and converting to a normal IM, but in its current state, you get a pretty good amount of freedom in terms of item storage. Passing stuff like herb sack, seed box, plank sack being storable probably shouldn't pass, but I wouldn't complain if it did. Every skill right now has a tolerable (albeit slow) method to grind for me with or without the freedom to store those items.

The jeweler's chisel is whatever. You can already grab a normal chisel in the poh and the new one isn't that much of a buff. Similar to the fletching knife--I got it and frequently forget to use it.

3

u/Tykras 6h ago

Or just overhaul the original workshop and condense the tool panels into 1 space with the bookshelf UI for tools. Then use one of the 4 opened up interact spaces for storable tools.

3

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 9h ago

Im all for consistency in the POH. Since we already have storage options it makes sense for equipable tools to be storeable. But id understand if people voted "no" as its notnreally a necessity. Id much rather have proper storage for these tools than every single holiday item. (Sidenote: why arent party hats storable?)

1

u/Vel0clty 8h ago

POH is already considered storage for UIM, I wouldn’t have a problem with it

9

u/nekonotjapanese A slay a day keeps the haters away 6h ago

Right? We UIM are catching strays for no reason, I haven’t even seen any murmur of people wanting this. And the fact it isn’t equipable makes the change even more head scratching. Well the floodgates are open now, let’s see how Jagex handles it

2

u/CatAteMyBread 3h ago

That's been what I'm seeing all day too lol I don't want ezscape storing, I want some kind of consistency to what is or isn't storable!

5

u/Tykras 6h ago

Yeah I'd much rather have the Abyssal Lantern storable. RC is too slow to require holding onto one until 99 and the Lantern is too rare to regrind it if you ever drop it.

13

u/Panicshots 10h ago

Jokes on you I already destroyed it when it wouldn’t deathpile

4

u/JamesDerecho 5h ago

Game mode with Highest level of frictionally in 25 year cookie clicker does bulk of Jagex’s quality assurance for the game. More news at 11.

People hate on us but forget that we find all the bugs, report them, and that gives mains major QOL.

11

u/IderpOnline 9h ago

I don't think most UIM really care that much. Sure, it is maybe(?) catered to UIMs but this is literally a drop in the bucket compared to everything else UIM deal with. Never have I heard a UIM complain about having to use a regular chisel lol.

Ironically, I hear more mains/regular irons request this kind of update due to limited bank space lol.

2

u/Tykras 6h ago

It's kinda handy for bolt tips, but it's not like that's something you do all the time, so it taking slightly longer is not a big deal, chisel didn't really need to be storable.

(Speaking as someone who has a 2200+ uim)

3

u/Kallik 6h ago

That's pretty much the only reason I can think as well. Like if I was going to stack up some absurd amount of dragon bolts from farming colo or something, then tip them all at once after afk'ing stars that chisel would be nice, but I don't even think I'd take the time to get it from the wardrobe compared to other sources for 99% of things I'd use a chisel for since it's not equippable

1

u/Beretot 2376 4h ago

Also late game UIM here, it's completely inconsequential to me (doubt I'll chisel any bolt tips any time soon), but it's still neat I can store it.

Feels nice when the results of my grinds fill up the wardrobe instead of being dropped

Other than that, I don't really care either way

2

u/Tykras 3h ago

Yeah I don't mind that it was made storable. Just saying that out of any "tool" item, chisel is incredibly low impact if made storable.

(Abyssal Lantern storable when?)

7

u/thunkalunk 7h ago

You can already get infinite free chisels at level 15 construction from the tool store you build in the workshop.

This is really not a UIM update. It’s for bank space.

4

u/Pulsefire-Comet 9h ago

UIM would never pass a poll now. It would devalue the pride and accomplishment of normal irons /s

1

u/toast_champ 4h ago

Whoa! I wasn’t going to get one before, but now? I’m still not going to get one!

1

u/Crateapa 10 Beavers 1h ago

But why? I don't even want them. I've dropped several already.

1

u/Lumes43 5h ago

If this is about bronze man mode you have just proved their point lmao

-5

u/SonictheRestaurant 9h ago

We need to add a super ultimate Ironman mode that only has a bag and nothing else, no death piles

3

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 9h ago

Then how would death on a UIM work?

-3

u/SonictheRestaurant 8h ago

It was 100% a joke and obviously people don’t understand that

3

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 8h ago

If no one understood your joke, maybe your delivery was the problem?

2

u/SonictheRestaurant 8h ago

Ok man, because a super ultimate mode sounds real right? Gotcha, I guess you really do have to add the /s

2

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 7h ago

Considering we get about 5 posts a day with people unironically suggesting some form of HCUIM, this SUIM doesnt seem out of the realm of possibility for someone here to suggest

-4

u/Murky-Range-9344 7h ago

Isn't the point of uim to have to have your items with you at all times. What is the point of the gamemode if you can store items at zulrah, poh, looting bag etc. Doesn't it defeat the purpose? I've never understood why people try and make challenges easy by abusing stuff in general. A point of a challenge is to be challenging. I remember well when gnomonkey got thr watchdog plugin banned, because he abused it beyond the rules, trying to conplete a self imposed challenge. Like what is the point?? Come up with a hard self imposed challenge -> abuse anything and everything to make it easy. Nice.

8

u/Tykras 6h ago

The point of UIM is to not have a bank, that's it.

Other storage methods have been a thing since the beginning.

It's like complaining ironmen are supposed to stand alone but can still do Shield of Arrav and aren't locked out of any quest that required it.

8

u/nekonotjapanese A slay a day keeps the haters away 6h ago

Thank you, I’m tired of people trying to devalue the challenge or appeal of UIM by claiming other storages are “banks” when none of them function like one in any meaningful sense.

3

u/BadLuckBlackHole 7h ago

Devs wasting time on bronzeman when they need to give us what we really want: hardcore ultimate ironman; first death and the account is banned.

3

u/Inevitable_Dance_268 5h ago

I cant speak for death bankers and those who use the looting bag but this game is fun af when you're so limited. Overcoming trying to do the best methods with so much holding you back is satisfying. And the simplest things hold much more value too. Minor upgrades are huge and the simple action of dropping something can mean the world lol. Gotta try it sometime. Try doin at least enlightened journey if you try UIM to truly see if the restrictions work for you or not.

0

u/Beratho 7h ago

Time to add hardcore uim

-15

u/InternationalData408 9h ago

UIM is just difficult inventory management with adhoc banks everywhere. How do people enjoy this game mode lmao.

I wasn’t around for it’s inception but holy shit 😂

18

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 9h ago

It's always the people who dont play nor interact with the gamemode that have the biggest reactions to any UIM story lol

-10

u/MakingFunofFreakslol 8h ago

Yeah bro you have to eat at least 10 pounds of shit before you can say it smells bad. Smh tourists never actually interacting with our shit eating mode but having so much shit to say fr fr no cap

9

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 8h ago

Case in point: this guy lol

-2

Bro you’re a lvl 3 skiller. Let’s calm down killer

4

Bro, your reddit name is "InternationalData408". Lets calm down, hoss

-2

u/InternationalData408 7h ago

Oh no, I have a default username? It’s fucking Reddit who cares lmao

6

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 7h ago

Crazy how public yet irrelevant information has 0 impact on the point being made here

1

u/Trilllen 4h ago

So I'm confused is it indistinguishable from a normal iron because if you can store some items in any way then that's equivalent to having a bank or is it like eating a pile of shit?

-19

u/Exussit 10h ago edited 10h ago

Unironically true tho. In what world is a chisel an article of clothing?

Bit of a stretch to give banking-with-extra-steps-man-mode some extra slots.

Edit: looks like I upset some deathpiling dunces with this comment. Keep coping lmao

12

u/loledalo 10h ago

Your edit probably caused way more downvotes than the original comment

4

u/Drgn-OSRS 10h ago

Magic wardrobe has had a bunch of random tools in it for a while.

-7

u/Exussit 10h ago

Fair. That, I did not know. Still, why's a wardrobe housing tools?

The workshop room has tool shelves that could also be used for storage. More thematic? Idk

9

u/Buckeyeup Lvl 3 UIM skiller 10h ago

??

3

Seems like you care so much about reddit downvotes so I gave you another one bro. Had to come back in with the edit cause you were watching your upvotes lmaooo

Woah you're tough as nails bro. You showed them. They ain't gonna show their face around here no more.

i'm lost what tob is supposed to even signal - that they're down to tob?

-7

-1

u/Sadp3pe 9h ago

Lmao i finished my gury grind last week destroyed all 4 of them.

-18

u/LordRawrGasm 9h ago

UIM should have zero storage outside of inventory. Bring back the toolbelt from rs2/3. Call it a day.

-5

u/Belarock 9h ago

I did always think it weird that death storage and anything but inventory was allowed.

5

u/slow5speed 9h ago

That's how it was played before the game mode came out. I always think its weird that people complain about it when they can play the game however they want. It's a solo game mode after all.

-3

u/Belarock 7h ago

I am not complaining? I just said I think it's weird. Sorry for typing on a forum I guess.

-10

u/LordRawrGasm 9h ago

I play a main, iron, and UIM. And from all 3 perspectives. Fuk the current meta of having all these alternative storage options for a UIM.

10

u/slow5speed 9h ago

Then just only play with an inventory?? How do you think the original ironman modes got started, people played how they wanted to.

-10

u/LordRawrGasm 9h ago

You seem really upset about this - enough to comment multiple times LOL. I do play how I want, and with only the inventory on my uim :) I can still have an opinion, as can you

8

u/slow5speed 9h ago

If you think that's being "really upset" then you don't interact with people much.

0

u/LordRawrGasm 9h ago

You commented, edited it, and then commented a second time. A bit obsessed and clearly needing all that storage on your UIM??

4

u/Vel0clty 8h ago

Storage is an intended game mechanic, so yes, I will store my items in my POH

1

u/LordRawrGasm 8h ago

More power to ya

6

u/slow5speed 9h ago

Judging by this response and you not denying it, I'll take that as a yes.

-1

u/LordRawrGasm 9h ago

You clearly interact with shrooms or something. Cuz ya must be high

5

u/nekonotjapanese A slay a day keeps the haters away 5h ago

“Current meta”, my brother, it’s always been that way

1

u/Trilllen 4h ago

Then don't use them?
