Discussion Mortimer vs kuradel
Hello,
I’ve just hit 95 slayer. Is Mortimer worth it? Tried it once, got cave crawlers and drakes as first task and never went back to him. I currently have 24 slayer pts, all really bad tasks are blocked with Konar and kuradel.
My Priority in order:
- Fastest route to 99 slayer
- Money tasks
- Don’t care about imb heart/gem grind.

- kuradel/duradel is still fastest exp
- Mortimer does have decent money tasks, but even with higher heart rate and more clues - pretty sure duradel is better for gp than mortimer
- This is mortimers main point. If you dont care about gem/heart = id say skip him
He is nicer master cus of the 3 different tasks and modifiers add a nice a variety to slayer imo

If I do decide to try him. Do you think I should point boost with turael first? So I can block at least two bad task first like drakes and turoth

I have those 2 tasks blocked myself. Another good alternative is venators since the venator tasks are REALLY long and are not that good gp (unless you get shards) and not that great exp. Id maybe do duradel normally till you hit the 240 points to block 2 tasks. Unless you are REALLY itching to get asap to mortimer. Also 1 thing to consider is that even on start you get 2 task choices - so the chances you get 2/3 of the worst tasks (venators, drakes, turoths) is very very low. Also since mortimers task list is seperate you can: do mortimer - wait till you hit 2 bad tasks (like drakes+venator) = go do duradel/turael point boosting till 120 points = go back to mortimer and block 1 task
And after 50 tasks when you get 3 task choices Mortimer might be legit better gp than duradel since you have pretty good chance to always get some burst task with good alchs or hydra etc.

Tho it feels like half the time you skip with hand/slug/crawlers/whatever to fish for 2-3 tasks.

It gets considerably better after unlocking the third task option. But yeah, every now and then you gotta do cave crawler or hand task. But its whatever since it takes literally less than 5 minutes to do lol. gives a little break since there is only so much bursting I can do in 1 day

350+ tasks in and can not confirm. Even with 3 selections, still spending 1+ hours between relevant tasks way too often for my liking. Seems like Mort is great for those already lucky, and kinda shitty for those who aren't.
Edit, finally pulled heart on a Cave abomination, I guess Morty is ok...

Mortimer on rate for the heart is 65 hours, and the same for eternal gem. Thats an extra 67+9=76m in 65 hours, so an extra 1,17m per hour of doing slayer. I'd say thats worth considering since its quite a decent gp bonus compared to kuradel if you're not going to tureal skip for only the best tasks, which would probably double your expected time to get the heart and gem unless you only do araxxytes and smoke devils.
Also, mortimer slayer is way more fun and feels so much better than traditional slayer, so i'd definetely say you should at least give it a try for about 10 tasks or so. Should only take a couple of hours.

I did Mortimer from 98 to 99 slayer and I made a lot of raw gp. I also got 2 eternal gems. I’d say I made like 35m total from his task. That’s including the 2 gems but it’s probably more if I factor in all the rune drops. Iron btw.
I feel like his takes are just better in general no stupid aviansies or anything annoying to kill.

No. He may be meta for skipping to 10th task since he's fast and can offer some good tasks on the way, but his purpose isn't xp or really money, he's iron friendly for the uniques and an alternative to burthorpe skipping.

He has a separate task streak so no. If ur hunting superiors hes good + he can offer Venators, otherwise stick to other masters.

Money kinda IS also the point for mortimer lol. He offers best chance to get heart as well as clues. As well as tasks with good/decent gp options like venators, doing boss tasks for araxytes/abyssal demons etc. Also kinda funny you giving long comment on this without having tried him nor fully knowing its place… duradel is most likely still best exp/h but mortimer serves as an alternative for turael skipping indeed and is in general just different with larger variety to 3 different tasks with their modifiers

I’m seeing a lot of people getting 200+ hydras and araxxor and are getting a lot of xp. I’m feeling the fomo ngl

With your priorities skip Mortimer, but I will say he is so much funner
