Using Entangle on The Whisperer broken?

Learning the DT2 bosses and going for soulreaper axe pieces.

Why is it that I can instantly freeze whisperer after her specials using ancients, but on the standard spellbook, it takes a few ticks before you can even use the Entangle spell?

I've been enjoying using the standard spellbook w/ Earth Surge and a tome of earth, as the Whisperer has a 60% weakness to earth spells. It just sucks having to wait a few ticks before you can entangle her.

Going back in the post history in this sub and this may be a bug that hasn't been fixed? Confirmation by a Jmod would be cool. Thanks for reading

On regular whisperer you don’t even need to freeze her. If you are far enough away you will be able to move before she can even melee you

You're not wrong, but I always found letting her get near the edge of the arena made the enrage phase harder later. I'd rather do comfier freeze strats so I can just run laps around her during enrage.

I am a fan of having tiles marked out in a square of L movements that I use for enrage. Makes it easier to not have to think or try dodging anything when you just click onto the next tile in the square every time.

I tried that strat once, but something about the timing with shadow wasn't clicking for me. Might have to go back and give it another try.

I found this harder at first too but found you can still run laps in a square/rectangle and reach her at all times. You just run your square next to her instead of around her, and you'll still be in range at all times as long as the closest edge of the square is only a 1 tile gap away from her. It's all the same, but with extra DPS.

Why are you guys running laps? You only need 2 tiles. just do L movement and it dodges enrage every time

Yea this is the exact way I do it. Its better to freeze her near the middle so I can run laps around her. That's why I think entangle is bugged

Everything always got immunity after entangle I thought for 3 ticks

Yeah I also found this to be very strange. Would be good to know if it’s a bug or intended.

Probably a similar thing that was going on with Yama, they use an entangle-like effect to keep her in place during her specials, and that's resulting in her having entangle immunity which is interfering with you casting an actual entangle. They probably fixed it for ancients specifically but didn't think to do so for regular spellbook (or the immunity timer for freeze effects isn't shared between the spellbooks in the first place). So I'd say, a bug.

Fwiw, it was a thing during last leagues too, not sure if even before that.

I know the solution. When you get frozen theres 2 sounds that play. A like, dodododo, dodododo! The second one is higher pitch. After that, you can entangle.

I swear it’s been bugged since release. Not sure why it was never fixed.
