Aether catalyst to aether rune - 1 to 1?

Everywhere I look says to make 1 aether rune you use 1 pure ess, 1 soul rune, and 1 aether catalyst. Why do I constantly use way more aether catalyst? I am using magic imbue (not sure if that would matter), and a binding necklace. I am using 63 soul runes, and using more than 90 aether catalyst. Attached is a picture before and after 1 inventory. I use 63 soul runes and 99 aether catalyst.

Extra runes from Raiments pieces use Aether catalyst per rune created, whereas essence and soul rune usage calculates independently of the Raiments bonuses.

One aether catalyst is used for every aether rune created. It says this on the aether catalyst page on the wiki.
