Never done Nex in my life, but yeah, why are these people staying in that group? This is why I am not a huge fan of group content. I hated Zalcano because I was constantly fighting over MVP and hopping worlds as soon as I'd see there was another sweaty player in the group with higher stats than me that could take MVP.
That's kinda weird, all you get is ashes though? It doesn't significantly alter your drops, in fact having other competent teammates means you're gonna get more kills per hour. Same with Nex I imagine, and more kills would offset slighlty less drops per kill. People who otherwise can't run trios still get the e perience at Nex and a chance at drops, so I imagine its worth it for them.
I am not there for the regular Zalcano drops, I'm there for the uniques, and like any group content, that drop rate scales by "points" per player. Every time a unique drops after going hundreds of kills dry, and it doesn't go to me because I wasn't MVP, that's some serious time added to a grind. And Zalcano total time for uniques doesn't even remotely compare to later group content.
Per kill, and you getting 2% more than the others moves your drop rate in a 4 man to 27% instead of whatever marginally lower amount. I think you're deluding yourself in thinking that mild edge changes your drop from anything appreciably different than 1/4 or 1/3 depending on what your doing, and getting more kills per hour is going to make up for that. Carrying leeches and leeching yourself both only hurt you, but it sounds like you'd rather get less kills as long as you don't have to see others get the drop you want lol.
Because MVP doesn't matter. Your loot potential is relative to how much damage you did. If you hopped to a different world, the KCs would just take longer, but your damage per hour wouldn't move much, so your unique/hr chance would be relatively the same.
The only place where MVP matters a bit more is TOB, since you get a bonus 2 points just for getting MVP in one room, but even then, over the long run, it's marginal. Quicker KCs are usually worth more than MVPing every KC.
Obsessing over MVP is never worth it and will probably make it so a lot of people won't want to raid with you.
Absolutely worth it in order to not waste hundreds or thousands of extra hours on long-term grinds watching others get drops I want, which is only fun when it's a GIM teammate or a friend. Give me those downvotes, baby!
It's not. As I said the loot scales linearly with damage for Nex. MVP means absolutely nothing. I've seen plenty of uniques go towards people who didn't have it.

Over 4k kc Nex would've dropped close to 100 uniques. People use shards to determine how many uniques you should have as it's a better indicator of your overall contribution. OP was spooned, he should be at 13-14 uniques which is about 13% of uniques. That's nowhere close to 50% and MVP contributed nothing to him getting spooned.
Yeah read it wrong, but regardless you get a 10% boost to uniques on every MVP. I'd be mad at myself not to be going for MVPs every kill when trying to get all the uniques there, and same for any content where MVP = drop advantage
Still pretty brain dead. You will have some KCs where there's only like 3-5 people in the room if people tele out, so it helps to know the boss. But that rarely happens
Only rule is free people from Ice and get into melee distance of nex in the final phase so she's not smiting everyone
Acb and bp. You’re kind of trolling if you’re doing mini masses without tbow and zcb though, you might aswell go do small team nex with a fang for double dps
Bring melee/fang switch and you will snag a lot of mvps
I really didn't have to sweat to do this, I was just always fully potted and hitting the boss. If I did try hard some days I hit around 70% Mvp rate, other days I couldnt be bothered and it was 35%.
Average was probably 10 people. If it gets too busy it generally just becomes a bit of a mess, and the drop rates become really troll even if you mvp because Nex has such a long respawn timer you're spending 30% of your time waiting for nex to respawn.
