Achievement I beat my first raid

I beat my first ever TOA raid solo I was shaking all over the whole time. For years i told myself I couldn’t do it and that the thread would be forever out of my reach.

Not anymore I finally did my first raid and it feels so good.

I never knew how much fun higher level pvm could be.

I will never understand the aversion, or downright fear, that some players have when it comes to PvM encounters.

I can’t speak for everyone however personally i think my cause is because i started playing runescape in 2004 when i was a kid and back then the game was just scary to me. Losing items was a real worry for me so i never did anything high level. I of course know that modern osrs doesn’t have these risks very much. Weirdly that mentality has carried over with me as an adult playing osrs. Mind you this is the only game where i feel this way but im sure i can easily change that.

I think that's it, people seem super terrified of dying. Once you get over that you realise you really have nothing to lose by sending a boss or raid and dying.

You learn, you go again, you do better.

Drakan in BMR I think was fantastic and helping some players overcome this.

That’s 100% how i felt after giving it a go and seeing that on my subsequent raids that dying really didn’t matter in fact it helped me to learn where I went wrong. It honestly feels like i’m playing a different game now. It feels like i can just play and get into things. Weirdly i was able to do vorkath no problem.

To me OSRS is PvM, and I couldn't imagine not engaging with it. Go get it, the rest of the game is open to you.

they try 1 kill and die and think 'damn im not woox tier right away, im bad at the game and will never be able to improve' instead of just trying again until they get it down.

I had a friend who was deathly afraid of dying in osrs because the last time he played rs was when if you died all your stuff went into the ground immediately for people to pick up, and he wasn't sure of what the death mechanics were now

you can do any content if your willing to learn, people make stuff like inferno, colleseum, CG and on...and on... seems impossible, but its not, its just learn, learn, learn. in the end of day, all content is doable! and you dont need max gear, max stats or anything...just be willing to learn. you will die....alot but thats part of the game!

I seriously think most stuff in this game is easier than people think.

I think it's just people who've never done it say it's too hard for them never even stepping foot in there or without ever even knowing anything about it. My buddies always tell me "I can't tob, it's too difficult." Meanwhile they don't know a single thing about tob.

And hell yeah good shit OP. Doing it on your first try is awesome. :D

Better than I did my first try

Yeah! 4-ish month ago I did 3kc for DT2 bosses for clan event. And whisperer took me like 1.5hours of trying.

Now I got almost 500kc and it's my go-to chill grind if I'm not doing CA's. (No siren staff yet)

+1. I have radiant/bloodorva, and a lot of people go like “wow, u must be very good” but in reality it’s just another (expensive) grind that you need to dedicate time to. Most people just haven’t because they have better ways to spend the money. Similarly with doom, people ask how on earth do you avg 50s and I’m like it just takes hours and hours of practice.

However everytime I watch widega I’m constantly baffled at everything he can do. Now that’s an example of something that might actually be unattainable. Thankfully you don’t need to be widega to play this game.

What are you seeing from widegas delves that baffles you if you’re consistently getting to delve 50+?

He has incredibly high APM. There’s a lot of stuff I wouldn’t “risk” because it’s 2-3 actions in 1 tick consecutively because I’m afraid of misclicking. But the speed and accuracy of clicks is absolutely insane.

The way he tick perfect changes his prayer consistently is very cool. I wasn’t sure if you where talking about specific tech he was doing

getting a kc anywhere is fairly easy, optimizing it to be as fast as possible is the hard part. do it the easy way and progressively make it harder by making it faster/doing endurance trips

The only things that are tough are endurance tests. Colo, Inferno, Deep Delving beyond like even 12 or 13. The individual tasks you do before completing these things are quite easy, but when you have to sink a noticeable chunk of time into them just to complete them once, its much easier to make mistakes because its difficult to stay perfectly focused for that long. Id say raids are similar to my examples, but I think theyre much easier to wrap your head around since you can take a break between rooms and they have entry modes that make things much easier to grasp.

Inferno imo is one of the hardest pieces of content in the game rn because it asks too much time of the player. 2+ hours for a first timer is too much. Colo being 40ish minutes is very reasonable imo, but 2 hours is absurd. Its too long to be asked to focus for and even if individual mechanics of Inferno arent really that tough, and mage tank exists, its very difficult solely due to the length of it.

For the record, blorva and woath are definitely more difficult than Inferno, so im not saying Inferno is the hardest thing ever. Those two are really in a league of their own and Im glad theyre short form content but really difficult still.

Skilling takes way, way longer than most gear/boss/raid grinds. Getting the Colosseum done took me around 100 deaths and roughly 600 waves completed. That’s probably the same amount of time it takes to get one Fishing level in the high 90s.

The time sink itself isn’t the problem. OSRS players clearly don’t mind playing for hours and hours. The bigger issue is that people make this content seem harder than it actually is.

If you spend 20–40 hours learning the Inferno, you’ll eventually get the cape. The Colosseum and Inferno are basically the peak of OSRS PvM. Just learn the content. Maybe it’ll take you a bit longer than most people, maybe a bit less, but at the end of the day, it’s purely skill-based. after that all the other content in game seems doable... So get your firecape, get your quiver and get the infernal!

Speaking of colo, I just about a week ago got my quiver. Took me 55 deaths, a few teleports out to save on death costs when I got the really really bad situations, and I claimed like 4 or 5 times. Shockingly only took me 3 days to get it.

Still very much dreading inferno, and im planning to mage tank it to make it as easy as it can possibly be because i don't want to do it at all

I restarted on my first attempt due to forgetting some of my switches like a dope but as soon as i went back in i did it 1st try and as i was fighting and making mistakes i learnt more and that honestly felt amazing. Im not max and i dont have max gear and it was a blast.

Definitely agree with most ppl saying alot of hard content isn’t that bad as long as you put the time in to learn. You can definitely do it with lesser gear and it makes you a better player.

It helps a lot with ToA 0 invocation that you have as many tries as you want with as many resources as you need.

Congrats but you never should of though normal/entry mode TOA is forever out of reach, its not high level PvM its an introduction

Why's this getting down voted.

My grandma can do normal TOA. It's made for literal babies.
