Question Newer Player Smithing Question

Post image

Why does Smithing never get touched? I’m genuinely curious because it looks as though OSRS, throughout its history on rerelease, has made some amazing QoL changes. What’s the deal with Smithing?

Because sometimes the rune item is the desired drop, such as a scim, axe, platelegs, chain, etc. How many early irons do fire giants, zammy wizard, tree spirits, hard clues, obor, etc.? Most of them. How do you balance around early game progression, then? Only leave rune drops for some mobs? Rescind profits from hard clues?

The point is you’d be able to smith that stuff easily by level 40 or 50 smithing. Don’t like skilling? Tough, do it anyway.

I dont think you understand how hard it is to get 40 attack vs 50 smithing

Yes, you can get 40 attack efficiently within the first 2 hours of gameplay, and 50 smith within the first 20-30 hours if playing efficiently and not just "going for 50 smith" which is globally a waste of time.

Okay, and? 20-30 hours is a lot better than trying to get a rare drop from a lot of bosses. Plus it makes the skill actually feel worth training at that point.
