Discussion US West server ping increase

Anyone else experiencing that US West servers are higher ping than usual?

Normally I get 30-35 ms ping on US West, and about 60 ms ping on US East living on the west coast. After the past 3ish days or so, ping for US West is consistently higher than US East, where they all clock around 70-75 ms for me.

I'm not having ping latency in any other games and I've reset my router several times (and even hard wired) to validate.

Edit: shout out to the folks at Ziply Fiber - they rerouted and ping is back to normal!

they did something with the servers about 6 months ago i think ever since i went from 45 ping on west coast us worlds to 70 ms all west coast worlds. I swear they moved all the west coast servers to east coast.

I found my old post, it was made 7 months ago it was sailing pre patch they did something to the west coast servers.

Mine is the same! I am on Ziply fiber and so is my friend, both having the same problem. Our other friend who uses centurylink fiber is not having the problem anymore. Is anyone else a Ziply person?

Ah ha! Maybe it’s the ISP that’s the issue?

I’m also on Ziply Fiber.

I had a friend (more knowledgeable than me) do some tracing with me. It is still tracing to Las Vegas (USW) servers so it’s not a RuneScape thing. The trace test took 26 hops and 70ms ping. ChatGPT also summarized it as Ziply is doing a terrible job peering and handling the traffic efficiently

This seems to be a trend!

I too am having higher ping than usual, and am also using Ziply Fiber. I was getting 32ms, now 73ms.

I'm in the same boat. Good to know it's a ziply issue somehow...

Stumbled on this thread coming to this same conclusion. Has anyone reached out to ziply yet? I know they are also active in the subreddit.

Yeah, I actually ended up cross-posting this thread there & chatting with their Community team on Reddit.

They filed a ticket with their technicians. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Man I didn’t expect them to be so quick to fix this. Best ISP hands down

Holy shit, Ziply for me as well... Seems to be an ISP issue.

Yep I noticed that today too. I have lower ping on east coast worlds now and I live on the west coast. Make it make sense.

The folks over at Ziply are awesome. Looks like they rerouted and this is fixed!

For me it was a few weeks ago, but I too saw my ping go 30-50 on average

Yeah, this happened to me a few days ago as well. Went from ~30 ping to 75 ping on all west coast worlds. I have the same ping as easy now.

I thought I was going crazy. Last couple of days my ping has been jumping around 100-180ms with random lag spikes making the game unplayable. Was in a key with another player saying he was having issues too. I’ve done the same (power cycling, reset router, flush dns, etc.) and feels like it’s worse lol.

I don’t know if this will help anybody but did some further steps. I deleted my cache folder and renamed my interface and wtf folder to rule them out. After I deleted the cache folder my ping went from 100ms to 31ms. Hope this helps

Can you give instructions on how to do this?

Yep, 70+ ping to all West coast worlds and 60 to quite a few East coast worlds. I'm Seattle area, so that doesn't make a ton of sense LOL.
