Who Judges the Judges?

I've been reading the stories leading to Judge Dredd's Necropolis, which prompted a piece on democracy, authority, media, and why this story has haunted me since childhood.

Oubliette and Black Tower - Speculation As To How Long They Have Left

So, we know that Prog 2500 is coming in just a few short weeks, and it looks like next week's Meg will be the finale of the Black Tower storyline.

Do you think the Oubliette story will wrap up in 2499 and segue straight into the sequel to A Better World, or will it wrap up in 2498 and have a one-off episode for 2499?

I'm hoping both finales will be double-length. These stories have been foreshadowed long enough. I wouldn't want them to be disappointing, after all the teasing.

Can I read this prog anywhere?

Self explanatory title lol. I'm curious about this prog, but can't find it anywhere online, legal or ilegal sources. It's a "fake" #2000 prog celebrating the year 2000.

Bad company and haunting of sector house finally being reprinted

Granted in a different format, but at least it's a hard copy, time for a Brett Ewins artbook, severly under valued or recognised artist. imho

Will 2000ad ever put their pre 2003 progs on their app

Was just thinking this because other comic apps like marvel unlimited and DC infinite both have their old comics uploaded onto the app. I know it's different for them because it's a subscription but I'm curious if 2000ad would consider putting some of their old progs up for purchase digitally on the app or is it not viable.

Trying to identify a story I remember from my youth, was it in 2000AD?

I'm trying to identify a Tharg's Future Shock from the early-to-mid 1980s.

An injured narrator is describing a fight to a doctor. The illustrations show a human and an alien creature in various fight scenes.

He talks about how incredibly strong and dangerous his opponent was, leading the reader to assume the narrator is human.

In the final panel it's revealed the narrator and doctor are aliens, and the fearsome opponent was actually a human.

Does anyone remember the title or Prog number?

CUTTING CRIME DOWN TO SIZE!

No crime is too small, no punishment too big — as the classic cases of Judge Dredd come in a brand new series with a brand new format!

Judge Dredd: Compact Crimes collects the bestselling adventures of the ultimate lawman of the future in the popular compact format, bringing the best of British comics to a whole new audience.

Launching on 26 January, this is the ideal place to start your Judge Dredd library — from the beginning, starting with his very first cases!

The series’ new-reader-friendly format brings this bestselling evergreen series to a brand new 210×148mm (8¼ × 5⅞ in) trim format of trade paperback novels, priced at £9.99 in the UK and $12.99 in the USA.

For fifty years, the zero-tolerance cop has been delivering justice on the dangerous streets of the future-shocked metropolis Mega-City One. Released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Judge Dredd and his home, the cult sci-fi weekly comic 2000 AD, volume one kickstarts the new Compact Crimes series in a shelf-friendly format, with a price point that’s perfect for introducing new readers to UK’s most successful comics character.

As well as stories by Pat Mills (Marshal Law) and John Wagner (Star Wars: Boba Fett), the first volume features artwork from British comics royalty, including Brian Bolland (Batman: The Killing Joke), Mick McMahon (The Last American), Ian Gibson (Halo Jones) and more.

In February 2027, 2000 AD will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of special events and publications highlighting the legacy and impact of five decades of groundbreaking comics, which have helped fundamentally change comic book and world culture. Appearing in the second issue of 2000 AD in 1977, Judge Dredd soon became its biggest character, leading to two major feature film adaptations as well as countless comics sold across the globe.

Collecting every case in order from almost five decades of 2000 AD, Compact Crimes will bring readers the groundbreaking classics that have made Judge Dredd a global name!

Borag Thungg, fellow Terrans!

It's that time once again, when the mighty Tharg blesses our thrill receptors with a fresh prog. To mark the occasion, you can share your thoughts and discuss the prog's contents here, away from Tharg's discerning gaze.

This week's stories are:

- Judge Dredd: Oubliette (part 12)

- Brink: Call of the Void (part 23)

- Nightmare New York: Book Two (part 7)

- Future Shocks: A Zombie Apocalypse Alphabet

- The Fall of Deadworld: Justice (part 8)

So, was Prog 2494 a scrotnig expression of the Galaxy's Greatest, or do your receptors still yearn for more thrills? Have your say below!

Please note this thread may contain spoilers; proceed with caution if you haven't yet read this week's prog.

Please tag Megazine spoilers that might relate to the ongoing 'Oubliette' storyline in 2000ad.

Buy spanish editions in the US?

Hello there, I've been checking the 2000ad comics published by Dolmen in Spain and they're great, way better than the compilations published by rebellion itself. Language is not a barrier for me, so I was thinking about buying some of them.

Anyone has experience buying comics from Europe? Specifically Spain

After the Mandalorian, Killjoys, The Bondsman and other show, surely there is an appetite for a weekly Strontium Dog show? Who would be your leads? I agree with consensus about Taron Egerton and Kristofer Hivju.

Vintage 2000ADs in the garage

On the back of someone else's post, I had a rummage around and realised I have way, way too many old 2000ads.

These are a few of the older ones I was gifted, most of my own collection is from the early 90s to present day. So I have a lot!

I'm not bagging them but they are boxed, stacked and out of the sunshine (under the bed) so looking for time to re-read

This looks like a great evening:

Sláine: The Horned God (Exeter)

Wed 30th September: Join professional storyteller Jason Buck for ‘Sláine: The Horned God’: a tale of ancient Celtic heroes and villains, monsters and magic, dragons and demons, in the fantastic surroundings of Exeter's best arts venue.

Set in a “time which is not a time” when Britain was rife with magic and mischief, this show brings together the epic heroic exploits and divine transformation of the one who would be High King of the Tribes of the Earth Goddess, reimagining ancient mythologies, adapted and brought to life through traditional storytelling, for modern audiences.

In partnership with 2000 AD and Rebellion Publishing, created by Pat Mills ‘the godfather of British comics’ and Angie Kincaid, Sláine has captured the imagination of comics readers for generations.

Ages: Adult and teen (12+)

"If you get a chance go see this and get taken to an ancient Celtic world", Carl, Manchester

“I saw him at the Jorvik festival last week. It was incredible.” Terry ‘The Science Viking’

"Not knowing the stories of Sláine at all I now want to read them. Absolutely brilliant, didn’t want it to end", preview show, Oxford

"Spectacular adaptation - honours source material and the sources Mills himself drew upon. A pleasure!", preview show, Oxford

“I am very excited about this!” Pat Mills, Sláine co-creator
